AJANTA CIRCUS

On December 28, 2009, I wanted to see the Ajanta Circus.  I was lucky enough to get some time off from my busy work schedule at the back office.  I took a bus and went straight to Park Circus to see the show at 1 p.m.  I reached one hour before.  I started listening to radio and browsing from channel to channel one hour passed away quickly.  I bought a ticket and entered through the main gate.  There were several rates for tickets Rs. 30, Rs. 60, Rs. 100 etc.

I sat and saw a beautiful tune was being played by the musician on the top of the gate where the circus performers will enter.  Beside that gate, there is a globe with perforations where three motor cyclists performed.  They were encircling the globe in three directions and their velocity is very fast.  But unusually they are not colliding.

I was amazed to see the performers of the Ajanta Circus are not only Indian but there were performers from Russia, Africa, Mongolia.  Its interesting to see the stature of the African men They have broad chest and their ebony black skin color shining under the lights.  They are very energetic and had shown us a lot of gymnastic feats with the chairs.  Their balancing act is amazing.  Their body is like a plastic and it can be bent easily at will.  I can also show some as I do yoga regularly!

Circus is an art and you can see it in the performers of Russia.  Their flexible body twisting and turning swiftly will amaze you and you will see their performance spellbound!  Their rope gymnastics and their balancing of their bodies in air are amazing.  Some things in life are truly amazing and gymnastic is one such amazing thing and I have heard of that as most of you that Nadia Comaneci had scored 10 out of 10 which is a  rare feat!

The clowns of circus are certainly a great attraction.  On one show, one dwarf man was trying to cut hair of the other one with a big scissors.  The other one was moving away in fear and the size of those men will make you laugh and their shrieks will give you a belly laugh.

The elephants are seen hear to play drums and play cricket.  The way the elephants are striking every ball can give a run for money for the cricket players in the international team of Team India.  Their training seemed to be very good.

Now comes the parrots.  Here the parrots are not talking but their dribbling over the stage on a bar will amaze you. Their beautiful movements are really worth mentioning.

Oh I forgot to tell you the short and long part of the story.  The tallest man came first at the show.  Though he was not at all tall, he had a false feet.  He was accompanied by a dwarf.  All the spectators were laughing out loudly.  This humor adds spice to life.

Human pyramid was shown by the African performers.  On one of them, stood another and then another and on both sides another and its amazing to see how they tolerate and withstand each others weight.  Its nice to see how they coordinate and form that pyramid.  Thats a balancing act and it is also important in daily life and this coordination in a team can lead quickly to success.

Ring dance was another amazing show.  A girl came and started dancing with one ring, then another and gradually a large number of rings, she swayed her belly clockwise and anticlockwise without a single ring falling down.  She took some rings on her left and some on the right and the spectators were spellbound!

My visit to Ajanta Circus was really worth remembering.  Last year, I had seen Nataraj and Russian circus and this year I had the wonderful opportunity to visit this circus and  felt fortunate to see the skills of the performers across different nations.  This demonstration of skills is really awesome and praiseworthy and the visitor feels to come and see the show again and again!

Dream of Becoming A Doctor

I was going through The Times of India newspaper when I came across the news of a girl from Puducherry.  She loves medicine so much that at an age of seven, she can remember vast information that aspiring doctors struggle to remember for building a career in medicine.  The name of the genius is Bakkiashri Baskar.  At 7 years of age, she knows the right medicine for more than 1000 ailments.  It ranges from headache to dreaded diseases.  A number of doctors from Puducherry tested her skills and found that its right.  She is really a genius!!  Her parents claim that she does not like going to cinema and theater.  She loves reading medical books and her father helped her and has spent Rs. 40,000 on medical books. Her dream is to be a doctor and find a cure of cancer.  Hardly at such a young age, somebody can dare to dream like her!  Her father is a graduate in Zoology and plans to approach the medical institutions that are willing to relax the age limit for Bakkiashri to sit for examinations.

I find this news really interesting and inspiring.  Many people will be inspired to know the mental power of human being.  Photographic memory is something which is God gifted.  It is really wonderful and astonishing and everybody should help her achieve her goal.

The Effect of Internet on Real Life Dating and Intimacy

Online dating is affecting the real life ones.  We meet different people over the net and talk with them online.  Most of the time is spent and one person can have a large number of dating partners as compared to real life dating.  If we look into the matter deeply, we find that real life dating is costly.  You have to arrange for a spot to meet, spend money of food and gifts to please your partner etc.  In internet dating, you can sent a beautiful message, which can easily draw the attention.  You can comment on the photo in a beautiful language.  It is the language, your profile photo and profile design that matters in internet dating.

Researchers in Australia have conducted a web audit on over 60 online dating sites and in-depth interviews and found that the internet is altering the dating, emotion and intimacy.  If your profile is designed with beautiful language, attractive designs and very attractive photos in your album, you will become popular and get a lot of friends who will want to be intimate with you.  But if the profile is not attractive, you will have less friends.  People will talk less even if you come online.

The world has changed a lot.  I mean to say you may be a different person but your profile in the social networking site with beautiful language and design may take you to a completely different social status in society.  In this way, through online dating, many girls fall in love with boys whom they find totally different or freak in real life.  So never trust the online profile of your friends.  It might be deceptive.

Ultraviolet Rays as Medium of Communication

The ultraviolet rays are invisible to the human eye.  The female Chinese jumping spiders use these rays.  They use this ray during mating season.  I congratulate the researchers from the National University of Singapore.  They provided the first evidence of animals using ultraviolets rays for communicating with member of its species.

The researchers made a series of mate choice experiments with Chinese Jumping Spiders.  The female spiders are known to mate with males that reflect ultraviolet rays than those who do not.

Human beings use body language as a medium of communication.  Language plays a vital role in communication.  Body language suggests what is in the mind of the person you are talking to.  What is really fascinating about man is that this body language is independent of the person's upbringing.  It cannot be taught and it is an involuntary action, as I have felt talking with a wide range of people as an anthropology student and also as a keen observer of human beings.  If you show respect to a person, say leaving a seat in the bus, he shows some kindness to you.  What you think throughout the day is reflected on your face.  You might think that nobody is looking at you, but you will find that being the most intelligent being in the animal kingdom, man can surpass other animals in terms of cheating.  You never know what the person is going to do next.  About the choice of mate, its hardly predictable.  A boy infatuated by the girl loves her and she pretends loving him or rather she loves him truly but as she sees a better boy with bright prospect in career, she tries to switch over.  For this reason, I have seen cases of murders in the newspapers.  Body language knowledge becomes useful for the interviewee who wants to pass the interview and land on a job and its important for the interviewer who wants to get the right candidate.  If human beings had emitted ultraviolet rays like these spiders, then I must say with a smile, things would have been much easier.

Relation between high IQ and death risk

Researchers of the Wellcome Trust in Sweden feel that there is a strong relationship between cognitive ability and the risk of death.  This conclusion has been drawn after studying 1 million men.  Dr. David Batty who is a Wellcome Trust research fellow at MRC Social and Public Health Science thinks that lower IQ is associated with death risks from coronary artery disease, suicide, etc.

The study is relevant in modern times.  I read many people committing suicide in Metro Railways in Kolkata.  As a result, normal life of commuters of Metro is hampered.  The trains are stopped for the time and many people has to suffer due to mental disbalance of a single individual.  In this society, it is important to keep your mind calm and cool and work towards your goal.  If your goal is to become an engineer and you fail to be, never get depressed but try something else.  There are a lot of options in career.  Never be upset at the little things of life or you will miss the bigger opportunities.

Role of Music in Brain Development

Your child may be playing music for a long time.  But have you ever thought music is nourishing his brain and developing in a way quite different from a taxi driver.  Our brain develops and grows depending on our activities. Brain scans revealed the remarkable finding.  The study shows that proficiency and skill depends on hand graft not on innate genius.  Harvard Medical School is doing this wonderful research of the effect  of music on human brain.  Gottfried Schlaug of Harvard opines this is the first paper showing differential brain development of children who learned and played musical instrument and those who did not.

He tested musically untrained 6-year-olds from Boston area, 15 received keyboard lessons for 15 months and 16 did not.  Magnetic resonance imaging were done of the brain of both groups of children and compared.

Conclusion:  The auditory and motor areas of the brain linked respectively with hearing and dexterity grew larger only in the trainee musicians.  The musicians outperformed others in activities involving manual dexterity and discrimination of sounds. The study tells us brain tissues change with exercise.  So another question arises:  Does the effect becomes reverse without practice?

Bees Truly Appreciate an Attractive Flower

Flowers have inspired human being for their attractiveness
and fragrance.  Scientists have recently
found that bees can truly appreciate the beauty of a flower.  The researchers at Cambridge University
revealed that the flowers take on different colors depending on the angle they
are viewed.  The plant petals use the
property of iridescence.  This is a way
to attract the pollinators, i.e. bees.
This is similar to a CD which reflects colors and we see rainbow colors,
isn't it?  So this is different from
visible colors.  So the iridescence and
color pigments are the ways to attract the pollinators.  A young girl in human society attracts male
friends by her beauty, words, body odors, personality, etc.  The flower attracts pollinators in only one
way, i.e. iridescence.  Beverly Glover
being the lead scientist tells us their initial survey on plants suggests
iridescence may be widespread!!

From the gardening to agriculture, flowers and their
pollinators play a major role in our daily lives and their signaling to each
other with iridescence i.e. flashing multicolors are really wonderful and
fascinating.  If human beings could have
this iridescent property, then we would have better appreciators, but
unfortunately we don't have such a beautiful natural trait like the flowers! J

The bumblebees could separate iridescence and color in
Hibiscus and tulip flowers.

Making an experiment with bumblebees'''

The bumblebees were taught to recognize that iridescent
discs containing yellow, blue or violet pigments offered a sugary reward.  They learned to fly to these discs and avoid
others with the same pigments that are not iridescent.

New Species of Humming Bird

A new species of humming bird have been discovered.  The Gorgetted Puffleg is a rare species of humming bird.  It has a plumage of violet blue and iridescent green decorating its throat.  This bird has been discovered in the forest of Southwestern Columbia.  This species of bird is facing the threat of extinction.  The farmers in this region cultivate cocoa in a slash and burn system.  This cocoa is used in the production of cocaine.  The name puffleg comes due to the presence of a thing like cotton balls in their legs.

In the nature, there are so many species.  We have discovered so many, still you will find that new species gets discovered.  You will see that the human exploitation of nature for wood and cultivation and industrialization is making the species extinct.  Beautiful birds like this species of humming bird is facing the threat of extinction.

Sometimes I see The National Geographic Channel and buy the journals for gaining more knowledge about nature.  I love nature and love to know more about nature.  I feel that birds should be preserved and unnecessary deforestation is forcing nature lose its balance.  A time will come when man's greed for more space to live will force him to lead in an artificial world, in a world of concrete jungles.  I think that humming bird has a beauty and charm that surpasses the colorful parrots and other exotic African birds.

Life in outer space..is it possible?

The ambition of man going to space has been accomplished long ago.  Now man wants to find life in space.  A mission specialist from Endevour, which returned to earth in March thinks that there is definitely some life out there in space.  He thinks that the life will not be like in the earth.  He told that the possibility of life might be present in any part of the university.  He was in a conference of Tokyo.  He was in a 16-day mission.  Gregory Johnson is another astronaut who also believes that there is life in the distant galaxies.

Now just close your eyes.  Imagine .

You are selected by a space exploration team

You are one of the astronaut ..

You have been trained for months to live in space ..

You move out of this earth ..

You move out in space ..

You travel millions of kilometers ..

You travel and take photographs of the distant stars and planet ..

You went as far as the planet MARS ..

Encircled the planet

Took lots of photos .

Had a lot of fun within the space ship ..

You have probably read Tintin's Destination to the Moon or like that

You feel the beauty of traveling space .

Yes!!! You can travel space ..but u need to have lots of money for the training and journey ..

Its exciting!!  You return to the earth and write about it in blogs ..

You feel on top of the world for having conquered space isn't it?

But at the end of this space exploration, u find that there are a lot of things to do lot of problems in your life why not man solve these things first .?  Why do we waste millions of dollars in space research, ..why?  There can be useful research ..also which will help people live a better life isn't it?

I do not think life in outer space is possible.  If at all there is life, we will not be able to communicate with them as the language of their communication will be totally different from ours isn't it?
