A melange of memories

“Yaaron dosti badi hi hassen hai .yeh naa ho toh phir kya bolo yeh zindagi hai”.This song played in my head while i sat to write this blog .If there was any ‘Guinness book of records ‘ for being the most exciting and eventful year ,2010 would be the clear cut winner.
It just feels like yesterday when i stepped in Pune and Ranade building. My first reaction was of utter disbelief .I had not expected my college would turn out this way.But like a classmate said, this place grows on you.Ranade is like a heady cocktail that makes you tipsy in the beginning and then sloshes you completely with its charm and enigma.Happiness, warmth being its concoction.
It was here that i learned the nitty-gritty of journalism, honed my skills and met some awesome people.I remember being so-very-introvert before coming but thanks to this place i am not-very-introvert now.I would treasure the experience-whether good or bad and the moment spent here.
Here is a little list down of the people and things that i loved in college and would cherish it for all my life :
Maitryee -for always being there for me.You are one of the best thing that happened to me after i came to Pune.I never imagined i could be friends with you but now you are one of the most wonderful person in my life.I admire you for being the free spirited and fiercely independent person that you are.keep being this way!
Bitopi - You are my first  north eastern friend. Thanks for making me feel like a kid.Trust me you are the only person in the world who thinks this way ;)
Sneha-Thanks for correcting my flawed Marathi. If at all i am able to speak flawless Marathi ,you would get the entire credit for it .
Yogendra -You click awesome pictures. Thanks a lot for clicking the awesome pictures of mine that you have clicked.Hope to have more such photo sessions in future :P
Gunratna-For being the awesome course coordinator. Thanks a lot for always being very sweet and handling insane batch like ours.
Leena Mam-I love your style, the way you talk ,the way you walk, the way you speak, its just impeccable.
Whenever i see you ,i make a mental note of dress sense and style.I wish i could be like you some time.
Ujjawala Mam-You are the coolest HOD I ever had.You made the otherwise boring subject of radio journalism very interesting by your sense of humor and teaching style.
Ninad and Preetam -.You added spice to otherwise boring class by your stupid jokes.Sometimes i even laughed at your jokes.
Khushboo-Thanks for all the amazing words you have showered on me.I liked your like status and hence included you in my like list ;)
Harish-Thanks for always, always helping me in my need. You are undoubtedly the most energetic person of the class
Thanks a lot Swati,Nayan,Mahura, Sneha P,Tejashree  for being the amazing  persons that you are. Thanks a lot to each and every person in the class. Its been the best class i have had so far.
Thanks a lot to Tambat sir,Gonsalvies sir and all other faculty for patiently checking the shit that we write in exams and for patiently answering our each and every query.
DMM 2010-2011 ROCKS!

kanpur meets London

Once upon a time there lived a girl-rebellious(she says so!),confused(we-the audience feels so!)in Kanpur who meets a nerdy NRI from the land of fish and chips-London.She loathes him, calls him the famous cuss word from UP-Chutiya and in the end falls in love with him.Thats precisely the story of ‘Tanu weds Manu’.

Tanu weds Manu revolves around a guy who comes to India for bride-hunting.Falls in love with the drunken and passed off chick-kangana,the moment he sees her.But here is a little twist to this tale,Tanu tripathi already has a beau and wants Madhavan to break the alliance so that she can elope and marry her beau.Madhvan like an obedient puppy dog agrees and even convinces her parents to marry her off to the guy of her choice.
But for self-proclaimed-rebellion Tanu, it is all too boring a set up.She now falls for Mahavan adding to audience’s confusion.

Though the movie at times looks unconnected and puzzling but it sure does have its entertaining moments.Deepak Dobriyal of Omkara fame as Madhavan’s best friend has done excellent job and should be given full marks for contributing to humor quotient of the film.Aizaz Khan and Tanu’s Bihari friend have done commendable acting in their brief roles.

This actress, sure does brings a sense of nostalgia to someone who has ever lived in UP or Bihar.Being from UP ,I was expecting more UPiyat from the film which it fails to bring out.Jimmy Shergil as Kangana’s  beau has impersonated quintessential UP ka bhaiya, believingly well.

On fashion quotient, movie scores obnoxiously low.Tanu’s two braids and bling bling salwar kurta look in few scenes makes her look quite amusing. The only dress which managed to catch my fancy was her white patiala with deep back.

Although movie misses a spice here and there in giving it a full UP tadka but it sure did popularise UP and its culture. Now my Manipuri roommate knows what is Kanpur and Lucknow and she even asked me the distance between the two.All thanks to the director,I say.
