PREPARATION OF KOOTTU KOZHAMBU WITH WATER MELON

K00TTU MADE OUT OF DHARBOOSHANI OR WATER MELON

NORMALLY , WHEN WE BUY WATER MELON FROM THE MARKET, WE CUT IT INTO SEMICIRCULAR PIECES , AND EAT THE PINKISH PORTION , WHICH CONTAINS WATER IN FORM OF JUICE.AFTER USING THIS WAY , WE THROW OFF THE REMAINING PART.

SUPPOSE, WE CUT THE WATER MELON INTO SEMI CIRCULAR PIECES AND SCOOP OUT THE PITH AND KEEP IT IN A SEPARATE VESSEL AFTER REMOVING THE BLACK SEEDS AND UTILIZE THE REMAINING THICK PORTION, AFTER PEELING OFF THE OUTER SKIN , AND CUT INTO SMALL CUBES , AND KEEP IT IN A SEPARATE VESSEL ,FOR PREPARING THE KOOTTU.

TAKE ONE LADLE OF MUNG DHAL ( PEELED BROKEN GREEN GRAM ) OR CALLED AS 'PAYATHAM PARIPPU ' IN TAMIL AND ADD 3 TIMES
WATER IN A PRESSURE COOKER , HEAT IT AND GET IT PROPERLY COOKED.

TAKE A HALF PORTION OF BROKEN COCOANUT AND GRATE IT AND KEEP IT ON A PLATE. TAKE TWO TABLE SPOONS OF JEERA ( CUMIN SEEDS ) OR JEERAGAM IN TAMIL,AND ONE OR TWO PIECES OF GREEN CHILLIES, 6 FLAKES OF GARLICS , AND ONE SMALL PIECE OF GINGER, ALONG WITH THE GRATED COCOANUT AND TRANSFER ALL THESE INTO A WET JAR OF A GRINDER . ADD LITTLE WATER AND GRIND IT INTO A FINE PASTE.

TAKE A FRYING PAN AND ADD ONE TABLE SPOON OF REFINED OIL AND HEAT THE PAN. WASH THE ALREADY-CUT 'CUBES AND POUR THEM INTO THE PAN ; ADD LITTLE QUANTITY OF TURMERIC POWDER AND ONE SMALL TEA SPOON OF ASAFOETIDA POWDER. ADD 1 ½ TEA SPOONS OF TABLE SALT, TWO CUPS OF WATER AND HEAT IT AFTER CLOSING THE LID. AFTER 10 MINUTES CHECK, WHETHER THE CONTENTS ARE COOKED AND IF SO, SWITCH OFF THE GAS. TAKE CARE TO SEE THAT CUBICAL SHAPE OF CUT WATER MELON IS MAITAINED EVEN AFTER COOKING. IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET OVER COOKED.

TAKE THE GROUND PASTE AND POUR IT INTO THE PAN , AFTER ADDING ONE CUP OF WATER,' LIGHT THE GAS. ALSO , ADD THE FULLY COOKED MUNGDHAL INTO IT AND ALLOW IT TO BOIL.TAKE 1 ½ TEA SPOON OF RICE FLOUR AND DISSOLVE IT IN HALF CUP OF WATER AND POUR THE SAME INTO THE PAN AND ALLOW IT TO BOIL AFTER 5 MTS POUR THE HOT CONTENTS INTO ANOTHER VESSEL AND CLOSE WITH A LID.

POUR 1 TABLE SPOON OF OIL INTO THE PAN AND PUT ONE TEA SPOON EACH OF MUSTARD AND JEERA AND HEAT IT. WHEN U HEAR THE CRACKLING SOUND YOU POUR THE CONTENTS ON TO THE VESSEL CONTAINING THE KOOTTU. PUT THE CHOPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND CURRY LEAVES ON TO IT .TASTE FOR SALT AND ADD IF NECESSARY THE REQUIRED QUANTITY.
NOW THE WATER MELON KOOTTU KOZHAMBU IS READY.

PLEASE NOTE THAT , U ARE FULLY UTILIZING THE WHOLE OF THE WATER MELON EXCEPT THE OUTER SKIN AND THE BLACK SEEDS.THE PITH OF WATER MELON IS UTILIZED  TO MAKE JUICE OR SWALLOW IT AS IT IS , AND THE REMAINING PART IS UTILISED TO PREPARE THE KOOTTU KOZHAMBU.BY ADOPTING THIS METHOD U GET BACK WHAT U HAVE INVESTED ON BUYING A WATER MELON AND DEFINITELY THERE IS A SAVING OF MONEY.

GHOST STORY- REAL EXPERIENCE PART -2

  MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE

      TRUTH-EXTENSION-(1)

In my last episode ,I have narrated my experience as to how I saw ghost when I was  at first standard student, studying at Cotton Hill school at Trivandrum.,Kerala StateNow I  narrate my experience while I was studying at the Engineering College at Madurai,Tamil Nadu. I was in the fourth year and I was staying in the hostel. There were students from different parts of the country studying in the course,by  staying in the hostel.

The behavior of students will vary from student  to student. There may be disturbances and           distractions from others;hence,I selected the   main building, where the office is also situated along with class rooms situated in the ground floor as well as in other floors. During night times the main buildings and the veranda on the hind sides will be well lit.My self and another
senior friend of mine who was in the fifth year, used the
class room as our place of study ,during exam times, especially during night times. The main reason for our choosing the class room was that we can sit under the fan and study without any disturbance. We were not permitted to use the table fan or ceiling fan in our hostel rooms during the course of my study for five long years.                                              Normallyafter finishing our dinner, we two,  go to the college main building, which is located nearly two hundred yards away, to start our
study. The college campus is located   in a place where there is a hill on the eastern side and in the west and northern side ,there is a
vast stretch of paddy fields;behind the hill,in the valley, there is a cremation ground. On the western side of the hill
just some hundred yards away ,in the valley, there is a garden with all sorts of flowers and statues.

The class rooms will be normally locked and to our luck ,some windows may not be locked properly; we get in to the class room and switch on the lights and fans and select a table and bench and start our studies; my friend will be sitting at one bench and I will be sitting

on the side.  Because of our concentration in studies, we will not be aware of the time passing by.

On that particular night , I just looked at my watch , it was around half past twelve in the night.   I got tired and wanted to relax for some time. I got on to the veranda by jumping through the window.  I started strolling, on the well - lit veranda. The water cooler on the side of the veranda was dry  and so I couldn't refresh my self; I took my water bottle and refreshed my self.
I was casually looking at the vast stretch of land in front of the building in the darkness.

About fifty yards away, there was a tree covering a vast area with its branches. I was actually looking towards the tree only. There was a big branch of the tree seven feet above the ground level. I was able to figure out  a pale fleshy figure sitting on the branching point of the tree, with its legs drooping down, The figure was very thin and slightly making some movements;concentrated on to the figure, despite  the darkness, I was able to see two red colored eye-balls  just staring in my direction. I was actually wondering how that figure alone, can make itself conspicuous in that darkness; there was no moon  light on that day; so no one can  assume , that, it might had been a shadow . I told my friend about the figure sitting on the tree, and warned him that he should not get smart and throw any stone at that figure and  got a promise from him, before showing it.

He agreed and got down on to the ground below and stealthily took a stone and threw it suddenly, unmindful  of the promise given to me; all of a sudden that figure which was sitting there, vanished and  no sound of jumping was heard; had it been a thief ,we would have heard some noise;we got  totally frightened and then we picked up our books and started running towards the hostel building.Being a good runner , I was running at a very great speed and on the way , I had to jump over a crawling snake; luckily I didn't get bitten by the snake.
We reached the hostel safely; however, it took a long time for my panting for breath to get subsided. The main reason  for the presence of ghost there may due to the fact that we were present in that lonely  place at half past twelve in the night and behind the hill there was  a cremation /burial ground.

The figure I saw, was a ghastly one and I can confirm that ghosts do exist.

GHOST STORY- REAL EXPERIENCE

GHOST STORY—PART - I

Oct 5, 2008 8:38 PM

MY  EXPERIENCE  WITH  THE  TRUTH

The general impression regarding the existence of GHOSTS will be that there is nothing like that, and it is some one’s imagination. But , the truth is that ghosts do exist and i am a person who has the actual experiences of seeing the ghost .My first experience was when i was a small boy of six years.I was doing my first  standard at the government school viz;cotton hill school at Trivandrum,Kerala State. The school has big compound running to 4 or 5 acres. The school has both higher and lower sections in the same compound but in different plains. My school building , is in the lower plain, with a vast play ground; just beyond the play ground, there is a lower plain ground, where a tall old tree was there;from one of its branches ,one person committed suicide by hanging himself. This incident happened many years before my joining the school. However, the decayed remnants of the cord was visible even when i joined the school. The above information, i came to know only very late.Every working day ,there will be a small break for 10 mts to enable the students to attend nature’s call. Normally, students go for a gradient beyond,     at the northern end of the ground, for passing urine , in those days. There was a small tree which had a lower   branch on which ,students sit and use it as a swing. On the particular day , my self and my close friend  Boppanna were sitting on the branch and out of the thrill in it , we totally forgot ourselves, even without paying attention to the bell ringing. All the other students rushed to their respective classes, except we two.
I was sitting on the tree branch facing that particular tree.Suddenly i saw a four legged animal like creature just at the beginning of the gradient, shaking its head like a Chameleon; it had protruding thorn-like members all over its body, with long nails on the fingers on hand and feet .It had a blood -red eye ball and i was able to  notice, that it was staring at me.At the initial stage, it looked like a crawling animal 2ft horizontally from the ground level.I alerted my friend and when he saw that, he urinated in his shorts .we got so scared we took to our heels.

Because, i was a very good runner and i was running at a terrific speed;my friend followed me. While i was running i just looked back and i saw the same figure in a standing posture, taking a very huge form. After returning to the class, though i was  panting for breath very heavily, i conveyed the incidence to my class teacher. All the other staff members came with iron rods , but couldn’t see anything. The general talk at that time was there was a ghost hovering around that area.
When i returned home i was having high fever and i had to take leave for a week. The same was the case with my friend as well.    It is a well known fact that the most favourable time for spirits to roam about is, 12 noon  and mid night.
In my opinion, i conclude ,saying that SPIRITS do exist. I have seen this with my own eyes and hence i believe in it.My next episode will carry the incidence of seeing the ghost during my  EngineeringCollege days.

' SHIRDI BABA - CONNECTION

In the year 1982 ,during holidays,I went to my house at Trivandrum, where my parents were staying. One evening,my mother, father and my self were sitting and talking. It was around 5.30 pm. A white Fiat Car came and stopped in front of our main gate of the house.A very tall person with lightly grown up beard and wearing a saffron coloured pyjama and jibba, and rudraksha mala, cameinside and asked my father whether Anand my nephew was available. My father told him that he has gone out some where locally. Before my father could ask as to who he was, he left the place. After a lapse of some 20 mts the car again halted in front of our gate. Four persons got out of the car and started coming towards our house. One person looking like an assistant, came inside fast , and informed us that the tall person who came first, is Sri Narayan Baba of Bombay, the present Mumbai.Another grown up lady who came nside second , told us that he is a very great Mahan ,and Shirdi Baba”s idol appeared in his hand. After this sri Narayan Baba and his own father who was aged about 82 yrs came inside, we asked them to sit in the sofa.We offered them snacks and tea. The elderly person told that he knows my nephews grand father, and they were play mates in the younger days and lived in the same street were my nephew”s grand father also stayed. Sri Narayan Baba is a person having godly powers , because ,Shirdi Baba has blessed him to do service to man kind. At that time, my father was having memory fading problem and I presented the problem to him. He immediately took out some holy ashes from his pocket and placed his hand on the head of my father and blessed him ,saying that he will get relieved from this problem and blew the ashes over the head of my father. At this time , my mother told him about the August presence of our Lord Krishna in our house , in the exclusive pooja room provided for him. Sri Narayan Baba immediately asked my mother , and expressed his wish to see the idol. We took him to the pooja room.He stood in front of the pooja room and gazed at the idol. Suddenly ,he asked my mother whether she was able to see what is written on the flute which the Lord is holding at the side of his mouth. She expressed her inability to see anything written on the flute. He said he can very clearly see what is written on the flute; he added that the following words are written on the flute:- EMPTY THY SELF I WILL FILL THEE . This is the gist of the teachings of the Lord in Baghavath Geetha. He himself conducted the deeparadhanai and gave all of us ashes as Prasad and blessed us.He also gave me some book by name Sai mahima written by him and asked me to chant the same everyday. Thus I got an opportunity to get connected to Sri Shirdi Sai Baba and study about his Leelas. From that day ,I started studying Sai Mahima and Sai Satcharitham almost daily. How my father got relieved from the trouble of fading memory after Sri Narayan Baba blessed him, will be narrated in the next episode. To be continued ..

are having lice iflicted hair and it forces them to develope
a tendency to scratch the hair, every now and then.
In the market some creams and solutions are available
and most of them are chemical preparations. Even though
they may be effective some af them may have side effects.
There is a totally effective and harmless solution/cream ,

by using a most commonly available fruit and an edible

the ground nut flour by adding sufficient water and keep it in a
glass bottle.
Some half an hour before taking bath, apply this solution
thoroughly on to the hair and wait for nearly 30 mts. Then
wash the hair in water at room temperature. One must take
care to see that dirt does not enter the hair.
