The 30-share BSE Sensex continued to trade in the negative terrain with sustained selling seen across all sectors.
Amongst
the sectoral indices, Metal (5.03%), Realty(4.99%), Bankex (4.90%),
Capital Goods (4.79%), Oil and Gas (4.45%) and Power (4.32%) continued
to be the worst hit.
BSE Midcap and Smallcap too continued to be in negative down by 2.86% and 2.10% respectively.
Currently,
the 30-share index Sensex is trading down 342.45 points, or 3.55%, at
9,292.29, after touching a high of 9,637.04 and a low of 9,279.10.
Meanwhile the broad based Nifty is trading lower by 107.85 points, or
3.66%, at 2,840.50, after hitting a high of 2,953.20 and a low of
2,839.10. (02.59 p.m.)
Overall
market breadth was negative. Out of the total 2,146 shares traded at
BSE, 741 advanced, 1,586 declined while 89 remained unchanged.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were and ITC (0.70%).
On
the other hand, Jaiprakash Associates (8.01%), Reliance Energy (6.59%),
Reliance Communications (5.97%), ICICI Bank (5.72%), and Tata Steel
(5.56%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
