    Much of math is conjecture … Indigo will be happy to hear this (O Indigo, don’t chew my brains out over this) … Science is supposed to make predictions … and they (the scientists) hedge their bets … they assign probabilities to their predictions … the Heisenberg Principle is the best example … the point is, nothing is certain, but prior information helps us along the way … so, label the coins, one already knows that … and you get a “more” correct result.

    Here’s a sample of what’s in the book … an object lesson on how even great brains can go wrong when it comes to math … take two coins and toss them … there they are, lying on the ground … what are the odds that a Heads will be showing … one great brain reasoned thus … there are 3 possibilities, one head will be showing, two heads and none. So, the probability is one in three. Right? Wrong.

    Actually, there are four possibilities - if you just label the coins, A and B, say. Heads -heads (A & B), Tails-tails, Heads-Tails, and Tails-Heads. So, that’s one in four.
