Fanaa- Review
Hi Friends
This is my first attempt at writing a review. So expect it to be very crude. Many of you may also have watched this movie by now, so please share ur thoughts also on the comments.
There were two different reviews on rediff.com - one praising it and another critical of it. Maybe this will make u take a middle path. If you dont go to the movie with great expectations, then i dont think you will be disappointed. Atleast I wasnt.
I dont remember any other earlier movie with Aamir and Kajol in the lead pair. So that is a plus point. Having two versatile actors, who can do full justice to the characters. So if you are either a Aamir or a Kajol fan, you will like the movie. Both are equally good in acting in this movies. Its sometimes Aamir with the upper hand and sometimes Kajol. But overall i think overall Kajol is a few notches better than Aamir(his fans are going to beat me up for uttering this.) But then Aamir more than makes up for his shortfall in the last few frames.
The length of the movie might be a put off for some. The first half will definitely be enjoyed by all. There are loads of shairies - each outdoing the other. So all ye shairy lovers, its definitely not to miss movie for you, all others things notwithstanding. The second half is a bit streched. The film as a whole could have been shorter by 30 mins.
The trademark Yash Chopra touch that you tend to see in earlies movies is not so strong here. It is definitely there but only in bit and pieces. Also YC movies generally have great music score. But i somehow feel that was also not upto their usual stuff. The background score is however very good as also the audio. The background score resembles some other earlier movies but i am not able to recollect which, so if anybody can guess please do tell.
There are a few poignant scenes and worth the watch. The dialogues are well taken care of by both the versatile actors but could have been better.
One cannot compare movies in absolute terms, but a comparison is inevitable nevertheless. Considering Aamir’s previous movie, it is no where in the leagues of RDB. Infact I would even rate DCH higher than Fanaa. But i would recommend you to watch the movie, even though it might not be a must-watch request.
