Soldiers are as human as any civilian of the society we live in – said the Poet in one of his outpourings .So, we have Brigadier J.K.Narang a very senior Army –officer of the Nation who has witnessed the importance of human values amidst action on war-front many times.
Brigadier J.K.Narang from the Indian Army’s Border Roads Organization unveiled the third Collection – ‘A MASTER’S PIECE’ .He said that although he has not gone through all the Collections of the Poet ,his common sense and considered opinion was that unless there was substance and extra-ordinary material content in the works of Mr. Pamarty Venkata Ramana , society and people would not be so excited about his Poetry.
He complimented the statement of the poet that ‘often times, the military personnel were more civilized than the self-styled civilian population’ of a country’.
He said the Spirit of Patriotism,Disciplined thought and Mature outpourings certainly displayed fragrance of a world class School of Literature .

Divinity alone makes man a humanist seems to be one of the loud messages the Poet gives us through his writings .As such ,we have GIANI HEM SINGH JEE ,Head Granthi of the Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib to bless Humanity in the name of one of the greatest religions on Earth where the GURU’s role is held in high esteem for every human-being.
The Giani unveiled the First Book – ‘IN A BLINK ‘.He pointed out the necessity of having such Poetry which sought to awaken Humanity to the folly of disregarding Divinity in one’s daily lifestyle. Lauding the thread of thought woven by the Poet in his Poems, he emphasized the unifying bond of Humanity through Religion and said that purpose of a ‘Guru’ or Master must not be undermined in any manner by anybody. He also spoke of the bonding of different vernacular languages in thought and religious utterances and importance of the Poetry-works of Mr. Pamarty Venkata Ramana for unifying Mankind which professed differing religious schools .

...’I Hate Luv Storys’ - so screamed a hoarding as I drove past Malabar Hill in Mumbai that capital of film-crazy India…!!!
I was forced to read it a second and a third time as the bill-boards let me rush past on the drive from the airport to the rendezvous with a TV-interviewer in a studio on the 25th floor of a building facing the Arabian Sea.
I asked myself of the sadistic streak of mankind which made someone come out with such a hoary title for a family entertainer…Was it sheer madness or a real need to address the changed mind-sets of a new audience-grouping?
I knew for one that Love Stories often were tragic tales which either ended in an unhappy separation of lovers or a great tussle that drains out half the life-span out of the viewers as well as the protagonists .Rarely did the’fairy-tale conclusion of a ‘they lived happily ever after’ come about on screen.
True,I too hate love stories on screen because these never portrayed the reality of so much of hatred, malice and jealousies creeping around in the society ..Nor did these depict the wickedness of the beloved as also the lovers soon as the initial honeymooning-stage ends…
I hate luv stories since these never really succeeded in helping tide over the monumental resistance to love across borders, castes and social divide flourish.
All is not well on the luv-scenario.Frontal bodies who sell wares on Valentine’s Day whisper momentarily and the ebb and flow of the tide of love never really drowns humanity in any ocean of mercy, magnificence or humanism…the perennial resistance to unrequited love apart, there is no support to one-sided love or lop-sided and undeserving love either…
I hate luv stories since they do not reveal the purity of love, the power of true love and they certainly denigrate the haloed pedestal of love itself.
If there be a sweet girl who says she loves you but suddenly vanishes saying she cannot wed you though she loves you ; if there be a girl who professes to love you but also love the children’s father who is a tyrant ; if the young lady says she wants to elope with you and you refuse such a dare-devilry; if there be a older woman who wants to marry you as a soul-mate and professes platonic love to you ,would you not but make a movie out of the dumb charades titled so appealingly as this ?

It is no time to rejoice .Despite the ‘guilty be hanged to death’-verdict prounced today in a Mumbai court, the road of Justice is not a dead-end to criminals in our highly ‘open’-society.
It is not a matter of regret either that the sacrifice made by martyred policemen on 26/11 of 2008 has borne result in declaring to the outside world that the stem of anti-Indian sentiments is deeply rooted in conspiracies hatched, one after another , in the neighbouring land that once was a part of the umbilical-cord of Indian sub-continent .
It is not a mere coincidence either that the car-bomb planter of Times Square[New York] the other day was fleeing back to this very land from USA via the middle-eastern route.
It is a testimony of the times we live in that whereas the oldest democracy of the world had the administrative and intelligence to escort back the aeroplane in which the terrorist was fleeing the land of dreams, the largest democracy of the world offered all privileged facilities including that of an open trial to the captive-terrorist throwing open the fair process of democracy to one who was out to destabilize it .
It is time to ponder whether we remain a vulnerable third-world country who seems to be deluded by a very fragile constitutional establishment or do we require to assert that Nationalism has to be injected back into the administrative process in order to rub shoulders with truly advanced nation like the USA.
It is a shame that we had to suffer the ignominy of the mass media splashing the face of the terrorist across the nation as if he were a war-hero [and stay put as helpless sitting, lame ducks] but it certainly is a matter of pride that the frail walls of justice have not permitted a travesty of justice - the anti-national element ought to be blacked out of our minds and the fluttering National Flag of INDIA ought to be visible in all news reports covering this date and verdict .
Jai Hind.

Rama was the epitome of virtuosity in its complete sense and forms. No wonder he is not revered in this age and times .So musical were the chants of ‘Jai Sriram’ when a mere two-M.P.s party rose up magically to form governments at the centre.Almost magically, the number of elected parliamentarians rose up and accumulated. As mystically, their rank and file stopped uttering the cry of ‘Jai Sriram’ and their strength dwindled as mysteriously ,almost wiping out the very face of the said party from the national scenario.
What ails India?
Is it the society or the unsocial elements courting politics, business and every other sphere which has led to no more whispers nor wishes to establish a ‘Rama Rajya’ in the great land known as ‘BHARATA’ since times immemorial?
Rama Rajya is no utopian dream. It in fact was the ultimate form of existence of a democracy within a monarchy. The lone near resemblance if any of the golden scheme of such a king belonging to the subjects while being led to govern for the welfare of the people comprising the kingdom is Britain.India is a far cry from Ram Rajya. Why?
Since no man is a Rama in our land today .Not even yours truly was obedient to a wonderful father [I had spurned lucrative MNC offers to set up practice ,against the advice of a doting father who knew the toll a hectic life would take upon his son]whereas Rama did not bat an eyelid in obeying his father Dasaratha’s unexpected command to forsake the throne and go into exile in a jungle.
No man in our country today would drive his spouse away based on heresay of a lowly washerman’s scolding of his wife .Rama exhibited the quality of being a king first and an individual placed below the people’s voice.
Rama went in search of Rakshasas[demons] who were disrupting the yagnas[prayers and penance] of great rishis[sages and medicants] in the forest and vanquished them to enable the pious to offer prayers in peace and happiness. No man in our land [myself no exception]would consent to conscription or compulsory military service against terrorists in Kashmir region or even in our own cities of residence].
Rama was faithful to his wife,Sitadevi and went in search of her .No man in this country today can even think of roaming on foot across the length and breadth of this vast country .Partly because the twelve years of exile would be completed even in making the rounds of the dozen or so police-stations one would have to run around even to have the First Information Report lodged ,in such tragic circumstances.
Rama was like no man alive today .Therefore no man today [especially the ones who occupy the seats of power ]can be equated with Rama.
Mere mortals reign today .Rama was a human form who rose to the exalted position of a Lord incarnate of God Almighty through an exemplary life of tests of ethics, equality and even the strength of character .None dare even imagine measuring up to his exemplary and wonderful ways in a whole lifetime: not even Obama or Osama nor the Chinese Premier[who are the most powerful men alive on the planet today].
So,it is impossible to bring in a RAMA RAJYA in this the 21st century of our times on earth. It is especially impossible in India.
‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ is a slogan ,not a statement of Rama, the doer of action positive,in the overall good of humanity’s quest for peace, law, order, prosperity and dharma[justice].
‘Hey Ram’,said the Mahatma in his last breath.
‘Oh My God’ say the anglicized Indians .
One ought to say ‘JAI SRIRAMA’ at least today ,
the day of Sri Ramanavami.

Mass frenzy grips the nation. It does not mean a mass of people being in frenzy en masse .Nor does it merit frenzied mobs going berserk .
I mean the mass of frenzied mindsets who seem to both hate others as well as love themselves -all at once .Both the acts of humanity seem contradictory but being self-obsessed, there seems to be no contraindication of the vacuum which fills their mass called the brain itself.
Neither the legislators nor the business-folk;not the peasant nor a countryside farmer; not a casual laborer nor the self-employed, the ones who really seem to be the only employed are the ones who are termed ‘middle class’: these constitute the likes of all those who can neither stoop to the level of kowtowing to the rowdy across the street who is a self-styled leader who distributes pattas [titles of land]or one who would throw around wads of notes to pay the ‘black’-money component too of the exorbitant cost of lands. These are the mass who keep alive the notion of there being in existence a higher force of nature called GOD and the many who keep any religion alive .
Mass frenzy is the order of the day . Be it adorning the mainroads with huge statues or be it garlanding a not diminutive sized woman-leader with huge garlands of currency-notes repeatedly in full public view .Same would be the situation when the living house of the main opposition leader in a state was razed to the ground .Likewise is the situation when magical sounding phrases like IPL or SRK are bandied about to invent thousands of crores of rupees worth of a parallel economy .And an even greater number of idlers and sycophants across the nation.
Are we a frenzied nation .Or am I working up a frenzy about this mass of do-nothing-but-seem-gooders?
Whatever it is all much ado about nothing .Them all, I mean .Not the realists.

Act of God is a valid defence under the law of tortious liability. To the layman, this would mean that natural calamities such as an earthquake ,a tsunami or a cyclone preventing the due and timely or diligent carrying out of an obligation under a given contract would be regarded to be factors beyond the control of human actions .So, any default under such a scenario would not impose automatic liability on the defaulter for such a breach.
Act of State would certainly include within its ambit the action of a war breaking out between two countries.Of late, the social situation has been refined by acts of terrorism to include a finer differentiation between ’state-actors’ and ‘non-state actors’ in such a warfare directed at destabilization of another country, society or economy.
It must be in this backdrop that the seemingly hi-tech sounding CIVIL liability for nuclear damage Bill has to be understood. It is a law sought to be passed in consequence of the Nuclear Treaty signed by our country with the USA.
It is good that the said bill got derailed today in the Lok Sabha.
In its present form it lays a limit on the amount of compensation payable to the sufferers, affected parties [and often times, these would but be legal heirs of deceased victims in a nuclear accident]at a figure of Rs.300 crores[convert this in terms of U.S.Dollars and see the real sum total of upper limit pre-decided as being payable by the 'operator' of a nuclear plant in India.
It says says that the operator would not be liable for any nuclear damage if the incident was caused by 'grave national disaster of exceptional character, armed conflict or act or terrorism '.Imagine a scenario wherein negligence being attributed to the operator himself [without allegation or evidence of act of terror'].
It has incorporated provisions that would enable the government to either increase or decrease the amount of liability of any operator [it isa gateway to lengthy and cumbersome litigation since it is not specific when it could be hiked or lowered] .
Union Carbide Gas tragedy of Bhopal has been a real-time experience for this nation comprising of a largely gullible and often helpless majority because the bills are enacted by those few seated in the haloed floors of the august Parliament .Real expression of concern on such a vital issue cannot be staged through mass rallies by so-called protestors nor can it be ignored if INDIA IS TO SURVIVE IN THE WORLD COMITY OF NATIONS and reach the coverted membership of the U.N.Security Council.
Hence, all right thinking intellectuals and jurists of the country should brain storm with legislators and parliamentarians ,present and past in order to arrive at pragmatic and valid provisions in the proposed Special Law.
A reasoned Act of Reason must not be reprehensible to the good conscience of a peace loving overly populated society as ours .Hence,a serence and better sense should prevail .Parliament should not act in haste and let the country’s people repent at leisure. This is the the need of the hour.
