IP, I have replied to your comment on my post ‘Raj Thackeray: Media’s story and the truth’. You may find it a bit harsh, but it is not. I hope you take it in the ‘right’ spirit. Keep writing good stuff and let us know. Re. VR

IP, I was thinking of endorsing your views on Lissome’s post on education, so visited your blog to gain access to your GB. Thats when I came across the Raj T saga on your blog. You have spent a lot of time and effort in writing on Raj T, and then answering questions of your ‘readers’. That is fine. The thing is we will never agree on this. One can not convince the other person, something that he doesn’t want to be convinced about. So the debate on this is pointless.
Re. VR
PS: You have put a lot of images on your blog. You it takes a lot of time to load if someone clicks on the ‘Blogs’ tab. This may put off your ‘readers’.

Reservation is not a dirty word. It is the stupidity of reserving seats for higher learning lwhen candidates have been half baked and therefore the waste thereof that is criminal. At the primary level it can be an excellent leveller. One of the things our rich brats must learn is the lesson of humility by developing a social consceience. What esle do you and I mean by education? This farce of providing visas to the US on taxpayers sweat to those who are already eating the cream? I dont see why there should be any revolution in the kindergarten? This is an opportunity for the teaching community and the media to educate the masses on the value of an egalitarian society. Or are u suggesting like the political vampires we too espouse the idea of keeping the poor in a deprived and unenlightened state so that they can grow into our vote banks, our labour and the dregs whose only hope is for a square meal? The poor man must get it free till he grows rich enough to be disqualified

Apathy when applied to situations self created and nurtured is appalling. You will agree that what happened to the monk was dastardly. He may be fat but he will by no means be smiling. Apathy s an invitation to life in death, a fate worse than death. Our apathy has another dimension. When scaled on a bigger time span the creatures inhabiting one end of the time frame are not affected by the end event..hence the indifference. Had we all lived for a 500 year life span we would have seen a different take on burning problems… like environment.. now its like hum nahi to phir kisko chinta… thing. Even if we had a window in heaven/hell to peep and see the consequences of our actions we would felt more responsibility and less apathy. So its not see no evil feel no evil.. its do evil but dont have to feel the evil in this life.. death our friend will take care we dont. And what you dont witness of the future you dont really relate to… Good one Indi. enjoyed this soul searching wid u

Indi: what a story!! but it doesnt wash pal. Survival at any cost is a human instinct..rather an animal instinct.. however apathy is the forerunner to death not life.. watch Animal Planet and notice how prey that is caught by the predator stop struggling and resign to death…that is an aspect of apathy! The monk story is a reiteration of the human sandwich stories of mountaineers and marooned sailors and soldiers..who eat the thrid man and then we have the last man standing.. such is the instict to live… The human need of pleasure even in death is the flip side of this morbid tale. illustrated as a man hanging by a thread from a crag as he free falls off a mountain… hanging there precariously looking into the jaws of death he spots a stream of mountain honey from a beehive… and strains to reach it…. so we all seek pleasure.. the other one that comes to mind is experimental rats who when stimulated sexually choose that to food… those are life laws…basic instinct.

Leave this old lady alone. She was a high school teacher and 70+ now, has lots of free time to eat up all the debates that you would do to her. She loves to suck the blood out of her friends, and at the same time keeps them believing that she is being generous! Worst kind of manipulator. Am warning you, though I know my warnings would do the opposite effect and will attract you towards her. So wish you all the best. She has skeletons in her closet. Ask her old friends with conscience and self respect who went away hurt. And don’t ask those who are charmed by her words.

What is past is past. I too had a lot of hopes in Rajiv Gandhi and his team… but sadly, it’s over.
But I see a lot of good in the present team too. Say what you will about Manmohan Singh, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, P Chidambaram and Sonia Gandhi, I see them as a more than adequate replacement for Rajiv and his team. I see them as low on political noises, and high on nation-management.
It isn’t about Congress versus BJP, or anyone else. It’s about the upturn in history that we find ourselves in. There is a lot of positive energy flowing around. Let us join our energies in the flow!

I think we can make a difference by steadfastly remaining POSITIVE, Patriot. Let us learn to recognise what is good in our country and countrymen, and build on that.
The other way — focussing on the flaws and foibles in those around us, to the exclusion of what is good — is counterproductive because it ain’t conducive to our own continued mental and spiritual health. In the long run, I believe that taking on the role of Demolition Man or Crime Fighter doesn’t have the intended effect; it only gets us embroiled in conflicts and muddies our souls.
Thank you for your detailed reply, Patriot. I look forward to exchanging views with you… and mebbe acting together with you to make a difference.
Warm Regards,
Ghost

Browsed through many of your articles this morning, Patriot. A few things leap out at me, which I would like to state by way of feedback:
It’s plain to see that reacting to current happenings (largely as reported in the media) is pretty high on your list of priorities.
While you call yourself a patriot, your view is that TODAY’S India and Indians suck. You are comparing it with the India and indians of YESTERYEARS — Freedom Fighters etc. — and saying that things have gone steeply downhill, and continue doing so.
Now from someone who proclaims love for his motherland, first and foremost, that is a bit like saying, “My mother was a graceful beauty back in the 1950s, but I HATE the way she now walks, the way she wears her saree, the way she deals with various issues…” (That’s an illustration… nothing specific here.)
So what is it that you LOVE about your motherland as she is today, apart from an idealised view of her? Tell us please.
Warm Regards,
Ghost
