Attitudes that need to change

To be respected and loved is a primordial instinct in humans.

One may earn the respect of those around them by many different ways. One may prove to be a good leader or a just ruler or possess some incredible talent or be highly intelligent ' are just some ways by which one earns the respect of others. However, these require that the individual have steadfastness, faith, courage, and a good-heart. The individual is also required to work hard and work honestly, which is a difficult ask.

That is why most people in power have come on top using the other way of earning respect. This method involves the use of force, coercion, intimidation, blackmail, begging, bribing, stealing, cheating, and an 'n' no. of other ways. I need not give examples of these people. You probably know one. You probably are one. Politicians, Bureaucrats and the people engaged in criminal activities like extortion and smuggling top the list, but there are many more examples.

Why do such people exist?

One reason could be that the rules are not strict enough. However, isn't it contradictory? Let me tell you why. Consider the case of a criminal. He probably did not want to live a life of crime at the age of, say, six. He probably wanted to become one of the three pillar professions according to Indian narrow-mindedness; i.e. a lawyer, or a doctor or an engineer. What led him to a life of crime?  Bad company? Yeah, maybe. I, however, think that he failed to meet the standards set by the system. If he wanted to become a doctor, he had to work hard get good grades etc. How many people have failed to achieve this? Millions. He did not want to become like them. On the other hand, maybe he did try, but later failed. So he quit.

Quitters always look for the easy way. That is why he led a life of crime. That is why suicide is considered a crime ' it is the easy way. The fact that nearly everyone has done something wrong knowingly or has used the 'jugaad' technique is an indication of how rough the system is. The so-called creamy layer is selected. How many of you have cheated in a test? 99%. This is because you know if you are not in the top 5%, no one will bother to consider you.

Cheating on a test, however, is a milder crime as compared to, say, shirking important work since you are in a superior position. This is because the stakes are high.

Also, notice that you must be bossy to someone. It could be your wife, or your servant, or your student, or your daughter or anybody. It is mandatory to rule over someone. This satisfies our ego - the main cause of the superiority complex.

I am going to continue with this series of attitudes that need to change. I would appreciate if you gave your opinion.

Back with a …. ah screw it … it’s me again!

YES! Finally back. Ok, sorry guys, had exams and stuff going on for the last 2 months, but hopefully i’m gonna continue bloggin’ frequently for a while.

Well, I’d like to kick off this new avatar of mine by saying (a belated) HAPPY NEW YEAR! to all my friends.

So, down to business - MY THOUGHTS.

Ya see, i’m been feeling kinda down these days because of well… my academic performance. I’m getting like an average GPA of about 7.7ish for the past few semesters in college and it is getting really frustrating, I mean did you ever just wanna scream and say ‘just give me some damn good grades, GOD?!’ Well, I felt like that but obviously, it’s not that easy.

Did you guys ever feel like that?

Send in your comments.

I’m preparing for GATE life sciences and it is re-e-eally takin’ a toll on me. Of couse i can appear the next year, but i’m afraid if i don’t score well on this attempt, it may hurt my confidence.

Ok, whatever, so I also wanna say, publicly, that I am finally convinced that BUSH IS A MASS MURDERER.

Well, then c ya guys later. Bye!

Mahesh

I am a hypocrite

Is it a natural tendency to act as if one is a different person? Why is it that we wear these masks once we leave the solitude of home, or is it just me in the whole world that does that? When I blog I am a different person.

I wish to thank all the people who have replied to my blogs, but advise them not to take me for face value. For though I talk of peace and post my antiterror feelings on my blogs, in reality I am weak. A coward who uses the backdrop of the World Wide Web to express his views.

what can i do to have more courage. I want to do something meaningful. I don’t mean like change the world. That is too big a task, but i want to at least change my self and accompish the goals I have set for myself - every1 wants to. For the first time, I have talked of myself at such length and forgive me if i bore you, but after all, that is what blogs are for, right?

PEACE TO ALL

On this day, my brethren, I have but one prayer - Hate not. Yes, I know it is difficult to do, but just try.

Remember this. Hitler was a man who had a lot of anger within him. As a child even he used to throw tantrums. It is of no surprise then, that his ire would someday be directed against someone. What is surprising is that his anger was with an entire race.

See, how ONE man’s hate gave the world so much loss. Imagine what would happen if we all became intolerant?

Yes, anger is a natural emotion and feeling anger (just like feeling fear) is alright, but it should not manifest itself into something destructive.

I write this blog on the 5th anniversary of Sept 11th, a day which had changed our history forever. It was also an act carried out because of hate. Perhaps the hate had a justifyable cause, but when innocents die; even in the name of God - It is not humanity.

What kind of a God favours one race over the other? One man over another. We are all equals.

So my wish tonight - PEACE ON EARTH TO ALL MANKIND

(My apologies to anyone of the semitic faith if I may have mentioned some offensive names in this Blog and anyone of the Islamic community who believes what happened on that fateful day in New York and what happened in Mumbai were acts of heroism; because they were not - they were cowardly)

Journey with no purpose

I often wonder where this path I walk on will take me. It is a road that we traverse, all of us, until we get tired, or the road simply runs out on us.

Who knows what will await me at the turn. Perhaps I will reach another destination than what I hoped for.
I yearn for a better destination, I yearn for a road that will take me to a place; where I can grow old, play with my grandchildren and just pass away. I want mother earth to gently bid me adieu.

Just as the autumn tree drops its withered leaves unto the foundation below, mother earth must also set free its children.
Her children like me.
I do not want the path to lead to adventure - for I tire easily of it. I just want to be free. Free of choice. Free of stress. Free of my destiny.

There are those who search for a purpose to be alive. I am just happy that I am alive.

There are those who want to be remembered even when they have passed. I will be happy if everyone forgot me.

There are those who wish to change the world. I am just happy here. Right now.

In fact - why must I move on this road in the first place?
Just let me sit here. Make me not go on top of mountains. Make me not swim the sea. Just let me be. I have hurt no one. Why should someone hurt me? Do you see the turn there. Yes, that is the one. I will rest there - so that Mother Earth may release me.

“Go my child. Play. Be carefree.”

The NorthWestern Issue

I just cannot imagine the day it will be like when we can celebrate a festival without having the fear of a terrorist attack. The problem with terrorism is that it can strike at anytime and anywhere.

Is it any wonder then that 12 Indians were detained on Northwestern Airlines. Can we really blame the Dutch? The media talks about ‘increasing racial discrimination against brown people’ as if the west is to be blamed for being cautious.

Let’s see, with most, if not all, terrorist attacks in the UK master-minded by brown skinned people can we point a finger at the Dutch? I DON’T THINK THE DUTCH OWE US AN APOLOGY. They were simply taking precautionary measures after watching the concerned passengers losing all sense of Decorum on the plane. This aroused their suspicion. Anyone would be suspicious after watching such a pathetic show of negligence.

The worst part is, innocent Hindus and Sikhs have faced backlashes and the real perpetrators are still on the loose. That is justice. Wow!

So, in short, the Dutch did the right thing. And as Indians we must be more careful of what we do and be more accountble for our actions.

RTI - Now I know Everything

India is not exactly a Democracy. I came to know this (as if it wasn’t glaringly obvious before) this morning after I read about the Amendments made to the Right To Information(RTI) Act. So now, if your Rs. 75 lakhs worth villa is demolished or your passport denied for no apparent reason - you will not know why. This is because the File Noting (or simply File in common usage) will only reveal part of the story to you…
The part that you already know!

If you are completely clueless about what I am saying - let me fill you in. You see everytime you want some official work done by the Government, as you know, you have to be tortured with the paperwork, then the months of waiting, then the paperwork again and so forth. So your ‘File’ will be covered in oodles and oodles of Bureaucratic Red Tape (BRT - that is something I made up) before it reaches your hands.

Now, in your File the right hand pages will from now on have Information about your registration and the judgement as passed by a higher Authority. The left hand pages or the GREEN PAGES will have the reasons, the comments and the name of the Authority that has denied or permitted your case. From now on, YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE GREEN PAGE.

So, for all of you who know this by now, sorry for the boring education. For all of you that did not know this - get ready to know nothing. Because the Right To Information Act has decided to give you Right To NO Information.

Like I said India isn’t a Democracy. It is ruled by the Bureacracy.

Edit : the Right to Information allows us to know what why we are denied something (ie it maintains transparency) and I  missed the point with this particular post…so sorry to mislead people

SLOTH BEARs EXIST IN INDIA - THE OLD LADY’S BAG

So here I am stupid old me scribbling some rubbarb that people are too lazy to read. And that’s my point - this country is full of Sloths. The Sloth bear lives in India and though it isn’t exactly lazy it does move really slowly unless it is being attacked.

But bears aside, we Indians are social sloths. That means we are active at office (hopefully) and perhaps at home but we never care about social needs. Who has the energy to help an old lady across the street, for e.g.?

So, one might argue that we are not lazy, we are just not interested that is all. Ok, but manic depression, which results in a person sleeping upto 18 hours a day is also caused bcoz of a lack of interest.

The other day I was on a bus and an old lady wanted her bag(which wasnt too heavy) to be lifted out of the bus as she had to get off at the next stand. The poor thing couldn’t carry it since she was already carrying something else and besides, she had trouble walking let alone lifting.

So this lady asked some men on the bus to help her. They all looked away! I was shocked. These guys at anyother time would show off their machismo and boast about how strong they were but were too lazy to get up help an old woman with her luggage and get on the bus again. Anyway, I had to get off at the same stand (with the old lady and another man - twice my size) so I offered to help.

So there you have it our moral obligations are gone down the drain India. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Now, excuse me as I take a nap….
