Indigo bolechey, phirey aasho … best advice I can think of. ILand is not a mutual admiration society … it allows us a forum to write … someone will read it and save it … who knows what might happen next? Kal kya hoga, kisko pataa …

Hello, VT, we two have a sort of mutual name-recognition, don’t we? We never quite managed to sit under a tree, leg on knee, and shoot the breeze, did we?

Haaoaa bataash bodley gechey? So what? Mon ki samajher tail dhorey, aamrao ki bodley giyechi?

Upanishad boley, jei aalo bataashey norey na, shei shtir-chitto. Just keep writing, as you will, you need no official permission.

    The Bodhi Tree of Poems
    Occasionally drops names
    Besides the usual hits
    Bird droppings, tidbits
    While I contemplate
    My life until date
    Has been eventful,
    But I remain unseen
    Lost in the quagmire
Jane Aiyyar has been my bane
    And I am insane
Ever since she quit to be
    Tarzan Nair’s
    Daughter
    And at the altar
    He laughed
As I was led to slaughter!

It is not for the fickle minded
    To know Jane Aiyyar
She has this craze for KB, also Aiyyar
That he cheats by dreaming poems
    She drops name
    Hints darkly, enquires
    Did I meet that one
    And her, and her
    You should see the fieyaar
    The blaze in her eyes
Is like an Aussie bush fire
    Oh Jane
    I have a headache
    Not tonight, I am dead,
    The sofa is Ok
    That is where I lay
    For thirty plus ‘ears
    And the poems
    Inside the blankets
    Bring to me the cheers

    Regards

Great to hear from you :)

Of course, it is not purely an Indian phenomenon :) But obviously whatever else we like, we are mostly interested in India. So we discuss it, primarily.

As for it being an young country, though I can relate to it. I am not sure we can use the excuse too long due to the information flow in the present world. A century back we had to learn our own lessons; now the world is our school and the data we are fed is tremendous. Just a thought :)

On your comment on Reviews and Rebirths -

I think the lack of comments on that post (and consequently on your “award”) has more to do with my lack of popularity, the desire of readers to side-step inconvenient incident mentioned in the post, and the fact that I was off a break resulting in less readers. Still, I guess that’s not so important.

There is nothing much to say on your other comments. Come up with something, if you want to be considered for next year’s award :))

Hey VT ..thanks for your comment. Now I know what Choki Dhani means. Would never have figured it out myself. Yes I did think of starting something quite similar in my own homestate some day when I retire but I shelved the problem no sooner than I thought of it cos I knew the Unions and the labour problems would never allow it to be run as efficiently. :) Anyways cest la vie here.

Having spent most of my life in Bombay, VT is still Victoria Terminus to me, aur dekho naa, I still haven’t switched to Mumbai.

Ok point taken :) So you have a sensitive heart hidden behind a sarcastic manner. :))))

  41. Sarath Chandra says:

    On the names -

No. I don’t think the reason is the alphabets. Both Hindi and Telugu have letters for Sa, Sha, and the sound in between. I personally just like the sound of Sarath than Sharath. Maybe we are lazier; surely Sha takes more effort than Sa. But the opposite is true for ending with th and d :))

Haunted house stories were always there around me, and for various reasons I never had to live my challenge of tackling it alone. Though I speak very boldly against these things, I think, I have a good chance of being scared if the situation is properly aligned; that’s why maybe I found a way to escape :))

    Hi VT,

Once you had said something like you wonder how much money/donations go into the social sector in India. I got to know today:

India has 1.2 million registered NGOs as of now.

The social sector raises 600 million USD every year (Rs 2700 Crore if we take Ex-rate as $1=Rs45)

So, they get 2700 crore every year. But the report says India has the potential of raising 10 Billion USD every year! (Ref: today’s Mint)

Am posting it here instead of mailing you, so that you get some surprises when you decide to log into iland :)

    Have nice time,
    Rahul
