What is RediffBlogs?
RediffBogs is an online interactive community where you can set up your own blog, give vent to your creativity, meet new friends, visit other blogs and comment in them. It's a great way to interact, share and communicate your interests with other like-minded people the world over.

When you sign up with RediffBlogs you will get your own blog. You can post entries whenever you want. You can post pictures. You can also create multiple blogs under one username and password.

How do I create an account?
You have to first get an account with RediffBlogs. Once you have chosen your username and password and completed the registration process, you can sign in using this page. Then click on the 'Create new blog' button and you will be taken to the first page of the blog creation process.

Do I have to create a blog using my own name?
You can create a blog using any name you want. This name will appear at the bottom of every post. If you want to create an anonymous blog, then you can use a different username.

How do I give the title and description?
The title will appear on the top of your blog. The description will appear below the title. A title is required, but the description field can be left blank if you don't want to include one. The title and description should say something about what your readers can expect to read. For example, if you want to showcase your poetry, you can use the title 'Musings' and description as 'The scribbles of a wannabe poet'. If you want your blog to be accessible to others and also be listed in the directory, then choose 'Public Blog' when you are creating your blog. Else, choose "No" if you want to keep it private.

Can I host my blog on my own server?
Currently, your blog will be hosted on the RediffBlogs server.

What is a template?
Next you will be asked to choose the template for your blog. This template will determine the appearance and format of your blog page. You can choose from any the options you can see on the page. You can change the template later. If you know HTML, you also have the option of changing your template to customize the look of the page as per your requirements. Once you have selected your template, the next step will take you to the posting interface where you can start adding entries to your blog.

How do I post an entry?
Once you have selected your template, you are now ready to make your first post. Type text in the white text field in the top half of the screen. The frame is adjustable and if you move the cursor over the middle, you can vary the size of the typing area according to your convenience. When you can completed writing a post, click on the post button to preview what you have written.

Can I edit a post?
If you are not satisfied with your entry, click on the edit button, make the changes and click post again.

How do I publish my entry?
Once you are completely satisfied, click on the publish button. The latest entry will now be reflected on your blog.

Can I delete a post?
You can delete a post completely by selecting it and then clicking on the delete button.

Can I change or delete a post after publishing?
Yes, you can. All you need to do is click on the edit button below the entry you want to delete. The post will appear in the top screen. Make the changes, post it and when you are satisfied, click on publish it again. Your blog with be republished with your changes.

What is the Blog Manager?
This is the page you will come to, when you sign in to use RediffBlogs. It is similar to a control panel and will give you a view of all your blogs (if you have more than one). The blog manager also allows you to 'View', 'Delete' and 'Email' the blog.

What can I do with the 'View' option?
Clicking on 'View' will take you to the settings for the chosen blog. You can now post a new entry, delete an entry, change your template, archives or carry out any activity related to that particular blog.

What can I do with the 'Delete' option?
This allows you to completely delete your blog. You will be asked to confirm, once you have chosen 'Delete'. Please remember that you will be deleting the blog, and not an individual post with this option, so do be careful.

What can I do with the 'Email' option?
To send your blog to a friend, you can use this option.

What is the blog builder?
Once you have chosen your blog from the blog manager page, you are now in your blog builder page. Any changes you make here will be reflected on the chosen blog.

Can I change my blog from this page?
The 'Post to' will indicate which blog you have chosen to work on. To go to another blog (if you have more than one) chose it from the 'My Blogs' dropdown and the blog builder will change to indicate that particular blog.

Where do I type my entry?
The top half of the blog builder page is your typing area where you can make your entry. For editing, posting and viewing instructions, go here (above on the same page).

How do I make my text bold? What are the other format tools?
To the top right corner, are a set of seven buttons which will help you format your text, without actually inserting any HTML code yourself. The buttons are:
- Bold Text - This tag makes your text appear bold.
- Italics - This tag italicizes your text.
- Underline - This tag underlines your text.
- Horizontal line - This tag inserts a horizontal line.
- Paragraph Break - HTML automatically adds an extra blank line before and after a paragraph.
- Insert URL (Link) - This tag allows you to link your post to other websites.
- Insert Anchor (Link) - This tag allows you to insert bookmarks in your text.

What can I do with the Settings button?
This allows you to change a few parameters you provided when you registered your blog.
For example, Settings allows you to change the Title and Description of your blog. You can also change the frequency of you archiving (for example from weekly to daily). This will mean, that your posts will go into the archives everyday, and only the latest will be displayed on your main blog page.

What are the Favourite Links?
You are allowed to add three links to your navigation. To change these links, add the new URLs in the space provided. These three links will be displayed on your blog page.

What can I do with the Template option?
You can use this option to do two things.
To change the look of your blog - When you register your blog, you are asked to choose a template. To change over to a new one, select the 'Choose another template' link and you will be taken to the other available templates. Click against the new template and click on 'Save'. You will be returned to your Blog Builder template. You will have to 'Post and Publish' your blog. Then 'View Blog' to check the new look of you blog!
Edit your template - If you are familiar with HTML, you can also choose to make changes within your template. For example, you might want to add links to a few sites that you like, other bloggers sites or the font colour of a certain link. Please follow the instructions on the Edit Template page before going ahead with any changes you make to your template. This option is recommended only if you know your HTML!

What is the Posts option?
This will bring you back to your Blog Builder page, from wherever you are.
