Do a river remember all the drop of the water flows through it?
Does a tree remember all the leaves that fall?
Can a mountain remember all the stones fallen from its top?
Can the sun remember all the rays gone out of him?
Can you my dear friend remember me from out of your many friends? Joy

Please check your facts, it was not MGR who removed hand pulled rickshaws. During Karunanidhi\’s rule it was abolished. MGR was not in power when he acted in that movie. Further in that Rickshawkaran movie he was not using hand pulling rickshaw. Shivai acted as a human pulling rickshawalla in Babu. Further MGR was given Bhrath award for such a stupidest movie like Rickshakwaran.

Good blog Mr.Nadar ! I can relate to some of your musings - as my native town is close by as well (Kayalpatnam). You can check Kayalpatnam.com. There is a link in Kayalpatnam.com to one of your articles on Thulir School at Rediff.com.

This is the description of lazy lifestyle in a small village in the far-southern Tamilnadu state of India, written in the hackneyed style of R.K.Narain, but with vivacity of his style missing.

Is a village like Panickanadarkudiyuruppu in Tuticorin District of Tamilnadu so idyllic as is presented here?

Not so. The village has its seamy side as well, as all Indian villages have.

I did not live in this village, but in a nearby one called Udangudi.

Generally, the life is peaceful there as long as you believe and behave actually, as goes the nursery rhyme, “All things great and small, the Lord God made us all”

That is, you accept there are differences in the vilage society, and everyone should be content in his pre-ordained station.

The blog writer belongs to the upper crest of the village society. He reads English newspapers over a cup of steaming coffee!

He is aware, but pretends to close his eyes.

    Thus, the description is lopsided!

hi. i loved reading your article. it made me homesick for tamil nadu, kerala and karnataka, though. i remember all the kollams in front of the doors. i used to watch women design them in the mornings on special days. i especially loved reading in your article about how the people sang bhajans to ganesha and how ganesha visited all the homes in the evening. so fine! really so fine! i could “hear” them! i am a song writer living part of the time in kalamazoo, michigan, and part of the time in bangalore. will return to my second home, india, later this year to record some more songs, play music with my friends, and get happy/high on ganesha. thanks again for the article. it was fun mixed with nostalgia to read.

There is some difference writing with an idea and writing with a pen, because you have to! Get yourself another job.

I love the writing style. Small sentences can carry great meaning. Keep up the good work. You take me to your village, even though I am reading this in a busy cafe in Melbourne, Aus.

What I would give to share a filter coffee with you!
