“I like my lil comforts dude… and I need to pay for them” he said.He was an aquaintence from work. He spent most of his waking hours in the office. He would stay till late in the night. Deadlines and issues were routine. His wife had delivered and was at her parents place. That meant he now had more time on his hands to spend at work.
Was he enjoying his work? I think not.
The question that begged to be asked was “what is the point of this whole exercise?”
He was answering the question.
I’m not a new age guru who would preach of leaving behind ones possessions and heading for the Himalayas. The point i’m trying to make is that at the ende of the day we all need money. But let’s not have money dictate the way we lead life.
Money has to be put in perspective. It’s that perspective that I find missing in today’s world.
When was the last time you heard an obituary reading “He died peacefully, surrounded by his lawyer, boss and banker” ?
Thought provoking……….but no one seems to give it a thought as everyone seems madly running after materialistic or rather elusive…….what!! I fail to understand! Maybe workaholics are on the rise..

Agreed, money is important but life cannot be about the single pursuit of having and doing
me thinks the future obituaries would read…s/he died “piece”fully surrounded by her laptop, highbacked-ergonomic-chair, cellphone(s) and take-aways!
tell me about it…
