"Aashiq Maaraa Padaa . Ve Zaalim . Teri Naram Nigaahki Adaaka ."
This is an example of Old form of Ghazal, & particularly, this Ghazal contains a Masculine ex-pression . It is a song of a Neglected Lover . Thus, carries the Pain of the protagonist, who is moaning musically!
As Music does have a voice, which is beyond gender ., I had tried to explore this Masculine Feeling of the Bandish through this rendering which is a five year old rendition
Like everything else, my mind & music also have undergone change, may be it was a different Prachi who had sung this Yet, putting it here today at this moment, while looking back, somewhat neutrally!! :O))
The rendition is preceeded by Ghalib's few all time great ashaar..
"hazaaroN KHwahishaiN ‘eisee,
ke har KHwahish pe dam nikle
bohot nikle mere armaaN
lekin fir bhee kam nikle
nikalna KHuld se aadam ka
sunte aayaiN haiN lekin
bohot be_aabru hokar
tere kooche se ham nikle
mohabbat meiN naheeN hai farq
jeene aur marne kaa
usee ko dekh kar jeete haiN
jis kaafir pe dam nikle
KHuda ke waaste
parda na kaabe se uThaa zaalim
kaheeN ‘eisa na ho
yaaN bhee wohee kaafir sanam nikle"
- Ghalib

Dear Prachi, I feel, it is the way we look at music, it u are in a mood, u may find mucis to have age also, some mucis are for children, so appeal to elders, yet other are for the older ones.

in reply to this i just have this to say …
koi dikha ke roe ..

HAS TO BE PERFECT WHEN IT IS SUNG BY YOU,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,IS I LAND KA HEERA TUM HO SHAYAD,,
The best part of your passion is that you get to read and sing such beautiful and meaningful verse. This one from Ghalib is divine. (Rahul)
lovely rendition dear prachi… i would not have understood it fully without your foreword… thanks a ton for that ….
Wonderful! I think I have mentioned again, that your Urdu diction is perffect.. which is a rare thing (Even great singers like Hemant Kumar never got their Hindi diction correct). Aur Ghalib miyaan ke bare me kya kahoon… kahte hain ke Ghalib ka hai andaaz-e-bayaan aur! How true!!!
this is an all time favourite ghazal…so full of emotions !! and thanks a ton for posting it here…..and yes a perfect DICTION also….full marks to you…lovely lady !!!! :))))
Prachi - I closed my eyes and just listened - meaning of the words I had no idea -but voice behind it - beautiful - if this be music let me have more of it. The sheer beauty of the voice is amazing. Take care :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
One of the most poignant ghazals by Ghalib, each couplet heart wrenching, particularly this one, “mohabbat meiN naheeN hai farq jeene aur marne kaa, usee ko dekh kar jeete haiN jis kaafir pe dam nikle.” Sighhh!!! Have also been listening to your Dil Nadan tujhe hua kya hain by Ghalib. “Humko unse wafa ki hain umeed, jo nahin jaante wafa kya hain” Lovely, simply lovely.
Absolute beauty….you have a terrific voice quality , Prachi…
Thanks for being a friend.
You have got a great island. Why don”t you let people become your friends?
this song has a profound sadness to it…
It is always a ”pleasant experience” to listen to you. I have saved quite a few on my lap and desktop and do listen to them. May Maa Sarsawti bless you always and you keep on bestowing us with lovely rendition.
I too am a fan of Mirza Ghalib, as a matter of fact, have graduated from the collage where Ghalib once used to teach Persian.
My favorite couplet from this ghazal is…
mohabbat meiN naheeN hai farq
jeene aur marne kaa
usee ko dekh kar jeete haiN
jis kaafir pe dam nikle.
Regards,
anil.
O” that was once again byootiful. You have such a wonderful control over your voice. Sur ki pakad kitni khoobsurat hai. And that was 5 years back!! Loves and hugs.:)) Here’’s another one from Ghalib..
Ibtedaye-ishq hai, rota hai kya;
Aage-aage dekhiye, hota hai kya.
What a wonderful redition indeed …
