Happy Valentines Day

February 14th, 2009

I was

Tall

Fair

Handsome

Intelligent

Confident

Ambitious

Lucky

Optimistic

and (most importantly)

HAPPY

And then there came a valentines day many springs ago .. and then I got married

I don't have to go ahead with this blog now. Remember in the first place I told I  'was'.

Ouch.

Darn !! There is no setting on iLand that says, "visible to everybody except wife". Darn these rediff guys. I am hitting the Post It button here anyhow. I might get the couch treatment today. Or maybe even worse.

I have booked my berth on the platform today. Hope Salman is not in town, lest I make it to the headlines for being a part of some statistics in the morgue.

Disclaimer: This again is just a figment of my imagination. Ours is an arranged marriage. Love toh baad mein hua, more as a side-effect of marriage. It was not the cause to get married. She is the best thing to have happened to me in my life. (there cant be another disclaimer within a disclaimer, dumbo.)

And hey I am sharing a humorous sms on Valentines day.

Agar kisiko ko kisi se pyaar ho jaaye to kya karna chahiye?

Ans:

Dono ki shaadi karwa deni chahiye, saalo ka bhoot utar jaayega !!

 ;-)

Festival or Cruel

January 14th, 2009

Dear Friends,

Pongal is one of the leading festivals of Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated after the harvest time of the crops. There is cheer and good feeling among the people in general after a bountiful harvest. Nothing wrong in celebrating it in good spirits.

Jallikattu is a sport that is played today in certain pockets of Tamil Nadu - the most famous being Alanganallur, which is about 20 kms from Madurai. It is inhuman to call it a sport itself.

Special Bulls are kept in isolation. They are made ferocious by giving it alcohol and steroids. They must be using other methods to make it antagonistic. A bull is let loose in an open air arena within which hundreds of men participate. The participants have to tame the bull and it is a bloody gruesome event. The bull is teased, taunted and harrased by the participants. This is a CRUEL event. Such mindless cruel “sports” have no place in a forward thinking and growing nation and the world. Just because the sport was played since a few hundred years back is no excuse to keep it running now. There are other ways to show human bravery. Teasing, taunting, hurting bulls is no bravery at all. It is cowardice in fact.

I request all my good friends to visit
http://www.jallikatu.com to cast your vote to stop this cruel sport. This website is a Times of India intiative and the results of this poll will be submitted to the Supreme Court of India. If possible, please vote with as many email ids you have. Every single vote counts so go ahead and do it.

Please heed your conscience and vote against the event and help the animals.

Thank you my friends.

Few pics of this bloody gruesome sport:

Anti Virus for Latest T3iL Virus

January 11th, 2009

Rule #1 People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by them.

Rule #2 Tag six people to do this quiz and those who are tagged cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by and cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by. Continue this game by sending it to other people.

Rule #3 Don't follow rules #1 and #2. Live life without rules.

Rule #4 Reading beyond this point is highly not recommended. The owner of this blog is not responsible for any adverse reactions that can take place to you mentally or physically.

Rule #5 If you really do happen to read this blog, you have to comment. Leaving without a comment is bad manners.

The person who has framed these questions looks like some retired nerd of bollywood scripts. Lols. I thought that I would not have to sit and answer questions after I quit school & college but sigh duniya hai gol

In school we used to copy answers and not the questions.

Here we copy the questions and not the answers.

Uncanny world, aint it folks?

Here I am answering my question paper. One habit dint die though. Asking for additional sheets of paper. Lols.

1. If your lover betrayed you what would your reaction be?

Heave a sigh of relief.. good riddance..

But then my lover would drown before I can be betrayed.. drown in my love that is

2. If you could have one dream come true which one would it be?

Seeing myself being a monk (now don't laff at this one.. I am dead serious . )

3. Is there any person, at whose face you wanted to throw your slippers/sandals/shoes at?

My dad doesn't have a footwear shop nor do I have enough money to buy new ones. I hold on to my footwear dearly.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?

Behind every great wealth is a crime. Even if I got to earn prolifically (legally and justly too), I would not allow a billion dollars to accumulate in my bank in the first place.

5. Will you fall in love with your best friend?

Guys, I aint gay.

6. Which is more blessed: loving someone or being loved by someone?

When its Mom, its blessed being loved and

When its wifey, its blessed loving her.

(not that its not true vice versa either)

7. How long would you wait for someone you love?

Till the traffic lights turn green.

8. If the person you like finds someone better than you, what would you do?

I'll cajole, beg, wipe her footwear, make breakfast/lunch and dinner, watch mushy movies, be a comrade-in-hand while shopping and more importantly listen to everything without uttering a word in return. Now let her find a better person.  ^smirk^

9. If you could root for one social cause which one would it be?

The list is pretty pretty long.

Children's education, Elderly people, Cruelty against animals and Environment would be topmost among hundreds of other things that I'd wish I could do something about.

10. What takes you down the fastest?

If I was jumping from a plane, it would definitely be gravity. Atleast that's what Newton buddy said to me.

11. Would you like to have the job you love or love the job you have?

There is no such thing as a 'dream job'.

Kaam hee meri Pooja aur 'Pooja' hee mera kaam hai.

(now don't ask me who is Pooja)

12. Darna mana hai… But what is the thing that you fear most?

Nothing is worth fearing.

Being anxious, yes.

Fear, no.

13. What kind of persons do you think the person who tagged you is/are?

Moe? That single cell-brained, single haired monkey? I love you my bro.

Mees Lisa? She is to iLand like fish is to water. Like Stallone is to Rambo.         Like Bruce wills is to Die-hard. Got the drift?

14. Would you rather be single and rich or married and poor?

Oh, I forgot to ask my dad-in-law any dowry !! Otherwise I'd have ended up rich and married. But then no guesses for how long that fortune will last. Lols

15. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

Go to sleep yaar.

[Why else would we have 'snooze' function in digital alarms (and mobile phones) dumbo. ]

16. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously who would you pick?

I won't do anything. I'll ask them to pick between themselves. Lols.

17. Would you give all in a relationship?

Of course except the dough.

18. What’s eating you now?

Why is the sky so high?

Where exactly is the edge of the world?

How long will it take me to count till infinity?

What is the answer for E = mc3

Want to listen to more or is this enough for now?

19. Do you prefer being single or in a relationship?

Whoever said, 'you cant have the cake and eat it too' was damn experienced.

20. Describe yourself in one sentence

An iLand friendonce asked me to describe myself in a word and I ended up writing a whole darned blog. So forget about a sentence, even the autobiography will run into volumes. But then wives have this uncanny gift of making simple things highly complicated and highly complicated things simple. She simply calls me  'Nuts'.

Going by the growing no. of dormant iLanders in my friends list, I feel like an undertaker. If they come back to iLand, I'd have loved to tag them, but I guess they are not going to come back. I hope they prove me wrong.

Birthday Wish to my Girl Friend

January 7th, 2009

She is one of a kind

All my pranks she doesn't mind

She makes my heart go flutter

She makes my teeth go stutter

Often engages me in a duel

But she is my fuel

She stands beside me like a rock

And when I stray, I get a sock

She is the apple of my eye

I like calling her sweetie pie

A very simple girl, down to earth

A kind of which there is a dearth

Even a million years from now

To marry her, I will take a vow

Today is one of the day

I let her have her say

 Happy Birthday Dear !!

and who is the girl friend?  wifey of course……

(i am reposting this one which i had written 2 years back. most my of my friends who had commented on the earlier one are either dormant or vanished from iLand… and i guess most of my currently active iLand friends must not have read it.. lying as it is buried under the heap of other blogs… )

Pause & Think

December 23rd, 2008

A few of my friends justified as to why it's alright for people to eat animals. I however think otherwise and have strong reservations about man killing animals and eating them.

I give my take on the point of why we humans should NOT eat animal food. I present this in the form of answers to widely held beliefs.

Man has being eating meat since the Stone Age or since known history, so we can eat meat too.

Well, just because the Stone Age man had been consuming meat, doesn't mean that we too should do so. The Stone Age man had limited means and resources. He dint know farming etc. Mankind has grown by leaps and bounds since then. We have so much food from plant origin. We need not kill animals anymore to eat.

Man is the Supreme Being and king of the animal world or rather the planet. So we can do as we please.

Yes, agreed man is the Supreme Being. That is precisely why we should be benevolent on other lesser life forms. We don't like tyrants as kings, do we? Similarly if we like to be called as a good people, we should rule earth responsibly and righteously.

Animals have been provided by god to us to have them as food.

Nothing can be farther from the truth than this. If we call this world gods creation, then surely both man and animals also are god's creation only. God wouldn't like it if we kill his creation. Would you like it that your kids kill each other? Of course not. Similarly god too would not like it either.

Animals kill other animals for food. Why cant we?

The structure and anatomy of carnivorous animals makes it a must for them to prey on other animals for their survival. They are condemned to live that way. Neither do they have the power to think as we humans have. Where as we can survive and lead a very healthy life by consuming only plant origin food.

Cereals and plants won't be sufficient to feed the whole population of the world.

Wrong again. The population of the world before 2000 years was hardly 2 Lacs. Even at that time people used to think that we won't have enough grains to eat. People used to hoard grains in granaries. The fear of insufficient food has been a constant in people's minds over these centuries. But look at the growth of all the major cereals produced all over the world. It is phenomenal. Even today people dying of hunger is not because there is less food to eat but because it is unevenly distributed.

Animals don't feel pain.

Animals feel pain as much as we do. Its only that they are not able to speak our language and tell us that please don't hurt us, please don't kill us and eat us. A deaf and dumb person can't talk. Does that mean he doesn't feel pain? Does that mean we can kill him? Of course not.

Plants too have life. We may as well kill either plants or animals. What difference does it make?

Well, all we need it to satisfy our hunger. Plants take sufficient care on that front. Plants are at the lower order of the hierarchy. Animals are higher and highest is Man. Imagine you are to climb the staircase of a 5 storey building. You wouldn't be hurt so much if kicked down from the 1st floor as you would if kicked down from the 5th floor. Killing an animal is like kicking someone who had climbed till the 4th storey. Life forms are given chance to come up in the hierarchy. So, eating plant origin is a much much lesser crime than killing and eating animals.

Animals are richer in energy, proteins, vitamins etc etc.

Totally false. In the natural food chain, every time energy is transferred from one point to another, it loses 90% in transition. For e.g. Plants absorb energy from the sun in the form of photosynthesis. They absorb only 10 joules out of 100. Now when we consume the plants/cereals we are able to absorb 10% of that. But if animals are in the food chain, then we get only 1%. And in addition, we acquire a host of diseases that reside in animals. Moreover our bodies can digest plant origin food more efficiently and faster than animal origin food.

Eggs are vegetarian and Milk is non-veg.

I have never heard a more quirkier myth in my life. Eggs are to hens what a foetus is to humans. Given a chance and time, it too can hatch. But alas, we kill it. Abortion what we call it in our language. Milk is not taken by killing a cow. Even after giving milk, a cow is alive and so is the calf. But yes, we have to remember and ensure that the calf is given sufficient milk first and then we can take the excess for our consumption.

Thus I feel that there is no need for us to kill and eat any kind of animal.

Not to forget .

A quote

We are all connected in this world. What we send into the life of others, comes back into our own.

a proverb

As you sow, so shall you reap. (in hindi too.. jaisi karni, waisi bharni.)

a scientific law

Every action has an equal an opposite reaction.

Over and above all the debate and question and logic, what is required is a deep sense of compassion towards all life forms, howsoever small or big. Killing animals takes out the 'kind'ness out of 'Man-kind'. Every living being wants to live and has the right to do so. Given a choice, everyone would like to live, not die. So do the animals.

Just put yourself in the shoes of the victim and think.

[It was by chance that I was born a vegetarian. And it is by choice that I am still one. I intend to live by the principles of non-violence and impart as much 'abhaydaan' (fearlessness ' as opposed to terror) as possible to all the living beings. Wouldn't you love to do so too?]

Sequel

December 9th, 2008

Since the recent Mumbai attacks, I have been flooded with angry e-mails and SMS. Newspaper articles, discussions and not to forget, Blogs too talk of the same. There is so much anger that is visible, targeted not just at the terrorists but also on the politicians and also the intelligence agencies.

Why are the people angry now? Because this was a new flavour of terrorism? Unheard of or unseen before?

Why were they not angry earlier? When

Thousands of people die in custody even before trial starts. Many of them could be innocent and victims of police excesses (read third degree). Terrorism.

Thousands of innocents are remanded into custody without proper evidence. Terrorism.

Thousands of innocent people are victims of false evidences fabricated against them. Terrorism.

Thousands of innocent people are ousted from their homes for the so called development projects ' whether it be a SEZ or a dam or an industry or whatever. Terrorism.

Thousands of innocent women and children are harassed, beaten, threatened, sold, raped or murdered. Terrorism.

Thousands of people (or the governments that got elected by the people) openly support terrorists. (These bunch of people are more worse than the terrorists themselves.) Many of the political parties are openly supporting LTTE ' a terrorist organization banned by 30 or more countries. And remember it was responsible for our former PM's death. Terrorism.

Innocent Children being made to work. And many a times under extreme conditions. They are also victims of physical abuse of all kinds. Terrorism.

Social oppression of the weak in so many many forms ' physical, psychological and financial. Terrorism.

Most of the computer games are full of violence, blood and gore. The lines between virtual and real are getting blurred. Children take to guns and what we have is massacres in schools too. Terrorism.

Then there is state terrorism, economic terrorism, geographical terrorism etc. I can give you thousands of other instances. I label each of them terrorism. There will be thousands or lakhs of stories for each of the above. My heart used to be seething with anger then. My sympathies were with the victims.

So you dint have a direct hand in any of the above, right? Read on then .

Movies of late are full of sex and violence and revenge. They 'educate' the unknowing minds of such happenings. By watching such movies and allowing children to watch such movies we too indirectly abet terror.

Millions of INNOCENT animals are KILLED and eaten all over the world EVERYDAY by MAN. Day after day. Day and night. Relentlessly.Chicken. Goats. Pigs. Cattle. Rabbits. Deer. Fish. Lobsters the list will go on and on. An endless list. Terrorism.

So you say that you are a vegetarian and you don't eat non-veg, right?

Now consider this.

Millions more are TORTURED, MAIMED, DISSECTED, INJECTED, BLINDED, OPERATED (mostly without anesthetics) and KILLED (or left to die a gruesome death) in and around all kinds of research labs of drugs, toiletries and cosmetics companies. Terrorism. (Why? Just for our selfish desires to look good, young or for overcoming diseases. We have no right whatsoever to do so against those hapless animals.)

Millions more are killed to be used directly in the production of unnecessary articles like all leather products, shawls, fur, silk etc. Elephants and Rhinos are killed for their tusks and horns. Terrorism.

I label each of the above too as Terrorism.

So who is responsible for all these forms of terrorism?

In my previous post I had asked and now, I would like to ask you again, who is a bigger terrorist?

Man

or

God?

Bigger Terrorist?

December 2nd, 2008

Recent Mumbai Terror Attacks : 200 dead; 500 injured

Ahmedabad 2008 Serial Bombings : 200 dead and 500 injured

Bangalore 2008 Serial Bombings : 100 dead and 200 injured

Delhi serial bombings : similar figures

Now look at these figures:

Tsunami in Dec 2006 : 10000 dead and lakhs rendered homeless

Earthquake in Kashmir : 20000 dead and lakhs rendered homeless

Earthquake in Gujarat : 50000 dead and lakhs rendered homeless

Who is a bigger terrorist?

Man for the former?

or

GOD for the latter?

(all statistics are approximate and no reference was taken from any source whatsoever. even replacing these approximate figures with real ones wont make my question change is stance. i am sure the equation will remain the same.)

Two Liners - III

November 23rd, 2008

Two Liners Part III

Everythings fair in love and war they say.

That's why I married.

I found my soul mate at last.

But I got lots of solemates before that.

Me and my wife have arrived at a consensus on 1 point.

We'll never commit the same mistake again. (idhar miley ho, upar mat milna .)

Aim for the stars and shoot at the sky.

Only that the darned plane got in the way.

I work very hard only for one work.

To find an excuse to be lazy.

Hard work never killed anyone.

But then so dint laziness.

I took one small step to be abreast in technology.

Technology in the meantime took one giant step forward for mankind.

I complained to God that my life is full of ups & downs.

God replied, what can I do if u chose to be a liftman?

What's common between a textile mill owner and a person who lies?

Both of them spin a yarn.

People say that silence tells you lots of things.

All I could understand from it was ' deafening silence.

My bank said no need to stand in queue at the teller ' we have ATMs.

Now I stand in queue at the ATMs.

Women should be banned from T-Shirts with quotes in the front. (esp. with small print)

(whadya need a second line for this.. this is self explanatory.)

I once participated in a dance drama.

The director changed the title to Dance and Trauma.

I wanted to start a business which did not require any after sales service.

Only one business fitted that profile ' being an undertaker.

My Tough New Job

November 9th, 2008

Hi Friends,

Its been a long long time I was away from iLand.

Except for the solitary tag post in between,

I guess its been months since I wrote a blog or read any of yours too.

I was extremely busy with my new job, which made it difficult for me to come to iLand.

It requires 100% commitment and concentration.

Though it is highly demanding, I am enjoying it thoroughly and

loving every minute of it.
