Many of my friends may not agree with me but this is a hard truth that we pay our taxes when no way is left with us to evade taxes after taking advantage of all tax saving schemes sometimes utilizing some fake bills also. Anyway, despite this, today govenrment's tax collection is very good and getting better with the boom in economy and consumption. By writing the above notes, I want to attract the attention of my friends towards the fact that whatever is the way, either our compulsion or by choice, we pay a healthy amount of taxes every year for nation's growth. At the same time it is a well known truth that money collected as taxes by our government is hardly getting utilized for our welfare in the form of rail, road, airports infrastructure, education or health sector because all sectors are in bad shape. Then where does this money goes at all? A layman's answer is corruption and that is true up to some extent. Corruption is a hidden phenomenon and has become an acceptable disease worldwide. In addition to corruption, one more surprising disease I want to bring to your notice is the business of votes utilizing our taxes has increased in past 20 years. I would cite three examples to explain this: An interesting fact from the above three examples is that, in all cases the politicians won with a thumping majority who announced these schemes and did good political business next five years. Not the last one but the latest by our dear Manmohan Singh and Madam Sonia duo from central government is the 'rural rojgar guarantee bill' where multi million crores are getting wasted and our highways are waiting for funds. One more project still hanging in Supreme Court, dearest to our dear and long living Arjun Singh is the OBC quota bill, where trio(mms, sg & as) are committed to spend multi million crores to increase the seats for Quota students. This is the direct purchase of votes for forthcoming elections. All of us know this but my basic purpose to post this blog is to provoke the reader to become a vote bank and put a brave resistance to such kind of politics. In addition to taxes, we need to pay our votes also and get something done for our interests. At last one quote from me. Please think it over. "For most of us, tax is our compulsion, hence we give it. Vote is our choice, hence we hardly give it".

Actual problem is huge population of India/ We have produced beggers and sefish people. You analyze any family with 4 or more children. The head of the family toils throughout his life to feed his children by unfair means. And this inculcates fathers ideas in to the childrens mind. And the cycle of immoral people multiplies rapidly. And the end result is a whole lot of beggers and looters.
Two things; First money is actually going back to the people so where is the corruption. Second even the rich pay huge taxes when they spend in a luxury hotel or buy a big car or make a big house, indirect taxes are paid.
nice idea!
DV Inspite of what you feel or say the fact is that it is mostly the salaried people who pay taxes regularly and honestly. Apart from that most of our politicians, friends in high places, farmers do know how to get around not paying taxes. If you see there are two India”s, one rich and powerful and the other Poor mans India. As you have been emphasising people need to come out and vote but unfortunately the lure of Power is so strong that even honest guys start playing God and we end up as being loosers
DV, as you know I dont agree 100% with what you say. The problem lies not with us not casting our votes, since a lot of people I know do. The problem lies in the votes not counting for anything against the backdrop of the onslaght of votes from the people getting the largese. The malaise in our society lies in the fact that only 2% of the population pays the taxes whereas the actual money flows in an undercurrent never detected. I had in one of my blogs mentioned toungue in cheek that the day India would come of age would be the day when a beggar would need a PAN card before he could beg. Just imagine taking 30% of the income floating under the surface in the beggar population. You could change the face of Indian infrastructure and nwot even feel the pinch.
The problem is not why vote? The problem is whom to vote? We are traped between the devil and the deep sea. One plays the caste card other plays the religion. The third is out of their wits, what to do?
i agree with you
politicians are able to play such tricks b”coz the public values TV more than hospitals, roads and other things or may be these things come as direct benefit to them individually than others things which is exploited by the politicians to lure vote bank. Also the politicians take advantage of the caste division and religion division existing in this country which is very sad. So I feel first the attitude of people shd change and they shd not succumb to these temptations and become more mature and intelligent.
i will read other blogs too but i completely agree with what u said @ votes! even i feel that we dont vote & so we suffer!
DV,i can”t agree more than 120% with you.u r speaking my mind.
