Guide for filing RTIs about Builders & Redevelopers to Municipal Corporation

Dear fellow RTI activists,

Quite often, our RTI applications become ineffective because we don’t know the name and nature of many documents in the files of the Municipal Corporation, and especially the department that controls building permissions. We don’t know what exactly to ask for.

Well, this will make your job easier:

1)    LIST OF DOCUMENTS TO REQUEST UNDER RTI from Municipal Corpn’s Building Proposal Dept: http://tinyurl.com/Builder-docs-with-MCGM

2)    EXPLANATION OF ESSENTIAL TERMS like FSI, TDR etc: http://tinyurl.com/What-is-FSI-TDR-etc

These are extracted from a book titled ‘Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai & Ward Administration’, authored by a former Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, David Antony Pinto. Co-authored by public administration expert Marina Pinto, it lucidly explains city governance. Published by Konark in 2006, the information is up to date. Thank you, activist Navin Pandya, for going out of your way to lend us this excellent book!

Warm Regards,
Krish
