sci fi as mainstream literature

Sci fi is generally considered a non mainstream literary genre throughout the world. Now its usually presented under the label,’genre sf’.This trend is even more detrimental in getting this genre being established as mainstream literature. In India the state of science fiction as a mainstrem literature[ml] is even more disappointing as traditional literatti hardly gives any credit or importance to this kind of literary Indian offshoot. While the reasons of this kind of apathy of Indian literatteurs to this emerging literary genre may be traced in the ignorance and unawareness of this genre amongst them at large,Indian sf writers to some extent are also responsible for this sorry state of affairs as their style and form do not conform to the standards of acepted literary norms.Unless Indian sf joins hands with ml it is not going to enjoy the bliss/boon of a wider readership and affection which it really deserves.Let us initiate efforts to achieve this goal by writing more simple and people oriented sci fi.

But don”t you think that Indian sf has a taste and style of it’’s own, which has the potential to distinguish it in the future (rather than conform to the accepted styles prevalent elsewhere)?
