What nirvana means

Most people have heard of nirvana. It has become
equated with a sort of eastern version of heaven.
Actually, nirvana simplymeans cessation.
It is the cessation of passion, aggression , ego
and ignorance.the cessation of the struggle to prove our
existence to the world, to survive. We don’t have to struggle
to survive after all. We have already survived. We survive now,
the struggle was just an extra complication that we added to our
lives because we had lost our confidence in the way things are.
We no longer need to manipulate things as they are into things as
we would like them to be.

Always Maintain a Joyful Mind

August 04, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Leadership

Pema Chodron has the following commentary in the book Always Maintain a Joyful Mind on awakening compassion and fearlessness:
In the morning when you wake up, you reflect on the day ahead and aspire to use it to keep a wide-open heart and mind. At the end of the day, before going to sleep, you think over what you have done. If you fulfilled your aspiration, even once, rejoice in that. If you went against your aspiration, rejoice that you are able to see what you did and are no longer living in ignorance. This way you will be inspired to go forward with increasing clarity, confidence, and compassion in the days that follow.

Can you dissolve the barriers between organizations, leadership, and employees to create employee engagement for all by opening your heart?

Linux for Children

June 30, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Blogs

Check following link , it has nice list Linux distros for Children

Child-oriented Linux distros tend to have a simplified interface with large, "chunky", colorful icons and a specialized set of programs designed with kids in mind. Some of the better-known distributions aimed at children are give in following link

Why Linux for Children :-

You might thinking , why linux …… well story goes like this
I want to gift laptop to my Niece , when checked market, Laptop is too costly to buy ( If compare to US, and unlukly non of my Friends coming to India ). So i try to cut cost of  laptop by asking vendor , we don’t want Window and Word that will cut cost  approx 7K of laptop.I was worried that kid should not loose interest due to Linux GUI (
Grahic user Interface ), but these alternate OS (Linux) look good and
attrative. I got alternate OS Linux for Chlidren and openoffice.org for word processor. Also these OS work well as compared to Window on OLD PC , with less memory.

These Linux OS GUI much better then window 3.0 , 3.1, 95 etc ( when we start working on windows :-) )
( Not sure howmany of you saw those old version of window 3.0, 3.1, 95 ,ME etc )

Reactors let the world happen to the them.

Creators make the world happen.

Meditation or Prayer or both

May 27, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Blogs

On linkedin group “Positive Thinkers” One Dsicussion posted

Can meditation make you more positive?

Most of the people I meet suggest meditation and prayers when one feels
gloomy. Is it the meditation that helps or the prayers? or is it the a
combination of both? Whats your take on this?

Here is my reply sharing with all

Well , it is very complex question will both help !!! because both cross each other domain. Meditation is very focus activity , you can calm down and will be very focused. But when blend it with “loving-kindness” ( = Prayer ) it become more effective.

Some time back , I went for Vipassana (= Insight) mediation in India. That time they told importance of “loving-kindness” ( = Prayer ) with mediation. I am not good in explaining thing but will try to put those explanation

By mediation one can get focus , that focus can be used for -ve as well , but when mediation include with “loving-kindness” ( = Prayer ) , it give you +ve direction.

After Vipassana / Insight mediation all practice “loving-kindness” i.e pray for goodness for all being

So both are important meditation and prayer. Both compliment each other

Some other good replies are

1)

It also depends what you meditate on. Research psychologist Barbara
Fredrickson and her team have studied the effects of “loving-kindness”
meditation, and have found that those who were taught and practiced
meditation experienced a significant increase in positive emotions -
the more time spent meditating, the more positive emotions, which were
associated with having more personal resources, more life satisfaction
and less depression.

So, yes, choosing to focus and meditate of the positive, in this case
loving-kindness and gratitude, can have a remarkable impact on our
lives - emotions, personal resources and mental health. Good stuff.

2)

agree with Jeffrey, being positive is a choice. If it takes
meditation to make the choice, then meditation helps. We control what
is in our brain. That is one of the few things that we can control.
Being happy being positive is a choice. I’ve never known anyone that
had such a life to always produce happiness. There is always crap. We
choose how to react and how to think. Its like the Jack’s jar of dirt.
hehehehe

3)

Meditation will not make your more positive, thinking more
positively will make you more positive. Meditation will calm you down
enough to allow you to make that decision whether or not you choose the
be positive or not.

4)

Meditation allows us to choose how we want to think. To meditate on
a thought or a prayer allows us to ingrain it in our subconscious mind.
We know that our subconscious projects and portrays our true beliefs
and intentions. So, it’s all good! Also, to meditate with a clear mind
and no particular thought allows us to free up our energy so that our
true beliefs and intentions will travel further and be more effective.

5)

Interesting question Sanjay. I always feel refreshed and energised
after I meditate. Praying is awesome so combining the Two can’t hurt. I
think Dr. Wayne Dyer once said ‘ there is no way to happiness,
happiness is the way’

Vote Nama

April 25, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Blogs

Story1

My maid said that she will not come tomorrow for work. When asked why ?

She said tomorrow is voting and going to Village for exercise her vote.

I thought in mind , Wow , she earn with hard working , but spending to go village just to exercise her vote. She is good citizen of India .

Wait . Don't create . Too much impression in your mind.

I appreciate  her , you spending from your pocket and going village to exercise vote that is sign of good citizen. She replied and said , "Surpanch" of village given 200/- INR for per vote.

That was shocking ..

I asked her again to whom you going to vote. She said to Congress Party.

Thought flush is my mind (with  sarcastic smile on face) , Late Rajiv Gandhi ( One of my fav. Leader and PM of  Indian ) always want a good system , so money shlould reach to lower level ' How his party man spoiled his idea .

( anyway money is reaching at lower level ;-) )

Story 2

I am living in this city for more then 5 Year .  Some EC  people ( or may be external agency ) came to my home and took photos for voter ID card long back. Now election came , but voting ID card never came. On web it is showing all family has voting card , but it never reached. Also tried 4 time in municipal office where they distributing card , but no luck.

Just wondering the energy level EC officer show to clip some politician , same energy  they should put to make sure voting ID card reach to people. But this Gov employee known to enjoy free salary on our Income Tax , with NO-accountability ( Some exception are there , who really work hard , so NO offense pls. ).

I wish , There should be law , if 80-90% voter ID card not reach to people at right time , they should remove from there Job immediately. Not sure , what this EC officer do rest of 5 years !!!!!!

Conclusion

Here is my 5 star on India crown

1)      You can buy people vote in 200 / - INR

2)      IAS Officer of India has NO accountability for there job/responsibility.

3)      Last year , world saw on TV that, In India one can buy MP for 1-5 Corer

4)      Person  / Family  can put in jail without any evidence or proof . There are few laws like  Minority , Dowry etc. There is  no check on misuse of these laws.

5)      No social security ( specially  for Sr. citizen )

We have all kind of stupidity and still have proud to be biggest democracy in the world.

I am really proud on my country system , law etc .

What about you ????

Going to tie the knot soon,..don’t vote Congress

April 04, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Blogs

This inserting news saw in HT - Delhi , well all have there own reason for not to vote xyz party

IF YOU are a husband or going to tie
the knot soon, do not vote for Congress,
comes the advice from Save Indian
Family Foundation. It is a group purportedly formed by husbands harassed
by 'pro-women laws', like those against
dowry and domestic violence.

The Foundation even plans to field
a candidate. Their slogan ? Justice for
Husbands.

The group accuses the Congress
party of creating a rift between husbands and wives to increase its vote
bank. "Congress plays vote bank politics by dividing husbands and wives.

In its regime, 1 lakh husbands were
harassed by wives," said Swarup
Sarkar, Secretary of the Foundation,
who claimed he got this data "through
RTI".

Sarkar and his foundation have
already kicked off a full-fledged campaign, sending SMSes, emails, distributing pamphlets and pasting posters
across the country to appeal to husbands to not vote for the party .

"Do you know if your wife demand
1000 rupees for her kitty party and you
give 800, it is a crime by you (sic) as per
law and who made such law?
Congress," reads one of their
pamphlets.

But the Foundation has just one fear
? according to its own research, 70 per
cent of the harassed men are associated with the party they are raising the
war cry against. "But I think it's out of
personal compulsion," said Sarkar.

The Foundation was set up on March
10, 2004 by the likes of Sarkar to give
moral and legal support to husbands
and their families who are allegedly
harassed by daughters-in-law.

The Foundation alleges the government has overlooked its demand for a
check on the misuse of dowry and
domestic violence laws. Sarkar also
claimed that over 56,000 suicide cases
involving married men were because
of harassment by wives.

So , Looks like Congress is anti Men  ;-)

Advice from Warren Buffett for 2009

February 15, 2009 By: Virag Virag Category: Blogs

Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older.

This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.

Hard work : All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Laziness : A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

Earnings : Never depend on a single source of income. (At least make your Investments get you second earning)

Spending : If you buy things you don’t need, you'll soon sell things you need.

Savings : Don't save what is left after spending; Spend what is left after saving.

Borrowings : The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.

Accounting : It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

Auditing : Beware of little expenses; A small leak can sink a large ship.

Risk-taking : Never test the depth of the river with both feet.

(Have an alternate plan ready )

Investment : Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

I'm certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I’m equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly regain their financial health.

Let us become wiser and lead a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life
