Till now I do not know if India really shining? Every one says, the world is saying and Indian media propagated well. They say industry is booming, GDP is so n so, IT has taken a leap ahead, the vibrant young mass is looking forward for a better future, is engaging in Nuclear Energy treaty, US provides more number of Visas to Indian worker, Bollywood have made a mark, the Tata’s corus, Jaguar deal, Orissa along with Jharkhand each have signed some odd 50 MOUs… etc
Still, I do not understand whether India really shining?
If India is shining then what about the suicide of farmers, what about the rape, murders that are happening every couple of seconds. What we do have? We do not have a good airport, no basic health facility for the people, few are not getting proper meal, lack of good education system, and more over many are not educated. Importantly we do not have basic amenities in cities, no cleanliness, pollution has surpassed the warning level, no infrastructure, no good transportation, do not have any facility to alert or rescue people from catastrophe like earthquake, cyclone or Tsunami. Then from what angle we are shining? Just because our indigenous companies have acquired some global cos, just because the IT grads earning well, just because few middle class people have started earning?
But if we look from all the perspective, it is quiet a gloomy scenario. And to do improvement in all the areas we need a huge amount of money, but I feel the most important among all is the attitude of people where I did not find any change. Fact is we do not want improvement in our life or we are satisfied with this slow pace; we are more cool and satisfied kind of guys. Just for example we spit everywhere, and we do not bother of that as well. Mumbai was rated as one of the rude city but we ignored. One village in Orissa is coming under world’s top hazardous place, we ignored. We vain boast that ours is a cultured society, we are more cultured. True. Even the world is saying India had a good culture, strong cultural foundation… but they also say Indians are dirty and uncivilized.
Just for another example - We boast of Indian railways the longest railway track in the world, even I guess many people might be thinking we have done well in this aspect at least. But service quality wise we are not anywhere in the top100… we do not bother for few minutes delay, we do not bother if compartment are not cleaned, toilets are not cleaned, if there is no water. What I understand our government do not need a big amount to wash and clean the buggies everyday, we people do not have to work so hard to keep the compartment clean. Government can take up the project to build basic amenities at the required places in the cities. So I would say India is not shining, if one compares to advanced countries we are lagging them by 100 years or more which is fact. But certainly I would like to know your comment
(to be continued )
umm shall i tell you something? stop complaining about the government. think of what you can do. thats how it is done. and by the way, do you cast your vote!
another suggestion, clean up your english as many people read your blog.
I, agree with you. What has to be given more importance, our government is neglecting it. They dont pay heed to what is more important, but rather waste time, energy, money etc on all the bull shit. A
India is not signing at all…..still 40 crore people cannot afford meals for 2 time in a day….(people below poverty line)…..this is just propoganda that India is shining…India’’s real GDP is 5% only ……3% is just dhokha…..you will realise in the years to come…..
Its so easy to find faults. Like Kennedy told : “Dont ask what your country did for you but can yuo say what you did for your country. ”
You can say this because you have been in tokyo where things are much better and organized.
But remember still foriengners die to be in india (that should tell you a lot )
Think about it buddy
Sandy
take the positives.slash the negatives.india will shile forever.the physce of india was always shining.!!!!!
India loses proper hold ”coz most of the people are more fanatic about the beautiful and fascinating religeous rites etc than humanity towards the human race as a whole and also sympathy for the deprived people.
COTD…..
there are many indians who care for themselves but few care for the country.basic amenities are bad but they exist tomorrow they are deemed to grow better.in short india is not shining but its not in complete darkness either..
its a very observant post ,i agree that it is to be debated,India shining was actually a political gimmick made to hypnotize people into voting.if we buy any chance are in accordance with the statement then you are a nice person living in a dream world, and if you disagree you are practical but also a negative minded person, confusing ..na..if you say India is not such a bad country some will get only one meal for a day but not all, trains are always in delay thats bad but at least they are not falling apart, earning capacity is low but some are earning good and there is opportunities gallore for young people graduating,Indians are considered dirty true but we are also considered as one of the best brains in the world.shortly no country is above mistakes, here its bit more but tomorrow is different who knows what may happen for i have to live here, i can only love what i know…
Dear Frend,
What you have written/post is known fact & i belive many of us know it. You are a onther person from galaxis of people (so called high think tank) who are just mentioning problems!! Please change your perspective & write differently which give some insight to find solution of this problem….I belive many of us can write/post this kind of blog….
Over country needs implementer not thinker only…….
I like swati’’s reply which is more towards the practicle approach..
In our holy books says that if you want to change anything in world , first change your self……
So one must start change his/her self first
….well being of our neighbours or sending ”em tea snacks if they ”ve just moved in our neighbourhood….unlike US of A….why do same people follow the rules strictly in other countries who do not bother to litter around here….it is not fair to compare our country with others….make ur city and country good irrespective of how other countries are…..Growth is there…..but Yes, people need to have the feel of belongingness in order to maintain the law and order…..and they need to have ethical sense……Are we doing our part ?
Hi Subhransu, I guess You need to live in India to feel the growth of our country. Yes we do have endless problems, corruption, lack of ethical sense among people etc. but before we start comparing our country with other we should know where we are coming from. We have had huge political and historical disturbances until recent past. Even if we ve been very advanced in education centuries ago; today we ve a huge population to manage and we need to have a more practical approach….I will give u an example….In Pune central mall, on every turning of staircase they ”ve pasted the big posters of God and Godesses and see even today walls are strikingly clean…..no paan stains!…..second come to Delhi and travel in Metro, the stations, trains are sparkingly clean…the reason no toilets on the station and strict rules for not carrying eatables….we might be called rude for not saying a formal thank you or holding a door for a lady….but we would be the first ones to know the ….contd.
Hi ! India is a large country, we can see so many differences on social, religious and political grounds. some of these are created by us and others are due to our social structure. nationality among the people is declining day by day. politicians have become corrupt. who cares for the nation ? onething more that equal development is not possible in any capitalist economy. nice post.
Also in the Netherlands we hear about the attendance of India ( and China)
But we also hear about the child labour, the failure and poorness of people. etc.
There are a lot of problems and we lag the advanced countries by around 30-40 years (which is equivalent to 100 in the pre-internet era, but now information travels so fast that even an year delay is considerable). However, on a relative scale India is shining. I don”t know your age. But I think anybody between 31-36 years age bracket witnessed how salaries shifted from 4000 to 40000 in one year, how the choices of TVs, computers, soft drinks flooded the markets, and how now we have multiple TV channels to choose from, and a lot more. Before that we had Doordarshan, Gold spot, and mostly clerical posts (except if you are from IITs or if your dad already happened to be rich), or else you had to leave the country. We do have huge problems. But nothing will go away like a magic wand. It has been just 10 years since India really embraced a bit of capitalism. It will take time to filter down. It could be faster, if we can get rid of the religious problems.
very true, there is much room for improvement…. in Japan– there was a committee constituted to determine why the bullet train was late by 10 seconds…but our railways are sometimes late for hours & nothing is done to improve this.we must continually set higher & higher standards & keep achieving them.
India is shining? …. we can”t answer it in a definite terms. But it is true that It has changed a lot after the independence and still changing day by day in a slower pace. On some field positively and on some …negatively. You can find here extremes of everything. Riches to rags, honest to corrupts, criminals to helpers etc. In my opinion… It is the diminishing of moral and social values day by day and “sab chalta hai” attitude of the people which is harming our society and growth more. Also, our society and peoples are becoming more money oriented nowadays in almost every matters leaving humanity behind. We can save the humanity if we can try to change our attitude towards each other.
Shub…Your quality concerns are good… we really lacking it badly in almost everywhere.
All is there .. if not, we are trying to acquire it … but they are not in good state once it is there and needs improvements. We feel happy to introduce new things but we fail to maintain it.
india is shinnig ,past thosands years ,but ghar ki murgi dal barabar,
Very thoughtful post!! ..see Shub, there r many things responsible for tht.. Mugals n British possessions in the Indian sub continent, d way v forcefully ruled by all those…our economical ,biological and social factors..all r rspnsble ,they say we r shining but our mind ,our soul still dnt feel free ..still we feel a kind of insecurity and tht makes us behave like this…survival instinct u can say.. but u r very right v cant mk excuses..
