ek pari se ho jaye mulakat

working or not working

WORK is the need to survive and also to encash the luxary of life. I understand the importance of work in our life and also in our society. And now when men and women are equal, they are doing the jobs together and complementing each other. Womens and mens are doing commendable job at home front and at the work front. Also the life is so demanding that one has to overcome all the competitions and has to come out victorious and moreover the peer pressure is increasing day by day. If we talk only about women working population then yes, they are in all the fields and proving their superiority.

Nowdays womens are no longer captured behind the four walls of the house, rather they are showing the world to their kids. A new trend that  I am noticing nowdays that wherever womens are going whether it is a get together, a birthday party, a wedding reception or meeting  a stranger  they have been asked a similar question ” Are you working”? if the answer comes YES then the position of the lady really gets stronger and if the answer is NO then ……………….. just a emotion less OK comes out.

I am not working but still  I am working 24/7. I am on my toes since morning till night. But officially I am NOT WORKING. The scenario has really changed as the society has changed its outlook towards women , for good, for sure. Now the society wants to hear that girls, the womens are working and doing something good to earn for themselves and for the family. But still I think the view of society is still the same when it comes to HOUSEWIVES. I dont understand why housewives are always considered to be the person without work? The only difference that  I can understand is they are working without salaries and they are in a NO THANKS JOB. ‘ such a small thing, i could have done it’, still you have not done this’ no work just boring saas bahu serials’, kaam hi kya hota hai ghar par’………… well these are the incentives that usually been given to a housewife, without realising that this really hurts!

I gave up my job, my career for my child, not on a compulsion but by choice and now after three years of my post as a housewife, i have learned that this is  a real thankless job. when you are among people and the question comes ARE YOU WORKING? then ofcourse  NO is the answer, but then then i really want to explain that i am working though i am not……………….!

Well thats the fate of being just a housewife.

My child has started his school and now I am desperate to strart my career afresh, and want to come out of the four walls. I am confident that I will because I can.

A change should be there the way we consider the status of a housewife. If they will stop working , I wonder how others will continue………………

woh kagaj ki kashti woh baarish ka paani

I AM STRUGGLING TO TEACH

A Big HELLO  to all my iland friends. I am posting a blog after a long time. I was just busy with the family life and travelling from one place to another. These days I was bit more on a spiritual side and some of the  things which were bothering me are now over and I took a sigh of relief. I am praying to God to shower his blessings on me always.

Now I have introduced writing to my little one and believe me it is just like I am learning to write for the first time. He is not at all interested in writing. He is not ready to hold the pencil as I am saying  and instead he draw some funny lines across the pages. He is more happy in drawing the shapes , like circle and triangles, squares and rectangle. His favourite alphabet is ‘A’ and ‘O’ because there is a triangle and a circle in it.

I wonder what my parents must have gone through while introducing writing to me.  Today if I can write it is just because of my parents…………..so true and it is the fact that parents are the first and the best teachers but it is so very hard. Nowdays, instead of humming my favourite bollywood numbers while working, I am singing the nursery rhymes so that he will pick it from there…. and believe me friends the idea  is working. While playing he has learned to recognize numbers and alphabets but what about writing?

Even now he gets annoyed of me getting after him with the ‘join the dots’ books and ran from my sight. And now to make me more and more annoyed says the thins intentionally wrong like 20 comes after 9. Oh dear! thats the only thing I could say after that although  I know he is pretending of not knowing.

I wonder what will happen when it comes to write the ‘Hindi ke akshar’. Do let me know the suggestions so that writing will be an interesting act for him and do cross your fingers that soon he will find writing fun.

It is really hard to be a teacher and hats off to all the teachers. Let me take this opportunity to thanks my parents for their patience and love while making me learn the things.

A story with a twist

please tell me something different story” said little sanidhya to me! Oh God, u have already listened two stories and now again? i was little annoyed. It is already half past nine and you should go to bed now! I said forcibly and he gave me a hug and said one more please.

He is a really cheeky one, always want to listen to the stroies and want to add something from his own side. Now which one, I started thinking of all my childhood story books and i remembered one which is short , sweet and simple which will complete easily and he will left with no editing to do with and finally he will sleep peacefully. Thinking this I started.

Once upon a time, in the jungle there lived a tortoise and a rabbit. One day they decided to race. I wanted to be as simple and precise I can be. “Then what happen? Who said, ONE TWO THREE ……….GO” he asked so innocently. He always asked such questions when he isn’t feeling very sleepy and I left with no option than to answer him.

Elephant was there to  monitor there race , whats was the name of the elephant? Oh God ! I dont know , Mr Elephant….OK. Yeah!  So Mr Elephant asked Master Tortoise and Master Rabbit to start racing .

Did he said ONE TWO THREE…. Yes yes he did said like that. And then finally the race begins and obviously Master rabbit was winning. WHY? He asked with full energy. Because rabbits are good in running and tortoise are slow animals. But thats not fair, said he. It seems all his sympathy is with Tortoise. Anyways, Rabbit reached, No it is Master Rabbit! OH DEAR, Yes I forgot, it is Master Rabbit who reached half the way and thought ” I am sure to win so why not to take a little nap and then I will complete the race. But “thats not in the rules of Racing” He is not allowed to sleep on the way. Thats wrong” ! Come on thats just a story and anything is possible in a story, I said in  a convincing way. He seems to be convinced a bit and then he said Did Tortoise won the race?

Well, Master Rabbit kept on sleeping and Tortoise slowly and gradually won the race and when Rabbit woke up, he realised his mistake. So the lesson of the story is “Slow and Steady wins the race”.

I dont like this story! said sanidhya. Why ? Now whats the problem. Master Rabbit should not have slept on his way and ……. But Sanidhya, then Tortoise might have lost the game and he was the obvious weak player so the Story has been made to make the Tortoise winner. No ……… I dont agree he said with confidence and by the time I was confident that he will add something on his own.

Mumma, does Tortoise was not having his SKATES! He would have won the race beside being slow and then there would not have been any reason for Master Rabbit for taking a nap. Now all his sympathy was with Rabbit and his version was very clear and innocent that Tortoise even could win the race if he would have wearing his Skates! That was made me speechless and I said that just like you Master Tortoise has yet not started taking Skating lessons! He was convinced this time and now sleeping peacefully and must be in the dreamland where he will give Master Tortoise a pair of skates to win the  race.

This story telling session with him has forced me to think that why we always think of the reasons for our failures when nobody but only we are responsible for all our doings, whether good or bad! And why do we think that we are not good enough for doing this or that when we know that a little effort or a little gesture with intelligence  is enough for us to go on a winning path. Many a times we learn many things from kids just like this. A twist in the story where Tortoise is wearing skates to compete with Rabbit and Rabbit lost the game without sleeping in between. That was good! Good enough for us to understand life better! What do you think? Do let me know!

IS THE FUTURE OF BRITAIN IN TROUBLE?

Britain, a very strong superpower, about whom it was said that the Sun never set on the British Empire. To this day, scores of countries still experience the dramatic impact this empire once made. The British colonies are now no more in existence but Britain or the United Kingdom is the major power player in world politics. Britain has its influence on all the aspects of wordly affairs, and like any other country, Britain too look upon her young shoulders to carry on the great legacy proudly in the future. But, the picture of British young factory isn’t very beautiful; however it is kept on fading day by day. If we talk about the young minds of Britain, then a contrasting picture appears in mind where there is an iconic epicentre of the world struggling boldly with the daily street life of grime and terror, and violence.

Almost daily, the newspaper headlines cry out world wide about Briain’s troubled youth showcasing stabbings, murders, car and bike theft, robberies, drug abuse, and underage drinking.

For over a decade, the number of persistent young offenders (this can be defined as a young person aged 10 to 17 years old who has been sentenced by any criminal court in the UK on three or more occassions)in  England and Wales has jumped up by two thirds from 9,868  in 1997 to 16,512 in 2007. Rural areas have been worse hit with counties such as Sussex, Gloucestershire, Dorset, and Suffolk showing the biggest increase in youth offending.

Separate figures, released in a Parliamentary answer also showed that the number of convictions for persistent young offenders shot up by 92% from 16,010 in 1997 to 30,683 in 2007. In response to the youth crime in UK, the former Prime Minister Tony Blair made it his goal to change what was happening on the streets of the UK. Government has made 46 strategies since 1997 with provisions to tackle youth crime but the above data shows that they have failed.

The soaring rate in youth related crime is worrying as they are future policy makers and today policies are being made for them to show them the right path. Why teenagers are making not so good headlines in UK? Why the future of Britain in terms of her youth is in serious trouble? and Why all the government programs are crying for help?

Lets peep in to the picture in detail. A teenager with a tattoo on skin, knife in hand, a member of the Gang with lot of anger on face; a typical picture of youth on the streets of London. This dirty frame has many reasons behind it. The very first and foremost is Poverty. In  London, wealth and poverty lives side by side. The glamour and glitz keeps on fading if you comes out of westminster to a dirty smelly street of London. Another prominent reasons could be breakdown in families, dysfunctional social skills, absence of respect, drunkenness, truancy and vandalism.

Increase in the number of Gangs is also a main root of increase in youth crime. 26 young people were killed in gun or knife crime in London in 2007. Peer pressure and wanting to look bad are the two main reasons but the investigations carried out by young reporters in London ( Headliners) showed a very surprising reality that teenagers join Gangs because they are searching for some kind of family unit. Family breakdown and social failure are possible reasons for the growth of antisocial factor.

In 2006, a paper published by the Institute for Public Policy Reasearch, a progressive study group, concluded that Britain’s young people were the worst behaved in Europe, spending less time with their parents, drinking and fighting, trying drugs and sex earlier than their counterparts across the continent.

The article continues by explaining that Britain has one of the worst rates of child poverty despite being one of the wealthiest and prosperous nations on earth. (The Real Truth). In 2005, the number of people who were mugged with a knife jumped by 73%. Reports indicate that seven times as many die from a “sharp instrument” as opposed to a firearm. (The Independent). Among Girls, crimes have increased 25% in only three years. Studies show that Britain had the highest teen pregnancy rate in Western Europe. The BBC reports that this rate is “twice as high as in Germany, three times as high as in France, and six times as high as in Netherlands.” This statistics clearly reveals that British parents are really trying hard teaching children about correct sexual realtions.

BBC reports,”British teenagers outdrink their European counterparts, despite of the tough restrictions imposed by UK government.” According to the World Health Organization, alcohal abuse is responsible for one in eight deaths among youngmen in the UK.

While discussing all these we should not forget to talk about “football violence”. The football hooliganism is something for  which England should be kept responsible. Sports violence is very common in England.

In 2007, UNICEF, published an extensive report on the health and well being of childeren, ranked the United Kingdom last among OECD(Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development) countries. Here are few highlights:

1. Child Poverty remains above 15%.

2. Czech Republic ranks ahead of the UK in child health and safety.

3. In Educational well being, the proportion of young people not looking beyond low skilled work (plumbing, repairing etc)is more than 30%. In United States, it is less than 15%.

4. Less than 70% of children in the UK are living with both parents.

The condition is really sick and Government measures showing almost negligible impact in solving the problem. Several charities are working with youth to help come out of their anger and stress and to engage their minds in a constructive manner. Some young population has come up with an idea of positive Gang Culture which will do all sorts of creative work instead of dealing with gun and knife. Drug Rehablition centres are also running across the country and NHS (National Health Services) is helping young and adults to quit smoking and drinking.

Well, how safe is the future of Britain in the hands of her young populace will be a story to discuss in the time coming. Till, we can crossed our fingers for a happy and ever prosperous  Britain.

Mann Mera

A Journey to Moon

Oh! Wow! Such a lovely morning. Sun is shining and smiling after the snowy days of winter. Well, my winter vaccations are over and now I am all set to my new found job.

Hey, I am very very excited about my new found job. Well the Space agency has hired me as a Tourist Guide to MOON. yes, my dear friend, i am the new tourist guide to moon and will be representing Earth to Moon.  Sounds Good!!!!

After having a very light breakfast, i am ready with my spacesuit on and i just had to go through the details about the directions to moon as this is my first day although the interview did  took place in the moon only but still to do some homework because i dont want to get lost on my way otherwise i will take the tourists to Mars rather than on MOON. I have  rushed to the space agency now, which is not very far from my place, but the traffic has made the things little, rather very difficult. Now as the directions given by the enviornmental authorities, morning duty goers have to use only and only bicycles. well, my bicycle is not very sophisticated so i am on the cycle and the cycle is on the ground, but look at Narayan, he bought the bicycle that can fly!!!! oh my word, when will i earn that much to buy a flying bicycle? well, its just only Narayan gets better pay package because he is the Managing Director in Juipter. Anyways, what to do, people always get more salaries when they go abroad. Me poor girl, will be working in the local and only satellite of our own Earth, the home.

The Tourists were waiting for me the moment i reached space agency. They were all dressed smartly in their space suits. Quickly I checked their tickets and now we are all set to the moon. The agency authorities has asked me not to stop in the middle of the journey because many of the tourists are enjoying the space walk today as it is the “SAVE GALAXY DAY” so people will be given awareness lectures on how to save the Akashganga Galaxy from pollution and manmade nuisance.

I am on my way to moon, the first day of my job. Oh! I forget to tell you the name of my Rocket. Well, it is named after the first Indian who step in the moon!! Come on, you all know ‘her’ name.

After a long journey of two hours, we finally reached the moon. Oh Dear, it is a marvellous beauty! said one tourist, named laxmi. What a mesmerising experience! said Siya. well one by one, everybody was on the moon and we were landed n that part of the moon which belonged to INDIA. The Indian Flag was flying with pride. All the tourists were well trained about the weightlessness in moon and they all were very comfortable.

Do you know about Aliens in moon? asked Ram to me, and i said that once upon a time, the aliens were made very popular by a great filmmaker of bollywood in his movie all about aliens. But no one has seen any alien in the moon so far. Although, the colonies made by Americans  in the moon are well equipped to protect their people from the any danger from the aliens.

We moved forward and I was showing my tourist the great moon hollow areas. I told them that these hollow areas  were once filled by water but the environmental agencies have taken the water back to the earth by a giant water pipe in order to solve the water problem! Everybody was amazed to see and know that.

My next area to show them was the line of control. yes the border that India shares with America  and Great Britain. Although the tourist from rest of the world can come here too but they need special visa.

Now I set my tourists to roam on their own and I quickely handed them the packets of capsules to eat so that they dont feel hungry at all. Tourists were visiting many tuck shops there and were purchasing moon related items to take back to earth. Every shopkeeper has his own rocket and has taken special permission from the people residing in moon. They have promised not to make any mess over there. The shops were decorated very beautifully and most of them were selling the sand of moon and photographs as a soverniers because tourists were not allowed to take any photographs due to security reasons

There was a Foriegn Exchange Bureau also to ease the tourists to buy anything they want. And I noticed that people were really good in bargain.

Now it was the time to go back to Earth. I asked everybody to enter the rocket and to fasten the seat belts. We all were ready to say goodbye to moon and I was happy that I will be coming here everyday! and may be if i will work hard I will get the posting on Mars,! then Juipter! and then Saturn!!!  and my pay package will be ………. will be…………. will be………..

Good Morning, Good Morning, my cuckoo came out of the clock and broke my wondeful dream and  oh God, my salary calculations?, well may be sometimes later in another dreamy journey.

I am standing at the Bus Depot to catch the bus to my office.

sukh

khwab mere
