ONAM FESTIVAL
Happy onam festival to all i-land friends!!!
The most famous festival is Onam in kerala.A flower carpet called “Pookolam” is laid in front of every house, to welcome the advent of the vanquished king and earthern mounds representing Mahabali and Vishnu, are placed in the dung plastered courtyards.
Feast is celebrated with ’sadya’ and sweet payasam,served in plantain leaves during lunch.It also means new clothes for the whole family.
We can see decorated elephants,fire works and kathakali dance on sight seeing.Great boat races will be held.They enjoy for 10 days.
It is for all people,of all class and screed.Hindus,Muslims,Christians and wealthy and poor all celebrate with equal fervours. Thus the unity is coexisted with diversity esp., during festivals.People come together to celebrate life’s unlimited joys.
