Answering Savi:Knowing Krishna

September 05, 2007 By: Prudent Indian Category: Religion

Dear Friends, Jai Shri Krishna.

My good friend Savi has some how triggered an interesting debate involving Shri Krishna and Radha, and has raised some very valid points.

Let me at the outset make it clear that I do not command any authority on Shri Krishna; hence I will stand corrected if there is any mistake in my understanding and knowledge.

Following is the comment I posted in Savi's GB, in response to her post. Reproduced as below

HI! Good you raised this point. Would love to share some of my understanding, limited though.
1. Title: BLASPHEMY??
>> Not at all. Hindu Dharma encourages questioning and debating thus learning. To my mind if any religion is so open (to many interpretations) and so democratic then it is only Hindu.

2. You raised some questions about the Radha and Krishna and their eternal love.
>> Before I add any thing to it let me share some thing with you all.
Bhagavat Purana written by Veda Vyas starts with nine cantos, nine books, before Veda Vyas touches on the subject. Tenth book, tenth canto, speaks about the relations between
Krishna and the gopis. Veda Vyas says that first you must read the preceding nine books, and when you are thoroughly finished with material lust and sense gratification, and then you can read about the loving pastimes between Krishna and His devotees… which have nothing to do with the perverted reflection of lust in this material world. Tenth Canto is all about the pastimes of Krishna when He appeared on this planet. I suggest you read Srimad Bhagavatam (aka Bhagavata Purana).

3. NOW, you're comments about the supposedly extra martial relations between the two.
>>In case you did not know…which certainly you do not and so many others too. Let me correct you and put the debate on the right track.

FACT NO 1.

After Shri Krishna left Virandaban for Matura and married Rukamini,he never met Radha Ji ever after…so you”re doubts about extra martial are unfounded and based on wrong assumptions.

FACT NO 2

Another charge hurled at them is the “incest” (in case you do not know then Radha Ji was a cousin of Yasohda Ma).Since they never had any “sexual” relations so this accusation too is baseless.

FACT NO 3

Once Shri Krishna bid adieu to Radha he never touched his “flute” ever again. Before he left for Mathura, He promised Radha that he will play flute only for her. So the folklore is that they two meet in Vrindavan and Shri Krishna plays flute for her. It is also said that others are forbidden to listen or be there after 7.30 in evening,as lord Krishana had promised it for Radha alone

Now, since these above mentioned facts were - probably - unknown to you, do you still think the same as you mentioned in your this post?

RESTS as far as your observations are concerned, do read my latest post,”Answering Savi: Knowing Krishna”.

You say and I quote"·  Coz he did the ras leela with the gopis?  an excuse today for every Casanova to flirt and be promiscuous?"

A wise man said, "Jin Ke Man Mmein bhavan Jaise,Prabhu Moort Tin Dekhi Tasi." It applies here or in any and every case.

Another point Savi, you pointed out is about switching seats well! It is their personal choice; it has nothing to do with the subject. So I have nothing to offer.

Yes! In Virandavan people greet each other by 'Jai Jai Radhey' or as 'Radhey Radhey'. Indeed the people of VRINDABAN are proud of Radha, though she was not the daughter of Vrindaban. She hailed from BARSANA a hamlet nearby.

You surmised, I quote, "What justice is this?? Radha's name is bandied in the streets as Lord Krishna is worshipped in the temple? Why not say Radhey Krishna?? For the simple reason that Lord Krishna's name cannot be taken in vain but a radha is on every rickshaw pullers lips?"

On the contrary, Radha Ji is the darling of every one there and possibly Lord Krishna is not as much revered this is my point of view. Now, this may trigger another debate (Shall love to see how you react) but the fact is. It is always 'Radha Krishna' not the other way around. With Krishna”s name Radha's name is prefixed.

I concede a point that ' possibly ' Rukamini did not get as mush attention as she deserved, but there must be some reasons which I do not know (unarguably my knowledge is insufficient but shall definitely try to explore more when ever I get some time).

As I see Him.

I see him as my spiritual Guru and friend. I consider him as a great Sage. A complete Man. A great Statesman. In short the MOST PRUDENT MAN EVER WALKED ON THIS EARTH.

In these turbulent times we are living in. How I wish Krishna comes back and if need be, guide as through another MAHABHARAT.

Come back Krishna, please come back.
