Stupid!

Musharraf calls Bush on 11th Sept:

Musharraf: Mr President, I would like to express my condolences to you.

It is a real tragedy. So many people, such great building… I would

like to ensure that we had nothing in connection with that…

Bush: What buildings? What people??

Musharraf: Oh, and what time is it in America now?

Bush: It’s Eight in the morning.

Musharraf: Oops…Will call back in an hour!

Salvage India

Young guns, young mind with a zest to do something different can bring revolutionary change in the system. Believe they only can correct the plunging system. They understand the world better than anybody else. They are the smarter generation, they have the knowledge. They are competitive and have the attitude. Taking as an example in the current industry world - now India is witnessing a vast change in its industrial sector which is driven by a mammoth young generation. They are competitive to give the better performance and which ultimately increases the productivity. Organizations are now seeing massive expansions, buy-outs across the globe. They have realized their latent potential. The productivity of companies has increased many folds, many local brands have evolved. Now the bandwidth of dream vs reality of starting a business has been decreased. We see the change in our daily life. The living standard of the so called middle class has changed drastically and so as lower class substantially.

Zeroing on the IT industry, one can see the great changes happened in this decade. The shifting of job to India is not because of the large and cheap man power, but because of the large and talented man power. If not agree, then why not other countries ready to work with lesser wages are not graabing the oppertunity? India is at the driving end of IT vehicle and will continue to do so. This have been happened because of its vast talented young pool, who have challenging, hardworking attitude. The industrial system have been renovated replacing the lousy process and approach. Even in the banking space this magnificent change is seen. The private banks’ approach is different, they are patient and cunning attracting customers and that shows a remarkable difference in their balance sheet. This all possible having youth mass in the system.

But this is not enough for India to sustain its growth. The baby elephant has grown up and it needs more food. To sustain the growth curve India needs energy. May or may not realize, but in future energy will be the crucial thing to survive. Either common man or even an educated man can not say particularly which energy do India needs. Keeping all the factors into account the politburo and the policy makers can only decide what suits India the most. Sadly again we are divided on views just like religion, cast and creed. The national interest is not coming into the picture, the greedy politicos look for their own benefit. It is sad that PM and his party could not come to a conclusion after a long one year of discussion. If something is hindering to a party why that is not stated in the media. Even the opposition is playing a safe win-win approach having no rigid view. And the scientists’ group not standing together, They are negative biased and that too after an year of prolonged discussion. Where were they? As published the PM has put his reputation at stake, but is PM’s reputation bigger than the national interest? The politicians and policy makers are all divided, there is chaos over 123 agreement. The above is just one example, certainly there are other things which are in a chaotic condition still.

We need a revolutionary change in this system. Just like the industry sector we need young mind at the bureaucratic level. Who can bring changes, hasten the process and should look for national interest rather than personal benefit or reputation. Few young have joined politics like Jyotirditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot and Rahul Gandhi. They have got a chance, as if inherited from their predecessor. It happens only in India. They might have the zeal, power and enthusiasm but that seems lack luster amidst the big age-old masters. But expect things will change when more and more young brats will join them. They will bring the long waited revolution paving towards a better and brighter future. All the blinking eyes are waiting to embrace that moment with a smile marching towards glory.

Thank Note

Dear Friends,

Many thanks for your comments, compliments and suggestion for the

blog “Papa Don’t Preach“. As said earlier, I had written that in a generic

sense not based on my story. My intention was to make all (including

me) realize if and when we are making mistakes.

I am really glad to see your inputs, thanking you all again.

Please keep visiting my blog.

Banta has a cross-eyed bull that keeps bumping into things. He calls up to vet to try to remedy the problem.

The vet says, “I think the best thing is to stick a pipe up his ass and blow real hard and the bulls’ eyes will straighten out.”

The vet - a 70 year old man - inserts the pipe and blows. The bulls’
eyes begin to straighten, but the vet soon looses his breath and the
bulls’ eyes are crossed again. The vet gives it another try, but looses
his breath again.

The vet looks at Banta and says, “You look like a strong man, why don’t you give it a try.”

Banta agrees. He then takes the pipe out of the bulls’ ass, turns it around, and sticks it back in. He then begins to blow.

“Shit!!!” says the vet. “What in the hell did you do that for?”

Banta replies, “You don’t think I am going to put my mouth on the same end of the pipe that you had your on.”

John went to his friend`s house unannounced, and he wanted to spend thenight. His friend was sorry that he could not offer him a whole room,so he said, “You can sleep on the floor in the living room, or you can
sleep in the room with Baby.”
John said that he would prefer the floor.

The next morning he went to the bathroom, and there he met a gorgeous young blonde.

“Hi,” he said, “who are you?”

“I`m Baby, and who are you?”

“I`m stupid,” he said.

Papa Dont Preach!

I recall those days of my childhood, I was a very jubilant, jolly kid. I am always happy doing something, hate to sit idle. That doing something might be in a good taste or in a bad taste for someone, that does not matter to me. But I like doing whatever my heart was saying. If I wish to play, I do play. If I wish to clean my home I used to do, if my room gets dirty on course of my interest of doing some job I never mind. At that point of time I was thinking I am right at those great decisions of doing something, and provoking others of doing the same whatever I was doing. I realized myself as a great leader, motivator at that point of time. Be it mudslinging, be it fishing in muddy water, be it killing frogs and lizards or flying kites under the sun keeping my books aside. Audaciously I do all those stuffs, very happy, enjoying all those moments with my gully friends. You know why, because my Papa was with me. He was the best Papa, he was my best friend, he likes me whatever into I am. Sometimes he inculcate his thinking and advising me, that is okay. He is so strong, master of the trades. He was helping me doing my homework. You know he could answer anything, be it the toughest question from my books or any news or any history topic or regarding any bus, train timing… really he was genius!

I hate nobody can stop the time! I grew up, and in my high-school days I found the world is not prettier always. You have to deal with many more subjects, pressure is too much. After school have to go for tuition, can not fly kites leaving my books aside. I think this is the most difficult time of anyone’s life, I see college is better, my elder brother never wakes up at morning. Also I have to find the suitable time 4:00 am to study in the calm environment even in winter!. Papa only woke me up at that time, do not understand why he does not like me having a good sleep. He has changed a bit, doesn’t encourage me with other things except study. Even in studies he is not able to help me in all respect. How come he does not know ‘Derivative’, ‘Integration’? But I admire he knows biology well. Anyway! he might have forgotten calculus. But I think he is not loving me that much. He took so many days to buy a cycle for me. What was the need of buying the sofa-set, I do not think that is required. Even at times he is very rude and strict. He never allows me to go to a movie theatre, alas! I am not able to enjoy like Bibhu, Hari and Roshan. They do bunk school and go for a movie. But Papa gives all my tuition fee, never ask me a question on that. Anyway if he is not best, he is the better Papa.

We are the kids of this generation in short gen-X. We are more intelligent as compared to the peers. We know computers. We can take decision on our own, we know what is good or bad very well. But why these elders underestimate and advice us? Anyway I should listen to my heart only. But certainly I could have got a seat in a better college if I would have scored few marks more. I could have done better in the history and geography. Anyway in 12th I will do better. Once the election campaign is over I will start afresh.

But things did not go right, I scored average in 12th and then burnt the mid-night oil for the entrance examination. Lastly I knew if I am not getting a seat in engineering college, the future is dark. Alas! the competition is very tough, I scored a rank but I have to study in a remote engineering college and I can not go to the best engineering college, I need a hefty amount for that. I know Papa can not provide this amount. How can I ask him this big amount, as I see he is having only 2 good pairs of pant-shirt to go to office. But all of my friends are joining good engineering college. I am really unlucky, my Papa does not have money. He is a good Papa, but certainly my future is dark. If he would have good money I could have joined some best engineering college. Certainly I will earn a lot, and will not let my son deprived of such things.

I passed my engineering, got a job luckily even though I was not an academia in university. Thanks to the IT. But I am one of the talented guys in my college. Every one is happy, my Papa is proud of me. With the time he has become old and retired from the job. I am busy with my work, pressure is too much in IT job but money is good. My Papa and Mama should understand this, they are worried about my office timing, they are worried to see me working hard, they are worried to see me thriving at McDonalds burger instead of home made foods. Worried about the parties I do attend. Because they think I may get into drinks and which is bad. But we have to do that, how can I say NO when my project manger is offering me the drink. How can I deny to the clients. Now they are worried at everything. They are really from a different generation can not understand all this. What I will say about my Papa.

The above is a general scenario not relating to anyone, I think almost all guys go through these stages. This is a common thing happening in most, few ignore it and few can not realize of the mistakes we are doing. There is no new thing, but still I felt to put it on the blog. How come once the Papa who was the hero for us changes with time or do we changed ourselves? we all know the answer.

A Date With Moon

What an achievement it is for the human race! Amid 55% of failure result, this time they have stolen the show by landing on the red planet Mars. And now they have taken the first scoop of soil for the testing of water availability and the potential habitability. Knowing all this I ponder on how Mars would be looking like, whether there is really any living creature present, whether any human race there which is more advanced than us or which is less advance than us. Whether we can ever visit any other planet in future so and so. Kudos to the NASA and the United States for such a magnificent achievement.

Browsing the past in 1969 the lunar module landed moon with Neil Armstrong. And since then the eagerness has increased many folds. Now India, China and Japan are the front runners in the moon landing race. India’s unmanned mission Chandrayaan 1 was declared on 2003 and to be launched in 2008 by ISRO. The Chandrayaan 1 will carry the remote sensing X-ray, gamma ray spectrometers which will send us data, and from that they will make high resolution map of moon surface. In addition to that the Chandrayaan 1 will also carry few instruments from other nations for their study. This would be a big success for India and will bolster its determination to carry the launch pad to the red planet.

China is on its track, they have already launched their moon craft (Chang’e 1) claiming to be Asia’s first moon craft launched successfully. And now they are planning for a manned mission to be sent by 2017. Japan’s moon mission SELENE has also been orbiting close to moon and it will revolve for a year to send all the vital data. Now it is India’s turn, as a matter of fact it is more a glory than a mission for a developing nation where majority of people do hard to get the basic needs. And we keep our fingers crossed to see when India could have a date with moon?

Is India Shining? - II

Resuming with the train experience - last Feb I boarded a train and on the way we found train became late by an hour, but all people reacted like there is no fuss! it will make it up ultimately. There is the need of attitude, when we will realize that if train is late then all people who are travelling got stuck for an hour and that is a big loss. It can never happen in developed countries, because people there are very cautious about time. In Japan the train delay is escalated, they do several meetings/analysis to find the cause and again they have to pay fine of 100,000 Yen/Min (Rs 40,000). We are lacking of such system. We have never thought of such system because we think few minutes delay is not a big deal.

Another example is the roads in our small cities. From my own experience I am telling you they never built concrete road. In my town every couple of years they build road, but that is washed away. Once I asked one contractor, why people do not build proper roads? and jokingly he replied “If they build good road then there would be no contract next year!”. And later I felt at some point his joke is true. And this is the scenario where we loose more money on repairing again and again.

Tell me at how many places we have dustbins? Government builds very good complexes but they forget to put dustbins at right places. Even if it is placed, it is hardly cleaned regularly some are not cleaned ever. From the cost perspective they avoid to put many more dustbins, but indirectly we are paying more. First it pollutes the environment, and lastly people pay the price at hospitals. Even if government places dustbins people will forget to use it, even if people use it, the responsible person will forget to clean it. This is happening because every one cheats in his own work. We never mind if someone comes late to office, we often consider a 30 minutes delay is normal.

I am not saying India is not improving, but our pace is too slow, we lack attitude. Irrespective of the investments by government we people can do lot more to accelerate the progress. I see there are many spaces of improvement and that could be done without any Rs investment, that can be done with the mind-set, attitude of people. In my view change in attitude is very much required along with the infrastructure and other things for a better life. Though it is known to everyone, still I felt I need to blog it. Comments are welcome.

Thank You,

Subhransu

Is India Shining? - I

Is India Shining?

Till now I do not know if India really shining? Every one says, the world is saying and Indian media propagated well. They say industry is booming, GDP is so n so, IT has taken a leap ahead, the vibrant young mass is looking forward for a better future, is engaging in Nuclear Energy treaty, US provides more number of Visas to Indian worker, Bollywood have made a mark, the Tata’s corus, Jaguar deal, Orissa along with Jharkhand each have signed some odd 50 MOUs… etc

Still, I do not understand whether India really shining?

If India is shining then what about the suicide of farmers, what about the rape, murders that are happening every couple of seconds. What we do have? We do not have a good airport, no basic health facility for the people, few are not getting proper meal, lack of good education system, and more over many are not educated. Importantly we do not have basic amenities in cities, no cleanliness, pollution has surpassed the warning level, no infrastructure, no good transportation, do not have any facility to alert or rescue people from catastrophe like earthquake, cyclone or Tsunami. Then from what angle we are shining? Just because our indigenous companies have acquired some global cos, just because the IT grads earning well, just because few middle class people have started earning?

But if we look from all the perspective, it is quiet a gloomy scenario. And to do improvement in all the areas we need a huge amount of money, but I feel the most important among all is the attitude of people where I did not find any change. Fact is we do not want improvement in our life or we are satisfied with this slow pace; we are more cool and satisfied kind of guys. Just for example we spit everywhere, and we do not bother of that as well. Mumbai was rated as one of the rude city but we ignored. One village in Orissa is coming under world’s top hazardous place, we ignored. We vain boast that ours is a cultured society, we are more cultured. True. Even the world is saying India had a good culture, strong cultural foundation… but they also say Indians are dirty and uncivilized.

Just for another example - We boast of Indian railways the longest railway track in the world, even I guess many people might be thinking we have done well in this aspect at least. But service quality wise we are not anywhere in the top100… we do not bother for few minutes delay, we do not bother if compartment are not cleaned, toilets are not cleaned, if there is no water. What I understand our government do not need a big amount to wash and clean the buggies everyday, we people do not have to work so hard to keep the compartment clean. Government can take up the project to build basic amenities at the required places in the cities. So I would say India is not shining, if one compares to advanced countries we are lagging them by 100 years or more which is fact. But certainly I would like to know your comment

This guy sticks his head into a barber shop and asks, “How long before I can get a haircut?”

The barber looks around the shop and says, “About 2 hours.”

The guy leaves.

A few days later the same guy sticks his head in the door and asks, “How long before I can get a haircut?”

The barber looks around at shop full of customers and says, “About 2 hours.”

The guy leaves.

A week later the same guy sticks his head in the shop and asks, “How long before I can get a haircut?”

The barber looks around the shop and says, “About an hour and a half.”

The guy leaves.

The barber looks over at a friend in the shop and says,
“Hey, Bill, follow that guy and see where he goes.”

In a little while, Bill comes back into the shop laughing hysterically.
The barber asks,”Bill, where did he go when he left here?”

Bill looked up and said,

To your house.
