We all know that there are three main branches of the federal government in the United States. The famous three branches are the legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial branch. And we all know that the United States Capitol is on behalf of the legislative power of the US government. Now let us figure out something about the United States Capitol.

1. The United States Capitol is located in Washington DC and it sits atop the Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall. It stands for the democracy, strength and pride of the country. The building is thought to be the architectural landmark in the whole world and is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world.

2. The Capitol is 750×230 meters long and 350×105 meters wide and has nearly 540-odd rooms. There is also a huge domed room in the center of the building. The great Capitol is full of wonderful works of art and amazing architectures. The five-storied Capitol is really a top place for people to see boutique works as well as great architectures.

3. In the last decade of the 18th century, the building started its construction. After it has done through a lot of renovation, rebuilding, restoration and expansion. During the 1812 war, the Capitol was almost burned down. The reconstruction of this building began in 1815 and ended in the year of 1819. Although it has undergone various renovations, the colossal building still features amazingly consistency in its forms and architecture.

4. Visitors are allowed to get into the great building in a small group with the help of a professional guide. The building opens to the public from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm and it is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year Day.
