Worry — and how you can combat it

Tanya Munshi

You chew your nails and worry yourself sick. Whether it is a presentation, a date, an exam or an interview — you always have butterflies whizzing through your stomach, creating havoc.

“Everyone experiences anxiety or worry in their life,” says Prachi S Vaish, a practising clinical psychologist at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune. “We worry when an event is perceived stressful by us and we do not have sufficient resources (material or emotional) to cope with it. The situation, however, can be helped — once we decide to help ourselves.”

Worry overpowers us when we adopt a fatalistic attitude towards life. We tend to attach too much importance to the most trivial task; a failure in achieving even the smallest goal makes us lose confidence. As a result, the next time a bigger task comes up, instead of facing it with enthusiasm, we panic.

Pune-based instructional designer Rahil Mahtani, who is 27 years old, says, “During a stressful situation, I take some time out from my daily routine to visit a calm and quiet place; this clears my head of all the mess and helps me think rationally.”

Let’s take fthe following scenarios in our lives that can be potential factors for worry…

Work: Looking at greener pastures

Have you noticed a friend/ colleague who cribs about work all the time? Perhaps, he/ she does not have the correct job profile.

This can happen to anyone at any point in life. It isn’t easy dealing with the fact that, despite having the qualifications, you’re not blessed with the desired career break or are dissatisfied at work. Sometimes, you’re overqualified for the job you’re in and feel frustrated that your colleagues, who have fewer qualifications, are getting the same package. Or, for that matter, the fact that your batchmates from college are making pots of money in their jobs.

Remember, the grass will always be greener on the other side. It’s time you took stock of your own life.

“Objectively viewing your life can help you cope with such situations,” says Vaish. “Ask yourself why you quit your previous job and be honest with yourself. The reasons could be as basic as poor salary, poor treatment at work, boredom, dislike for your boss, criticism, etc.”

Try this

If you can learn how to take criticism in your stride, it can do wonders for you; consider it to be constructive feedback

  • If you’re ill-treated at work, muster the courage to stand up for yourself. It’s scary as hell the first time you do it, but then you gain a sense of confidence that will not let anyone walk over you.

  • If you’re stagnating at work, walk up to your HR manager or your boss and tell him/ her it’s time for a project change/ refresher course or even an office picnic.

RelationshipsThe achy breaky heart

Love is one of the most complex emotions known to mankind.

We love, get hurt, and yet we fall in love all over again — proving that we can’t escape it. We know things can go wrong in love, for reasons like not receiving enough love in return, gnawing insecurities, feelings of jealousy, betrayal or the fear of getting dumped.

Imagine the worst-case scenario — getting dumped. Is that the end of the world? Let that teeny-weenie voice inside your head scream “NO!” No relationship is more important than you yourself.

Whenever you depend on others to make you happy, you will be dejected. Work towards feeling secure within yourself. Concentrate on your work, friends and family as well. Do not make that one relationship the centre of your existence.

Try this:

  • If you are going through a break-up, try and adopt an attitude of ’whatever happens, happens for the best.’ Thank God for this opportunity; at least you did not land up with the wrong person the rest of your life.

  • Betrayal is one of the worst things that can happen in a relationship, but then, if you really want to live happily, forgiveness is the key that will help you to move on. In such cases, the person who hurt you is not worth crying over.

  • There are more fish in the sea. You’re young and have your whole life ahead of you, so don’t fret.

  • You don’t always meet the right person at the first go. In fact, it’s better to meet a few wrong people, to know whom to avoid in future. Thank your stars when you finally meet Mr or Miss Right.

Pre-event jitters: Meeting/ exam/ presentation

When our worry/ anxiety exceeds normal levels, the most common physical reactions are palpitations, headaches, diarrhoea, hyperventilation, dry mouth, excessive sweating and giddiness.

“Although it is normal to experience a slightly faster heartbeat before entering an interview room, it is pathological to have it beat so fast that it feels as if you are having a cardiac arrest,” says Vaish.

You know you have crossed the normal level of anxiety/ worry, when worry start interfering in your daily activities and you’re unable to perform tasks for the fear that something might go wrong. “This does not have to be deliberate on your part; you might genuinely feel you’re sick, nauseous and weak. What is actually happening is that your nervous system is telling you you’re very anxious and that’s when you use this sickness to escape a seemingly threatening situation,” adds Vaish.

Try this

  • Calm yourself before an exam or a meeting by doing slow, deep breathing exercises.

  • The key is not to panic; once you panic, you will not recall things you already know.

  • Walk into an exam/ meeting telling yourself it IS important, but it is not the end of the world.

  • Finally, imagine the worst-case scenario. Think of the preventive and corrective measures you can adopt to ensure that such a situation does not actually take place. For example, while studying for an exam, keep in mind the worst thing that can happen to you — failure. The corrective measure to adopt would be to autosuggest you can do well. This will help you study harder and pass the exam.

Low self esteem: I’m not good enough

Underperformance in academics or sports, your looks, weight, family background, mental makeup, etc, can be culprits when it comes to low self-esteem.

Sometimes, even failure in love can lead to low self-esteem. When the so-called ‘perfect’ man/ woman walks out on you, it leaves you with a feeling that you’re not worth it.

For the lower age group, even basic factors like low marks in class, not having many friends to hang out with, not having trendy clothes to wear, or having to wear spectacles can lead to low self-esteem.

Try this

  • Think about it – is what has happened so important that you should lose your self-esteem? For example, if you think you’re not smart enough, there is no harm in joining a personality development course or a finishing school. Take up productive methods to boost that low self-esteem.

  • Disciplines like yoga and meditation can help you channelise your energies and thoughts towards something more positive and productive.

  • Set smaller and short-term goals that gradually lead to a bigger goal. For example, if you want to lose weight, set a target of losing at least one kilo a month so that you will lose at least 12 kilos in a year. Or, learn something new, like a new language for example. This will not only help you stay focused; it will also boost your confidence when it comes to achieving new goals in life.

  • Being organised and focused helps you plan your tasks well and finish them on time. It also helps stop procrastination.

  • Remember, it’s really okay to make mistakes.

  • Focus on hobbies/ activities you’re good at and develop them further, be it painting, dancing, or singing. Not everyone is blessed with such talents.

One of the best forwards I have come across'..

TRUST is a very important factor for all relationships. When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship. Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation.

—————————————————————————-

NO POINTING FINGERS

A man asked his father-in-law, “Many people praised you for a

successful marriage. Could you please share with me our secret?” The

father-in-law

answered in a smile, “Never criticise your wife for her shortcomings or

when she does something wrong. Always bear in mind that because of her

shortcomings and weaknesses, she could not find a better husband than

you.”

We all look forward to being loved and respected. Many people are

afraid of losing face. Generally, when a person makes a mistake, he

would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger at. This is

the start of a war. We should always remember that when we point one

finger at a person, the other four fingers are pointing at ourselves.

If we forgive the others, others will ignore our mistake too.

—————————————————————————-

CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and

requested “I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable

one.” The SDU officer said, “Your requirements, please.” “Oh, good

looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing

and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my

leisure hour, if I don’t go out. Telling me interesting stories when

I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to

rest.” The officer listened carefully and replied, “I understand you

need television.”

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a

blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the

faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of

the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and

dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the

excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that

marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

 —————————————————————————-

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,

or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer

all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage.

Actually, this is not the case. There is a Chinese saying which carries

the meaning that “It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than

a person’s character.”

It is not easy to change. Thus, having high expectation on changing the

spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness.

It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our

expectations..

—————————————————————————-

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that “A speech will

either prosper or ruin a nation.” Many relationships break off

because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other,

we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without

considering if it would hurt the other party.

A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction

site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted,”Hi, Emily!

Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school.” On the way

home, her millionaire husband teased her, “Luckily you married me.

Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker.” She

answered ,”You should appreciate that you married me. Otherwise, he

will be the millionaire and not you.”

Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad

relationship. It’s like a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

—————————————————————————-

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception. One man’s meat could be

another man’s poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On

the way home,a boy commented, “Very stupid. Why neither of them ride

on the donkey?”Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on

the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and

commented, “The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride

on the donkey while the husband is on foot?” Hearing this, the wife

quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, “How

can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no

gentleman.”

The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.

Then, they met a young man. He commented, “Poor donkey, how can you

hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you.” Hearing

that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey

and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the

donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell

into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will

everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will

be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is

clear..

—————————————————————————-

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of

his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old

son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck.

The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy’s hands

into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son

to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he

finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy’s hands. When the

boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently

said, ” Daddy,I’m sorry about your truck.” Then he asked, “but when are

my fingers going to grow back?” The father went home & committed

suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u

wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with

someone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelings

often can’t. Too often we fail to recognise the difference between

the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is

greater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the

actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

[Life is a gift -Live it-Enjoy it-Celebrate it -And fulfill it.]

Today before you think of saying an unkind word Think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food
Think of someone who has nothing to eat .

Before you complain about your husband or wife
Think of someone who’s crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life
Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children
Think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house; someone didn’t clean or sweep ,Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.

Life is a gift
Live it…
Enjoy it…
Celebrate it…
And fulfill it.

And while you are at it give love to someone today
Love someone with what you do and the words you say
Love is not meant to be kept locked inside of us and hidden. So give it away “Give Love to someone today!”

ELEPHANTS

December 25th, 2006

Very simple logic but very true!!

As I was passing the elephants, I suddenly stopped,
confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages.
It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

I saw a trainer near by and asked why these beautiful,
Magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.
“Well,” he said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the Same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it”s enough to hold them.
As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away.

They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never
try to break free.” I was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn”t,they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

How many of us have avoided trying something new because of A limiting belief?

Worse, how many of us are being held back by someone else”s limiting beliefs?

“Whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve”

Reduce Weight Naturally

December 22nd, 2006

Reduce Weight Naturally

In ayurveda, Charak Samhita describes eight different types of bodies that are disease prone. Out of these, the obese body is described as the one afflicted with the most diseases and troubles. Obesity is the condition or physical state of the body when excessive deposition of fat takes place in the adipose tissue.

Extra fat puts a strain on the heart, kidneys, liver and the joints such as the hips, knees and ankles and thus, overweight people are susceptible to several diseases like coronary thrombosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gout, liver and gall bladder disorders.

Chief cause of obesity is overeating, irregular eating habits and not following the rules of eating or mixing non-compatible food items in one meal.

To decrease weight and get rid of obesity three things must be kept in mind:

  • Controlling eating habits.
  • Regular exercise.
  • Avoiding the causes of weight gain

Diet recommended to lose weight

  • Early morning

  • Juice of half a lemon mixed in a glass of warm water and a teaspoon of honey.

  • Breakfast
    Wheat or Mung bean sprouts and a cup of skimmed milk.

  • Midmorning
  • A glass of orange, pineapple or carrot juice.

  • Lunch

    • Salad of raw vegetables such as carrot, beet, cucumber, cabbage, tomatoes.
    • Steamed or boiled vegetables
    • Whole grain bread or whole wheat chapatis (Indian bread) and a glass of buttermilk.
    • Roasted cumin seeds, green coriander leaves, a little salt and some grated ginger mixed in the buttermilk.
  • Mid-afternoon

    • Coconut water
    • Dry fruits
    • Lemon tea
    • Fresh vegetable soup
  • Dinner

    • Whole grain bread or chapatis
    • Steamed vegetables
    • Seasonal fruits except banana and apple.

Home Remedies for Losing Weight

  • Increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables and low calorie foods.
  • Avoid intake of too much salt as it may be a factor for increasing body weight.
  • Milk products like cheese, butter etc. and non-vegetarian foods should be avoided as they are rich in fat.
  • Mint is very beneficial in losing weight. A chutney of green mint with some simple spices can be taken with meals. Mint tea also helps.
  • Spices like dry ginger, cinnamon, black pepper etc. are good for loosing weight and can be used in a number of ways.
  • Regular intake of carrot juice.
  • Avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates. Among cereals wheat is good.
  • Vegetables like bitter gourd (Karela), and bitter variety of drumstick are useful in loosing weight.
  • Honey is an excellent home remedy for obesity. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions.
  • Dosage: One should start with small quantity of about 10 grams or a tablespoon, taken with hot water early in the morning. A teaspoonful of fresh lemon juice may also be added.
  • Fasting on honey and lime- juice is highly beneficial in the treatment of obesity without the loss of energy and appetite. For this, mix one teaspoon of fresh honey with the juice of half a lime in a glass of lukewarm water.
  • Dosage: Take several times a day at regular intervals.
  • Raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat. Hence, it is of great value in weight reduction.
  • Exercise is an important part of any weight reduction plan. It helps to use up calories stored in body as fat.
  • Walking is the best exercise to begin with and may be followed by running, swimming or rowing.
  • The gum of Commiphora Mukul called “guggulu” is the drug of choice for the treatment of obesity.

Follow the above mentioned tips to lead a healthy and a happy life.

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE

Luke 1:26-38

Prayer

Most of us want to be successful in life.

But what is success?

Is success the same as making money or overcoming difficulties?

The same as being first or reaching the top?

Some define success that way.

But a better definition says, "Success is finding God's will for your life;"

"And carrying it out."

We will leave this life as a successful person, if we have done what God

wanted us to do.

He has a plan.

Every believer who ever lived;

Every believer alive today;

And every believer who lives in the future is a part of that plan.

When we stand before the judgment seat of God, our success in life will not

be measured by the fortune we amassed;

Or the people we supervised;

Or the problems we overcame;

Or anything like that.

Our success in life will be measured by our response to the things God

wanted us to do.

These things will determine our success in life.

Mary is an example.

God had a special plan for her.

It was an unusual plan.

It seemed impossible.

But Mary responded in a positive way.

God sent an angel to her;

Not just any angel;

The angel Gabriel.

It's the angel Gabriel who told Daniel that the Messiah would appear in 483  years (Dan. 9:24-27);

It's the angel Gabriel who told Zacharias that John the Baptist would be born.

And now it's the angel Gabriel who is delivering this message to Mary.

He went to a place called Nazareth.

This was a small city.

We would call it a small town;

A relatively insignificant little town.

Not much went on there.

But a virgin named Mary lived there.

Gabriel appeared "To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David;" "And the virgin’s name was Mary."

The Bible is clearly teaching that Mary was a chaste woman;

That Mary had never been involved in a sexual relationship with a man.

This is emphasized because God knew men would deny the virgin birth.

He knew men would say it is a biological impossibility.

So He picked a doctor to record this event.

And doctor Luke tells us twice in the same verse that Mary was a virgin.

There are at least six Mary's mentioned in the New Testament.

This Mary lived in Nazareth.

She was engaged to a man named Joseph.

We don't know for sure, but Mary’s parents probably arranged this

engagement.

That was the custom back then.

Mary was poor.

And she was probably a teenager (perhaps 13 or 14 years old).

Joseph was of the house of David;

A descendant of the old royal family.

He was poor too.

He and Mary were too poor to offer a sheep when they took Jesus to the

Temple to be circumcised.

This is the kind of people God chooses.

He can overcome things like age and poverty;

Where we are from, where we live, etc.

God can overcome our circumstances.

It's things like pride, unbelief and rebellion that stop Him.

Gabriel greeted Mary in a special way,

"Hail, thou who art highly favored, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou

among women."

And God DID choose her for a very special task.

What did she think about this angel?

"When she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered in her

mindwhat ma nner of greeting this should be."

Mary was troubled and perplexed.

The mere presence of this angel would be enough to make any teenager

apprehensive.

Mary pondered the meaning of this greeting.

Is this a joke?

Is this really an angel?

Is this really a message from God?

Am I really being favored by God?

What does blessed art thou among women mean?

Gabriel sensed her alarm.

He tried to assure her.

He repeated part of the greeting.

"Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God."

Don't be afraid Mary.

God is pleased with you.

God has something special for you.

"Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt

call his name Jesus."

You will have a baby;

A baby boy.

God wants you to name Him Jesus.

Jesus means "The Lord is salvation."

He chose Mary to bring the Savior into the world.

Next, Gabriel began to tell Mary what her child would be like.

Only God can do that.

Only God can reveal someone’s future before they are born.

Gabriel said five things about Jesus:

1st—Gabriel said, "He shall be great."

Jesus showed great power by raising the dead, healing the sick, walking on

water and casting out demons.

He was great in compassion;

Great in knowledge;

Great in wisdom.

A greater person never lived.

He changed this world.

And everyone knows it.

2nd—Gabriel told Mary, "He shall be called the Son of the Highest.”

Who is "The Highest?"

"The Highest" is God;

And the "Son of the Highest" is the Son of God.

Gabriel was saying Jesus will have a special relationship with God.

He will be related to God in a unique and intimate way.

He will even be called the "Son of the Highest."

3rd—Gabriel told Mary, "The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David."

Several hundred years before this, God promised King David a descendant to sit on his throne.

And to rule over an eternal kingdom.

God put that promise in the form of a covenant.

He made it binding and unconditional.

Gabriel was saying Jesus will be the fulfillment of God's promise to King

David.

He is the promised heir;

The anointed one;

The King of kings and Lord of lords.

4th—Gabriel told Mary, "He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever."

Jesus was, is, and always will be, the King of the Jews.

5th—Gabriel told Mary, "Of his kingdom there shall be no end."

Jesus is establishing a kingdom that will last forever.

He will have dominion over the entire creation.

Nothing can stop His reign.

Daniel said it will never come to an end (Dan. 2:44)

All this raised a question in Mary’s mind.

She wanted to know "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"

"How can I have a child when I'm not even married?"

Gabriel's answer contains four facts.

1st—Gabriel said, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee."

Mary's pregnancy was a miracle.

No man had anything to do with it.

A person cannot believe the Bible and deny the virgin birth.

2nd—Gabriel said, "The power of the Highest shall overshadow thee."

Mary came under the awesome power of God;

The power that created Adam and Eve;

The power that created all things.

The power that healed the sick and raised the dead.

It overshadowed Mary;

And caused her to conceive.

3rd—Gabriel called the baby Jesus, "That holy thing."

This could mean two different things.

It could mean that Jesus would be that "holy thing" in the sense that He

would be born with a sinless nature.

He would never sin;

Keep every jot and tittle of the law;

Be righteous in every way.

It could also mean that He would be that "holy thing" in the sense that He

would be set apart for a special task;

Set apart as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

His unyielding devotion to God;

And His love for each one of us;

Would lead Him to the cross.

His holy life would qualify Him to take the place of others.

He was holy;

Sinless; set apart.

4th—Gabriel told Mary, "That holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

Unbelievers called Him the carpenter's son;

Some called Him Joseph's son.

But Gabriel said He would be called the Son of God.

In fact, Gabriel said He shall be called three things:

Thou shalt call His name Jesus.

He shall be called the Son of the Highest.

He shall be called the Son of God.

These names and titles refer to the unique relationship Jesus has with God.

They speak of His deity.

Next, Gabriel strengthened Mary's faith.

This teenager was being asked to accept some incredible things.

She needed help to believe that this was true.

Gabriel knew what to say.

"Behold, thy cousin, Elisabeth, hath also conceived a son in her old age;"

"And this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren."

Gabriel focused Mary’s attention on her cousin Elisabeth.

A miracle had taken place in Elizabeth’s life.

She was an older woman;

Past child bearing age;

Called barren.

People mocked her;

Made her a reproach among men;

But God caused her to conceive.

And that barren woman was now in the sixth month of her pregnancy.

Gabriel was telling Mary,  "God wants you to believe in miracles."

He worked a miracle in Elisabeth's life.

And He can work a miracle in your life too.

Then, Gabriel added, "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

Mary knew the Scriptures.

And Gabriel was simply reminding her of something she already knew.

Moses said, "Nothing is too hard for the Lord" (Gen. 18:14).

Jeremiah said, "Nothing is too hard for the Lord."

And he added, "God created all things."

Paul said I am "fully persuaded that, what he has promised, "He is able

also to perform" (Rom. 4:21).

Gabriel was saying, "God's promises are certain."

"He turns the impossible into reality."

Let's get Mary's response.

And remember, she is just a teenager.

It's an amazing response for a teenager.

This teenager replied, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord;"

"Be it unto me according to thy word."

She said, "Look at me."

"I am God's handmaid."

"Look at me, I am God’s servant."

She didn't consider her life her own.

She was determined to serve Him.

She had no excuses;

No questions;

No discussion;

No wavering.

Mary simply said, "Be it unto me according to thy word."

"I want to do whatever God wants."

"I want God's will for my life to come true."

And the angel departed from her.

Gabriel received Mary's answer and left.

Today, God still looks for people like Mary;

People who want to be successful in life.

He's not looking for people who are rich.

How much we have has nothing to do with it.

He's not looking for people with power and influence.

How much power and influence we have has nothing to do with it.

He's looking for people who will say yes to Him.

No matter how much we own, if we exit this life without God's favor we

are a failure.

And no matter how little we own, if we exit this life God's favor, we are a

success.

Success is finding God's will for your life;

And carrying it out.
