Joyride

Time for an eighties groovy number - Roxette sounds super cool even now! Enjoy!

I hit the road out of nowhere

I had to jump in my car

And be a rider in a love game

Following the stars

Don’t need no book of wisdom

I get no money talk at all

She has a train going downtown

She’s got a club on the moon

And she’s telling all her secrets

In a wonderful balloon

Oh she’s the heart of the funfair

She’s got me whistling her private tune

And it all begins where it ends

And she’s all mine, my magic friend

She says: Hello, you fool, I love you

C’mon join the joyride, join the joyride

She’s a flower, I can paint her

She’s a child of the sun

We’re a part of this together

Could never turn around and run

Don’t need no fortune teller

To know where my lucky love belongs, oh no

Cos it all begins when it ends

And we’re all magic friends

She says: Hello, you fool, I love you

C’mon join the joyride, be a joyrider (Roxette)

I take you on a skyride

A feeling like you're spellbound

The sunshine is a lady

Who rocks you like a baby

She says: Hello, you fool, I love you

C’mon join the joyride, be a joyrider

Raindrops keep fallin on my head…

boomp3.com

Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin’ seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin’ on my head, they keep fallin’

So I just did me some talkin’ to the sun
And I said I didn’t like the way he got things done
Sleepin’ on the job
Those raindrops are fallin’ on my head, they keep fallin’
But there’s one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won’t defeat me
It won’t be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head
But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turnin’ red
Cryin’s not for me
‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complainin’
Because I’m free
Nothin’s worryin’ me

It won’t be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head
But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turnin’ red
Cryin’s not for me
‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complainin’
Because I’m free
Nothin’s worryin’ me

Sung by BJ Thomas this famous song is featured in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid a cult western movie. Thomas was getting over laryngitis when he recorded this. It gave the song a raspy quality that the producers of the movie liked and went on to win the Oscar in 1970. Songwriter Bacharach also won for Best Score. The song clip features Paul Newman aka Butch Cassidy having fun with Etta Place(Katherine Ross) who is actually Sundance Kid's (Robert Redford) girlfriend.

Use the audio player if you have slow connects :)

Baby you can drive my car…

This Valentine’s day, here’s something for all the non-believers and for the fun people. According to McCartney, “‘Drive my car’ was an old blues euphemism for sex” The song was intended to be about a difficult girl who is into materialistic things, but ended up being a quirky love song. Enjoy!

Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said baby, can’t you see
I wanna be famous, a star on the screen
But you can do something in between

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

I told that girl that my prospects were good
And she said baby, it’s understood
Working for peanuts is all very fine
But I can show you a better time

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

I told that girl I can start right away
When she said listen babe I got something to say
I got no car and it’s breaking my heart
But I found a driver and that’s a start

Baby you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Baby you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah

Originally sung by the Beatles in 1965 and is written by John and Paul. Somehow could not catch hold of a Fab Four version of this song on Youtube.

Stand by me!

Ben E King recorded ’Stand by me’ in 1960 inspired by a gospel number. Later it was used in the Levi ad in 1987 and even by Muhammed Ali. This clip features both the original song and parts of the coming-of-age movie “Stand by me” starring *River Phoenix(the boy with the guitar), the older brother of Joaquin Phoenix of Galdiator fame! River died of a drug overdose at age 23 just when his career was zooming!

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by mel

So darlin’, darlin’, stand by me, oh stand by me
oh stand, stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry, no I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin’, darlin’, stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me

Darlin’, darlin’, stand by me-e, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Whenever you’re in trouble just stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

* River Phoenix was a vegan from the age of 7 and campaigned for PETA and won their humanitarian of the year award in 1990. He also supported various environmental charities and bought up 800 acres of endangered rainforest in Costa Rica. Phoenix also denounced the use of all animal by-products and refused to wear leather or fur in any of his films or television work throughout his career. His brother Joaquin follows this Phoenix family tradition of boycotting all animal products in his film work.

Happy New Year

ABBA sings this number from their Super Trouper album and each new year it comes back with a bang! A happy 2008 to all of you from me! :)

No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It’s the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now’s the time for us to say…

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don’t we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he’ll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he’s astray
Keeps on going anyway…

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don’t we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It’s the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we’ll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of eighty-nine…

Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don’t we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Ay ay ay… ay ay mi amor

Antonio Banderas sings the famous Mariachi song from the movie Desperado! Need I say more? ;) Smoking hot AB and Salma Hayek and the music it takes you to Latin land straight away! Note: Translation on the right of each line! Antonio croons with the Los Lobos band of La bamba fame!

Soy un hombre muy honrado -I'm an honest man
Que me gusta lo major  That likes the best
A mujeres no me faltan, - I'm not lacking women
Ni al dinero, ni el amor- nor money nor love

Sigue andando en mi caballo   Riding on my horse
Por la sierra yo me voy  -Through the mountains I go.
Las estrellas y la luna The stars and the moon
Ellas me dicen donde voy tell me where to go.

Ay, ay, ay, ay  Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Ay, ay mi amor  Ay, ay, my love.
Ay mi morena, Ay, my dark-skinned woman
De mi Corazon Of my heart.

Me gusta tocar guitarra  I like to play guitar,
Me gusta cantar el sol  I like to sing in the sun.
Mariachi me acompana Mariachis accompany me
Quando canto my cancion     When I sing my song.

Me gustan tomar mis copas   I like to drink
Aguardiente es lo major  Brandy is the best.
Tanbien la tequilla blanca  Also white tequila
Con su sal le da sabor with salt for flavor

Ay, ay, ay, ay   Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Ay, ay mi amor  Ay, ay, my love.
Ay mi morena,  Ay, my dark-skinned woman
De mi Corazon  Of my heart

Me gusta tocar guitarra  I like to play guitar,
Me gusta cantar el sol  I like to sing in the sun.
Mariachi me acompana Mariachis accompany me
Quando canto my cancion When I sing my song.

Me gustan tomar mis copas   I like to drink
Aguardiente es lo major   Brandy is the best.
Tanbien la tequilla blanca    Also white tequila
Con su sal le da sabor  with salt for flavor

Ay, ay, ay, ay Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Ay, ay mi amor Ay, ay, my love.
Ay mi morena, Ay, my dark-skinned woman
De mi Corazon Of my heart

Gimme gimme gimme a man…

Time to do the Disco moves to ABBA’s biggest disco hit ever that tells the story of a lonely young woman who longs for romance.

Half past twelve

And I’m watching the late show in my flat all alone

How I hate to spend the evening on my own

Autumn winds

Blowing outside my window as I look around the room

And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom

There’s not a soul out there

No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Won’t somebody help me chase the shadows away

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Movie stars

Find the end of the rainbow, with a fortune to win

It’s so different from the world I’m living in

Tired of T.V.

I open the window and I gaze into the night

But there’s nothing there to see, no one in sight

There’s not a soul out there

No one to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Won’t somebody help me chase the shadows away

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Won’t somebody help me chase the shadows away

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight

Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Where do I begin…

“What can you say about a twenty-five year old girl who died? That she was beautiful and brilliant. That she loved Mozart and Bach. The Beatles. And me.”

Where do I begin
To tell the story of how great a love can be;
The sweet love story that is older than the sea,
The simple truth about

The love she brings to me?
Where do I start?

With her first hello,
She gave new meaning to this empty world of mine,
There’ll never be another love, another time,
She came into my life and made the living fine,
She fills my heart,

She fills my heart with very special things,
With angels’ songs, with wild imaginings,
She fills my soul with so much love,
That anywhere I go I’m never lonely;
With her along, who could be lonely?
I reach for her hand — it’s always there…

How long does it last?
Can love be measured by the hours in a day?
I have no answers now but this much I can say:
I know I’ll need her till the stars all burn away,
And she’ll be there.

Love Story starred Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal in the film version of Eric Segal’s novel. The tear-jerker romance of a mousy girl and a preppie captured the imagination of the seventies! Andy Williams recorded this song with the movie’s instrumental theme that still screams LOVE even today!

Top of the world!

An all-time favourite of one and all! And words to die for! Sweet! Sweet is what the lyrics are!

Such a feeling’s coming over me

There is wonder in ‘most everything I see

Not a cloud in the sky

got the sun in my eyes

And I won’t be suprised if it’s a dream

Everything I want the world to be

Is now coming true especially for me

And the reason is clear

It’s because you are here

You’re the nearest thing to heaven that I’ve seen

I’m on the top of the world, looking down on creation

And the only explanation I can find

Is the love that I’ve found

Ever since you’ve been around:

You’re love’s put me at the top of the world

Something in the wind has learned my name

And it’s telling me that things are not the same

In the leaves on the trees

And the touch of the breeze

There’s a pleasing sense of happiness for me

There is only one wish on my mind

When this day is through I hope that I will find

That tomorrow will be

Just the same for you and me

All I need will be mine if you are here

I’m on the top of the world, looking down on creation

And the only explanation I can find

Is the love that I’ve found

Ever since you’ve been around:

You’re love’s put me at the top of the world

I’m on the top of the world, looking down on creation

And the only explanation I can find

Is the love that I’ve found

Ever since you’ve been around:

You’re love’s put me at the top of the world

RIP Karen  Carpenter - What a loss to the music world she remains!
