HAPPINESS

January 12, 2009 By: rajeshkumar rai Category: Philosophy

Happiness is the state of our mind which is easily disturbed as explained by “visuals of neighbours envy and owner pride .ONIDA”. Well being a proud owner 63 inches plasma TV, I am, by those standards the happiest of all. We human beings are the creatures produced in last five minutes. But when it comes to happiness we have our own moments and standards. Our happiness peaks when we feel a high in life but disappears when the low surfaces. Like the stock markets, the highs go into a low which progresses to too too low. Or is it just like a theoretical presence of happiness when reality is hidden from our vision. Our happiness keeps shuttling back and forth between our standards and it's the envy which makes us sad when we fail to match the standards of other people.

The married people are happier than singles; the educated people are happier than literate who are better off than illiterate; people who are deeply religious are happy than who are not ;people with degrees are better than those without them but aren't graduates less happy than post graduates? People are happier when do the job they love than people who have a job which they loathe; but still some people fall in love with a job they would otherwise hate. Yes, people are happier when they are in love; having an affair can make you happier but will be devastating to your spouse and family .Men and Women are  supposed to be equally happy but their reasons for happiness are different and that too vary from age to age Women do exhibit a wide range of emotions. Wealthy people are happier than poor just as wealthy nations have to be happier than poor but does population too have a role in determining the happiness of a nation?

Having written all the above I am still in thoughts wondering what happiness is all about. Is a sexy woman is more happy than a male who has just put a ring to it. Will this happiness last when sexiness get trounced into routines of married life?

Still to me happiness is a state of mind that thrives on the path we may pursue but can never be quantified but always compared.
