Hrithik machaye Dhoom! Happy Feet rocks! Take a bow, 007!

I was in Singapore recently. It's a vibrant city with lots to see and lots to do. But that's a different blog. While I was at it, I made sure I'll catch some movies. The theatres were playing some really interesting films like Colic and Little Red Flowers. Unfortunately my companions were more inclined to watch Casino Royale.

Let me admit, like most, I too had my reservations about Daniel Craig stepping into 007's shiny shoes.

Boy, was I glad to be proved wrong? He's no Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan. Wonderfully enough, he's Daniel Craig and he's very good being Bond. His festering intensity, boyish impatience and humoring persona is killer stuff. I loved how Casino Royale tells how Bond became Bond without losing its style, cheek or cheesiness.

Next, I saw Happy Feet. I had been following the film for nearly a year. And I happened to be in Singapore the same week as it released. So taking advantage of the situation, I booked tickets like it were some Sentosa attraction. Happy Feet is sweetness. It's about the penguin way of life. And a lot of energetic singing and dancing. At the same time it's got layers to it, which speak of racism, autocracy and conservatism. Except for the climax, which felt abrupt and convenient, I felt Happy Feet was a rocking animation. I even picked a Mumble (the name of the lead protagonist voiced by Elijah Wood) plush from ToysRus for keepsake. :D

Back home, I realized Dhoom 2 was out and every thing man, woman and child was raving about a certain Mr Hrithik Roshan. I was curious and the only way to find out was watch the film.

So now I know what the fuss is all about. Okay, decently put, Hrithik is an e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y attractive guy. I mean the rare kind that can carry off even a lousy film like this on those perfect shoulders. His level of energy can only be surpassed by a computer generated character or something. Dhoom 2 is otherwise a very bad film.

I mean what's funny about Uday Chopra's broken English? Or Bipasha Basu's guns to bikini transition? And why does Aishwarya Rai look like dream and talk like a duck? But the funniest of them all is Abhishek Bachchan. Dhoom 2 is like a record of how Bachchan Jr created the Umrao Jaan look. He's given the most horrible clothes, miserable one-liners and worthless footage.

But Hrithik, Hrithik you are the man! And we love watching you. Even his muscles have more expression than some of the actors running in this business. Hee! ;-)

Well folks, it seems only srk fans dont enjoy Hrithik’’s success. There is always an excuse to pull him down, father’’s film, etc.. srk also had yash chopra almost as his father and K Jo his brother(?)for so many years, that is where almost all his success came from-other than that only main hoon na has been a little successful. Paheli, don, swades were all flops..So srk cant guarantee success. Where as Hrithik made mediocre movies great just because of his presence- acting, looks, dancing, stunts, everything…No wonder even though Hrithik will head nomination lists, Krrish and Dhoom 2 may not get many nominations even..Hrithik was a part of really good movies like lakshya which did not do too well. Anyone who wants to learn what acting (natural) is all about needs to see this movie. Hrithik is GOD in that movie..Just some wrong movies to please people and blind faith led to him being almost written off.. However he has always done a good job in all his movies. He is KING.

D2 is Hrithik, Hrithik and only Hrithik. It is a blockbuster just because of Hrithik. He is the new baadshah.

  3. bharath says

Hrithik is the new box office king. D2 was great.

Hi Gr..I thought SRK fans were gay neways nevamind..

  5. akshat says

    Hi Gr,

Why feeling bad. U r so good in judging gays. R u gay.LOL
In my whole life I have never seen any Indian actor who looks so good on big screen.
U can go to theater just to watch him.
He is made for big screen all others are for TV screen.
    Go on Hrithik.
    aur bakion ke liye:
    Khisyani billiyan khamba nouche

  6. Gr Have says

Have u and all those who like Hrithik, ever considered that u guys r gay?? At least i know from all his dances and clothes on the screen that hrithik is gay!!!

nd u wont praise hrithik 2 the skies if u remember his kaho na pyar hai experience. the media media went crazy singing his praises but with his subsequent flops he fell flat on his face. it took a koi mil gaya to resurrect his career. so remeber success is not permanent. troughs follow crests nd vice versa

  8. A K says

@ Rahul and rest - ..Hritik is da best..AB hasnt even achieved 1/5th of wat Hritik already has…AB is just about good or I should say decent…..Hritik makes spineless films look good..the last guy in Bollywood who was able to do dat was Amitabh Bachan himself..so dats the point

  9. Rahul Daraad says

Daniel craig is the best Bond ever…n its pity why AB’’s baby is doing films which arent justifying his talents at all………

Hrithik is definately good but his films are spineless…..Hollywood copies..

Yes D:2 is Hrithik all the way. The plot is senseless and no novelty. Even the picturisation was not up to the mark. The only saving grace of the movie was HR. Every one is lapping up his performance. That is why it has become the biggest hit of this year.

  11. suraj kohli says

and u know what… now nobody will ask ash “which is ur last hit?”. it’’s dhoom 2 and its a super duper hit. she’’s now free from that “her last hit was devdas so many yrs back” statement.

  12. suraj kohli says

    anyways once a film is a hit , the self-proclaimed critics fail….

  13. suraj kohli says

well… i disagree. i liked dhoom 2. it’’s what the makers had promised. it may not be high on logic but who cares when there’’s non stop masala entertainment. and what’’s your problem with with ash. she’’s superb. “she talks like a duck”?? eh? well that also requires talent ;). do you think u would just go on saying anything and people will agree. this is worst than nitpicking. u were so overawed by hrithik that u forgot everyone else. ash was playing a girl who thinks no end of herself but is a duffer. i didnt find anything wrong with that. did u want her to act like bipasha basu in jism or something, eh??

Yes, you are right. I am from singapore and watched the movie yesterday. For the first time, i saw malay and chinese girls howl and scream with ectasy watching Hrithik on screen. It felt like watching a rock show. He had the charm of a Bond Villain. Otherwise, Abhi is sulky, Ash dazed and Uday foolish. Forgetting the unbelievable story line…action sequences too are a big goof up. I felt like kicking the script writer down that steep cliff.

  15. hrithikfan says

yes, hrithik machaye Dhoom. he rocks

  16. Shweta Krishnan says

i agree with your last line. so true

  17. Anandi says
