GLOBAL WARMING & EARTH

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming means an average increase in the Earth’s temperature, which in turn causes drastic changes in climate. This may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. Today when the scientists talk about the issue of climate change, their main worry is about global warming, which is caused by human activities.

The earth has warmed by about 1ºF over the past 100 years.

How, it has warmed like this ?

The scientists are not actually confirmed about it. The earth could be getting warmer on its own, but many of the world’s leading climate scientists think that only the people are responsible for getting the earth warmer.

Besides this the earth is warmed by rays from the sun which pass through the atmosphere and are reflected back out to space again.

The atmosphere’s made up of layers of gases - some of which are called greenhouse gases.  They’re mostly natural and make up a kind of thermal blanket over the Earth.

By choosing modern technology we can reduce protect the planet. These steps will help in curbing global warming, save the money, and create a safer environment for the future generation :

-  Use paper on both sides.

-  Plant a Tree, protect a forest.

-  Try to buy products that don’t use much packaging.

-  Give unwanted gifts and clothes to a charity shop.

-  Only fill the kettle up with the amount of water you need to boil that time.

-  Don’t leave the TV or video on standby.

-  Become a smart water consumer.

-  If you get lift to school in a car, take your mates along for the ride.

-  Ask whoever does your washing to use the machine at 40 degrees - this helps conserve

    power.

-  Switch lights off when you’re not in the room.

-   Get a clockwork mobile phone recharger

-   Have showers while taking bath.

-  Recycle glass bottles, jars, newspapers and magazines and tin cans. Save them and take

    them to local recycling centres.

-   Re-use plastic shopping bags and envelopes, don’t get new ones
