That is what everybody secretly called her.
Ria had been inconsolable but had put up a brave front when she came to know the truth. Roshan had been shocked at the unexpected results. What had they done to deserve this?To be childless for life, being denied the right to see your own progeny for no reason. It had shattered them initially but then life is not fair.
Roshan had taken it in his stride and begged her to try and remain happy with whatever they had in life.He had promised to be good ,faithful ,loving and caring. He had lived upto his word till date.In fact, people envied her for having snagged such a wonderful husband. Her parents and family treated him with the utmost respect. He had achieved demi god status among all the relatives and friends.Everyone was well aware of how much they had tried intially to conceive and how in the end, resigned to their childless fate.
Now, most of them treated her with disdain for having denied him the joy of being a father. Some pitied her and some had sympathy for her.Roshan was the hero. The knight who had saved her soul .the undisputed prince who had given her new life through his nobility, sacrifice and steadfast love. The man who was the darling of all the women and an example for all the men.The person who had stood by his wife, everlovingly and willingly without complaining or straying into any other woman's arms. The virile man who was stuck with a "baanjh."
If only they knew the truth how she resented him for putting her into this situation. How she hated the charade.Roshan was no hero..he was just another insecure man who needed a woman to hide his shortcomings,to take the blame and be the scapegoat. After all, it would be disgraceful for a man to be known among his buddies as "the one who can't keep it up."He had begged her and cried like a child not because they couldn't concieve , to persuade her to keep the truth hidden,to make sure she would somehow pity him and out of her love for him she would handle it for him.make it alright and easy for him to face the world. After all ,they don't have a "male" equivalent for the word "Baanjh."
this is what happens in our educated and cultured society…woman is always blamed…
this is the true situation
:-)… you have something against men dont u … :-).. awesomely written though!
I can belv every word you say dear. Cannot belv at times if we can measure ourselves as a progressive nation when we have a huge divide in terms of hypocritical thinking and lack of acceptance of truth when required. Its high time our society wakes up!!!
Touching. Isnt it the truth in this male chauvnistic society? women are most often treated like dirt in this society…. Did you hear about the Fritzs? Horrible Horrible people!
the truth has a knack to lay deep hidden somewhere or atleast in shades of grey which is difficult to decipher to those who arent in the know of things. and yes.. the society is cruel.. and a man’’s ego - the less said about it the better. beautiful one ws.
Wow - that is some wonderful writing Warm Sunshine - very nicely written - it is such a sorry state is it not- women always being forced to bear the brunt of society’’s jibes and taunts for the short comings of the men - and the sad thing is it happens every day yet no one wants to do anything about it. Once again a beautiful story WS. Take care :)))))))))))))))))))))))))
This is the tragedy of life- male bias evident in our society! well written!
i sincerely liked the post for the way put it and the theme. this is true in many cases and it is the woman who takes on the burden. many men are cowards to even admit. thanks.
