I would like to say a few things on your text… “Facts say that not only the top brass defense personnel were under prepared but they were practically stunned, and after coming out of the initial state of shock, it seems that they resorted to some mindless action, without actually being aware of the exact situation and got killed in the process.”
Alas… it was not the Defense people who were shocked… they have something called SOP’s Standard Operating Procedures, and battle drills that commence at base and battle field stages. I guess you meant the police top brass… and there too, the first three to fall were executive team leaders, ill prepared to begin any action in the absence of information, which in any case was their own organization’s duty to furnish. Just charging at the unknown caused their unfortunate deaths- the three ATS officers died in vain, without achieving anything except creating TV newsperson meal tickets, read fodder!
Today, it is increasingly clear that the feedback to the terrorists on counteroffensives by the police and the commandos was made extremely easy because of diehard stupidity of covering the action live!
There is a proficiently incompetent network of inane Intelligence setups that do not work to share anything and fail in interpretation of trends and anticipatory back up- they neither have the technical know-how nor the ability to use their massive resources- all due to lapses in training, ego clashes and political interference. Besides, the political affiliation of police staffers at every level leaves policing of antinational and antisocial (now almost synonymous) elements impossible- the police concentrate on arbitrary selection of “suspects”, and then blaming every crime on a limited gallery of rogues!
The problem with the police is their arrogance, inability in believing the common man is aggrieved. As also, the media has been exemplary in hyping and falling flat on its face in its hype. Look at the Arushi case, the Nithari case every where it has pretended to be wiser than the investigators, who in the end were wrong and have landed up in dead ends, perfectly sewed up in sewers dug by them and aided by the press!

I don’t think I have seen “Ruka hua faisla”. But yes, I think Pankaj Kapoor is a grossly under-rated actor. Whether it is comedy (serials like office office and the hindi version of” mind your language”…I’m really getting old , sometimes I just grow blank trying to remember names) or serious roles as in Maqbool, his acting is so very natural. My cousin Vinny, is one of the films my son downloaded for me . I must have seen it atl least five times . Enjoyed it every time . Our films are so poor in the comedy genre although , I must say that in malayalam there were quite a few that became hits. Many of them have been remade in hindi (hera pheri etc)
Hi Dhaivat. Sorry I didn’t get back to you after your last message in my GB. I am happy to have bben born in this land, which has always been open to the world and I am quite hopeful that the misconceptions that have crept in between communities will be erased. I hope too that groups which are fanning a distorted type of nationalism, by harking back to past incursions on this land by muslim invaders and seeking to redress the same by linking all muslims of India today to those aggressions, will cease to hold their sway , for that kind of nationalism has the same potential for harbouring hatred for the “others” as in the case of the “jehadis”. We have to learn to have love in our hearts, without which religion, loyalties, relationships…koyi kaam ka nahi, chahe hindu ho ya musalman.
“But it is righteousness to beleive in Allah and the last day and the angels and the book and the messengers ; to spend of your substance out of love for him for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask and for the ransom of slaves,to be steadfast in prayer and give zakat, to fulfill the contracts which ye have made and to be firm and patient in pain or suffering and adversity and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.
There is no message in the koran to go on an offensive war on “non-believers”. The fight is only to be in defence against those who persecute the believers and cause hindrance to them from leading a righteous way of life. The righteous way of life as per some of of the verses in this chapter of the Koran is to believe that there is one universal source of truth , to not conceal the truth, to be steadfast in prayer, to treat with kindness your parents and kindred and orphans and those in need; to speak fair to the people and give Zakat . Verse 2.177 says “It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces towards the East or West (this is with reference to Qibla, the direction in which muslims face when offering prayers.Earlier it used to be towards a place of worship in Jerusalem ,but was later towards Ka-abah in Mecca. This injunction is interpreted as a warning against deadening formalism in religion).
While reading , substitute the word “Allah” with any appellation you would want to name that Supreme state of Truth and you wont have any problem understanding the import of the messages.

My take Dhaivat, is that, anyone who follows a righteous way of life(righteous in its widest sense meaning that which promotes goodwill and love amongst all of humanity) is a believer and anyone who sows the seeds of disharmony is a kafir. Other labels is of no importance. I also believe that all the scriptures, whether it is the Vedas, Zendavasta, Bible or Koran speak of one universal truth and gives guidance towards a way of life that will bring us closer to understanding what that truth is. I believe that there are stages in our spiritual evolution and the messages by different saints and avatars and prophets, have to be seen with relevance to the history and state of the community in which they were born, whether Hinduism or islam or any other religion. Ultimately, one has to look deep inside ourselves and that journey, which will lead us to understanding that “”Oneness “ is an individual one .
Osama Bin Laden and his tribe should in fact pay attention to Surah 8 of this chapter . “Of the people there are some who say “We believe in Allah and the last day; but they do not really believe. Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe. But they only deceive themselves and realize it not. In their hearts is a disease and Allah has increased their disease and grievous is their chastisement they incur because they had lied to themselves. When it is said to them “Make not mischief on the earth” , they say, “We are only ones that put things right”. Of a surety they are the ones who make mischief but they realize it not. When it is said to them, believe as the others believe , they say “Shall we believe as the fools believe”..Nay of a surety they are the fools , but they do not know.”
