Sometimes a simple conversation can throw you off balance. It can either turn your world topsy turvy or take you on a ride on a time machine. Sometimes it can come along at the wrong time and make things just worse. Or they can pop up at the right moment and pull you out of the dumps. It can put you in a totally different frame of mind. Take you back to those magical days of youth when u saw rainbows in shards of glass or to mundane days of reality when you view everything through jaded jaundiced eyes.

sometimes we have to cling to our old-is-gold memories…..sometimes memories are the only rationalisation….but one unasked smile from my sons can pooh pooh those memories [also]

whoopee-thanx for that swashbuckler of a commentary-in the crevices of mind i wished to jog the blog on things like lifestyle diseases viz hypertension and diabetes-link hypertension with recession and you-know-what-…any which way…what are those boxes doing in your bog….box office or what???

Thanks for the comments, Alakananda. You are right in that Rand is either venerated to fault or hated as hell. That I think has mainly to do with the infectious ferocity in her writing. Well - you can’t take it easy with a radical writer. Still, I don’t think she is that proverbial *love-or-hate-but-you-cant-ignore* type- my point is one can very much shrug her off as her ‘Atlas’ does; it’s not worth to endure a fountainhead of nonsensical doctrine just to pamper one’s ego :-)

    No, I don’t have two sisters - I’m a lone child.

    JUST SALSA,JUST JALSA

  19. Madhavan PK

Hmmm. Is it not time to let bygones be just that dear friend. Forgive and forget all the rubbing that Chennai inflicted on thy noble self. Dont step foot on this dirty land again but do forgive the place and its people. Ha ha that was in half jest and half earnestness. It pains me to think that someone can hate chennai and that you a sensitive person can bear a grudge for so long.

Yes, in The Kite Runner, Hosseini lost his momentum somewhere, especially after the boy and his father left Kabul for Pakistan and onward to San Francisco. From then,, onwards, it read more like the script of Bollywood potboiler - forgive me, if i am being insensitive. The connections that he sought to make in the second part of the book didnt gel well with the gravity of the first part. nonetheless, The Kite Runner was rivetting read…

The poem was sublime. Kudos you have kept your mind young, the poem reflects thoughts that spring out of a young person who feels strongly about injustices and the environs and who wants to save the world. They say as you grow older, you are happy if you can save yourself. I dont think you have blogged a poem on rediff and hence the rather hasty bet. Also you were a lit student and me thought these were your early ramblings.
