I’ve long thought that New Year’s Eve is a funny old night. When I was young [much younger :-)], my expectations were so high that I always thought it was going to be the best night of the year, if not my entire life. It didn’t take me many New Year celebrations to get over that.
This year I’m had planned on celebrating it differently. It would be spent with family and close friends, and hopefully will be really quiet. We’ll cook something simple and, because it’s a combination of people who drink and people who don’t, these are the kind of drinks we might make.
For the kids there’s something hot and chocolately. For me, because I don’t drink alcohol, there’s pomegranate and Clementine juice, and for the entourage there were bloody marys and prosecco cocktails.
I do think New Year is something worth celebrating. It’s a good moment to review what’s happened in the year gone by and collect your thoughts and hopes for the next one. I have felt really blessed in 2007 - it’s been a truly amazing year. I hope that 2008, things will be slightly saner and quieter and that I can just spend as much time as I possibly can in the kitchen. Last year was frantic; the next one I hope will be about consolidating and simply trying to become a better person.
But what happened was just the opposite… meaning . Spent it with cousins and friends [theirs not mine as mine were doing their own thing] I hate cooking though ppl say I am a good cook ME in the kitchen? MOI??? nahhhh… not if I can help it…. can’t cook as good as my mother… thats one bait I ain’t biting! well.. we had take-out, NO KIDS were allowed . Definitely nothing chocolately or even remotely non-'holic drinks were served ' esp to me and the worst part of it all… FG - I didn’t find my Frog Prince to kiss
But 2007 was a turning point in my life and career got rid of excess emotional baggage ' finally and to tops it all… I have been trying to converse with my brain since I surfaced sometime yesterday.
Here’s to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold. ' Wish you all a very Happy & Prosperous 2008
