A Memorable Evening at Dakshineswar Temple

It was a Sunday evening.  I went to the Kali temple at Dakshineswar in Kolkata.  It was around 6 p.m.  I saw the room where Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa lived is filled with incense and the perfume of the incense will mesmerize you.  It will take you into a dream world.  It will take you into a world where the good thoughts rule and bad thoughts cease to exist.  You will feel enlightened if you meditate in this room.  You will feel that the whole world’s peace is in this room.  You will feel to stay in this room for hours.  Many people sit in this room.  So its advisable to leave the room quickly.  Still devotees like me sit there.

On that particular Sunday, there was a devotional song being played at the outside in loudspeakers. The song was “Khandana Tobo.”  It was a devotional song in Bengali often played at the time of the worship of the lord at the Belur Math.  It’s a wonderful feeling, a wonderful experience when all the devotees meditate in a room.  There is a wonderful silence.  Where there is calm, where there is peace, I feel really happy to sit in this place and meditate for a while forgetting the anxieties of the world.  Once you put your mind in the devotion of the Lord, you will feel the troubles of life less painful, petty things in life will not bother you and you will feel an inwardly cool.

This Sunday evening became memorable in my life.  The statue erected in front of the Kali Temple at Dakshinewar is worth visiting.  You can also see the statue.  It is just beside the library of the temple.  The white statue of Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa Dev is simple enigmatic!!

I would always advise you to go the Dakshineswar temple at least once a month and stand a few minutes looking at the Ganges.  In the evening, the lights glittering on the banks of the Howrah is worth watch.  The bridge lights add charm to your view.  One feel as if the stars of the sky are kissing Mother Earth.

My 27th Birthday-A Musical Evening

Time has changed.  I have seen in my last birthday many of my guests but this birthday was too slow to start.  It started around 9 p.m.  Yes!! 9 p.m.  It was a rainy evening.  The day started with my office.  I went to office around 7 a.m. in spite of my dad's insistence of not going to office.  I returned to my home around 6 p.m. as the work went on smoothly just like a person moving slowing over a snowy mountain! Whoooooooosh!!!  I returned home, washed myself and dressed up neatly, took the tiffin and sat with my synthesizer.

I started playing my synthesizer.  The company name of the keyboard is Casio.  The model number is Casiotone CT-670.  I started playing synthesizer and played for more than an hour.  I began with piano from tonebank and chose beat 6.5 and started playing the tune in Waltz.  I started playing Charade.  It is one of my favorite tune.  I played this tune in my school, St. Thomas' Church in its auditorium.  I played this tune closing my eyes and audience appreciated.  I was playing this tune this evening on September 16 closing my eyes.  Outside rain was falling slowly.  Then it started to rain heavily.  Then I played Alo Amaar Alo ("Light My Light!") by Rabindranath Tagore.  I played this tune in front of V. Balsara also.  I played it in at the admission test of the institute at Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata called Sourav.  It is a wonderful tune with a lot of beauty in beat.  In Bengali, we call it "Dadra."  This music has its own beauty.  The chords and the mechanical beats add an additional charm to the atmosphere of my room where the only audience was grandma and my mother was in the next room.  I was playing this tune and the tube light lit room painted in sky blue.  The help of my Orkut friend has helped me to play my keyboard again.  It had stopped playing and a key pressed was starting the beat.  It was cured effectively and the sound of the synthesizer enhanced by "Sayan Electronics."  They charged Rs. 650 and it was cured and now I can play it with satisfaction.  It was a servicing and repairing work that I did after a long time taking the address from Tapan-da who is my friend in the networking site called "Orkut."

I played

Pran Chai Chokkhu Na Chai

Purano Sei Diner Katha

Come September .

Mayabono Biharini ..

Yankee Doodle ..

Que Sera Sera

O Little Town of Bethlehem ..

Jaane Kahaa Gaye Woh Din ..

Jindagi .

Yeh Meri Humsafar ..

Kuch Naa Kaho ..

Ajeeb Dastaan Hain Yeh

Bheegi bheegi si .

Baazigar ..

Etc.

I invited my office colleague Sanjay Das, a relative who lives in Kalindi, my uncle's brother and his wife and two school friends.  The two school friends are Sourav and Srijan.  Srijan is a homeopathic doctor.  Sourav is a Mass Communications teacher at Gurudas College.  He worked for 9 years with his theater group Spandan along with my school friends.  He also writes in little magazines.  He is a wonderful person who kept me smiling as long as he stayed with wonderful memories of our school life.  Srijan had exam.  So he did not attend my party.  Sourav patiently listened to my keyboard music and my harmonica.  He remarked that he likes this instrument.  He said, "I feel great when I listen to this music."  I showed him some of the photos of Ghatsila and he said he went to that place a year ago.  He said that he visits many places as his students needs to make video.  He assists them in creating their original video.  He is presently the Head of the Department of Gurudas College.  He has cleared NET and his words will definitely make you feel "happy."  I found that he is the nice person who can make you happy in your "Happy Birthday."  He gifted me one of his creative writing.  It was a drama book by him and his friend.  He gave me a birthday greeting card by the group Spandan.  He also gave me a sky blue photo frame which was decorated with colorful flowers on its 4 rectangular edges!  The gift when given by a person really lovable like Sourav add extra charm to it!  It becomes sweet!!  His inspiring words opened a new frontier in a friend's mind.  Just like me he is too busy with his work and he told me in this way:  "Every phase of life has its own charm you need to enjoy it!"  He told me these words as he was moving towards his home.  A wonderful friend is Sourav whose presence leaves a mark on your mind.  He finds a place in your soul with his sheer words.  My uncle's brother, Anirban-da and his wife Sonali gifted with a box of chocolates.  My office, Infovision Software Private Limited, gave me a gift of 3 Cadbury Chocolates wrapped in decorated papers with "Happy Birthday Pratanu" written over it.

In my office, Subhra Sengupta greeted me first after she noticed the announcement on the notice board.  It is the custom of our company to announce the birthday of every employee and everybody gets a gift just like meeeeeeee!! J It makes them smile like this!! JJ J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J

A smiling face motivates the employee to work hard.  I should thank my company, Infovision Software Private Limited for giving me a gift like chocolate and it is not only 1 but 3 bars of yummy yummy chocolates.  A recent scientific study confirms that chocolate elevates your mood and makes you happy!!  The other employees greeted me and from the management, Amina Ghosh first came and greeted me.  I bought 3 bars of Cadbury Chocolate and distributed the chocos among friends.  My friends were happy.  When I went to give chocolate to Soumendu Banerjee, he enquired about my age and said, "You look so young!"  He is a lovable person whose words will give you a belly laugh!  He is really a charming person!

So the day passed nicely.  I went to sleep around 11 p.m. which was quite late as I needed to wake up in the morning around 6, get prepared and go to the office.  I felt though my visitors came late, their presence gave me a satisfaction, which I cannot forget throughout my life.  I was wish "Happy Birthday" by my Jethima and her daughter "Saheli" who are very close relative to me!  Their absence from Kolkata was fulfilled when they phoned from Mumbai!  Its wonderful to talk with them on this wonderful day!  Their wish added a "Feel Good Factor" in the evening.
